Happy Friday Gang!! The cold weather is coming back and this weekend is supposed to be worse than last weekend. I don't think there is much going at work today except for the luncheon.

We'll probably go grocery shopping early tomorrow morning. I'm going to look up a pressure canning recipe for chicken soup and do some canning this weekend.

QOTD: What's something you thought was healthy to eat, but really isn't? I always thought granola was a good healthy snack, but over the years I've realized that is not as healthy as it was made out to be.

B: coffee and breakfast wrap

L: whatever was ordered for the luncheon today

D: baked fish and broccoli

Hitting the Y tonight for some weight training and stair stepping.

Have a great day and weekend everyone!!!

Happy Friday Eve Gang!! Nice and brisk out this morning. I guess the weekend is supposed to be cold again, but that's ok since I have a 3-day weekend. Last day of training here at work and then tomorrow is a Super Bowl party.

Irvin's feeling much better and he's actually excited about the second half that has to be done next week. Then he only has to go every 6 months for a cleaning. He's been looking for a job since he is bored being retired and just yesterday the Town of Lisbon posted a Maintainer/Equipment Operator position. He has all the qualifications that are needed.

B: coffee and 2 scrambled eggs with cheese and ham

L: Seafood hot and sour soup

D: Reuben sandwich

If Irvin feels up to it we will go to the Y if not I'll just hit the treadmill at home.

Have a great day everyone!!

Happy Hump Day Gang!! It was actually 25 degrees this morning which is like a heatwave lately. LOL. Irvin was sore when he got home and couldn't talk much due to the swelling, but everything went well. I got all my veggie seeds sorted and organized last night my plan is to start the peppers, tomatoes and eggplant on the 14th. Then start some herbs in March and the rest of the veggies in April. They should all be ready for outdoor planting in the end of May beginning of June. We have a lot of plans for this Summer's growing season.

Day two of the training here at work. Yesterday's class went well. We are getting ready to have a Super Bowl party on Friday in hopes the Patriots win.

QOTD: Do you ever go out of your way to help people? It kind of depends on what the person needs for help, but for the most part I do. I definitely do extra stuff for people at work and most of it is personal stuff that they need help with. Not everyone is computer savvy here.

B: coffee and protein shake

L: Pot roast with green beans

D: Maybe soup and salad

I did the treadmill at home this morning since I don't think we will be going to the Y. Irvin's mouth has to heal up more, but that's ok.

Have a wonderful day everyone!!!

Morning Gang. We have a three-day training going on at work for Incident Commander/First Responder in case there is ever a situation where something unexpected happens. I have to look up to accidents that happened at the scale yesterday and today. I do like the new camera system we have.

Irvin has a 1pm dentist appointment today to get a couple of teeth pulled and address a couple of other issues. He's never liked going to the dentist and haven't been in a good 20 years. So now he has to have some extra work done. But that's why I have pretty good dental insurance through my work.

QOTD: Have you ever had a thought or idea in a dream and woke up to write it down? I have a few times, but they were really more things that I wanted to get done within the next few days. LOL

B: coffee and protein shake

L: pork tacos

D: It depends on how Irvin is feeling.

I think we will skip the Y tonight and I'll just use my treadmill at home.

Have a great day everyone!!

Happy Monday Gang!! Yesterday was the only day it was actually really cold outside. I made a Mississippi Pot roast but used a pork shoulder instead of beef. I came out pretty good. Irvin and I shoveled a path for the gas man to deliver gas and when I went grocery shopping Irvin got the bobcat running and did a bunch of snow clean up in case we get more snow.

We have training 3 days this week at work and next Thursday we have our second waterwash on the other boiler. Then we have to get the plant ready for a BAU audit at the end of the month and next month we have our first outage of the year. Things are already ramping up at work.

QOTD: What are you plans for the month of February? Some of mine are getting the veggie seeds started. I did plant tulip bulbs that I had picked up on clearance last year but didn't get them in the ground so I put them in pots until Spring. Finish organizing in office and basement.

B: coffee and protein shake

L: pork shoulder

D: soup and salad

Hitting the Y for weights and treadmill.

If you have access to an indoor pool water exercises are great as the water takes the pressure off of joints. If not you either get hand weights or use canned vegetables to do arm exercises. Youtube have a bunch of different videos for people who are unable to do exercises in the traditional way.

Happy Friday Gang!!! Today and tomorrow are going to be potential record-breaking cold conditions. I had to get boots for Meisha yesterday because the cold was just too much for her feet. She is none too happy about them but realizes that her feet don't hurt when she's out in the cold. A little good news about the weekend it looks like the snowstorm is going to miss us and stay out to sea.

I never told you all that Irvin and I went to this very amazing herb store on Saturday to get some Blue Lotus flowers that the shoppe owner had ordered for us. The little store had so much stuff I could have spent hours in there looking at everything. We ended up spending a little over $100 on four different kinds of teas, Lions Mane mushroom powder, dried elderberries, Goji berries, Hogwarts smudge stick, crystalized ginger, Korintje cinnamon, Super greens powder and 5 bags of Blue Lotus flowers. She had stuff that I've never even been able to find online. We will definitely be going back. I currently have some of the Blue Lotus infusing in some white wine. In ancient Egyptian time Blue Lotus was found to have several medicinal properties and is still used today like helping with anti-inflammation, better sleep, and immune issues. I'll let you know how things go in a couple of weeks when its ready.

QOTD: For those of you who cook your own meals do you use herbs and spices? Many of you who have been around for a while know that I grow several different herbs along with garlic. I love to explore and experiment with different flavors and will find natural herbs or spices that will give a sweet or salty or even spicy taste flavor to a dish.

B: coffee with collagen

L: meatballs with sauce

D: baked sole with spinach

We braved the cold last night and went to the Y for a yoga class and tonight we will do our weight circuit.

Have a great day and weekend everyone!!!

There is no embarrassment to starting slow you are taking the steps you need to be healthy. Everything starts with baby steps to eventually reach the goal that you want. Yes, there will be ups and downs, but in order to get where you want to be you have to start somewhere even if it is a slow start.

Good Thursday Morning Gang. It's even colder this morning and by the weekend is supposed to be -20 but there is a possibility of us missing the other snowstorm that might hit on Sunday. I really do hope it stays out to sea.

I have to run a few errands for work this morning which I honestly don't want to do only because it is cold. The second water testing training is going on for a few hours and then there is just ice/cold prep stuff going on. I do have to do the weekly haz waste inspection which only takes about 15 minutes.

QOTD: I'll have to circle back for a question.

B: coffee with collagen

L: Turkey soup

D: left over pork loaf

Not sure if we are going to the Y tonight with the weather being in the negative numbers.

Happy Hump Day Gang!! Brr it was -1 when I got up this morning. Can't wait until Winter is over and we are potential getting another big storm this Sunday. I have to get my office area set up to start some veggie seeds for the garden this year. I'm making my list of what I want to grow.

Not all that much going on at work except for some reason the UO's are forgetting to tarp the ash trailers and are leaving them outside instead of in the ash storage area. I will have to send out an email regarding it.

QOTD: What is something you've accomplished so far in January? I've gotten better at tracking my foods nutritional values. Not 100%, but about 80%. Baby steps right?

B: Supergreens drink it had a rather unusual taste, but not in a bad way.

L: Tukey soup

D: ground pork and mushrooms loaf

Good Tuesday morning menuer's. So, we ended up with 17 inches of snow when the storm was finally over. Irvin and I were outside most of the day yesterday shoveling and plowing. The Patriots won Sunday so they are off to the Superbowl and will go against the Seahawks. Crossing fingers that the Pats can pull off another win.

I came into work a little later due to the roads still being a bit messy. We are getting cameras installed in the admin building which is great. There have been things going missing lately and we're not sure if it the cleaning crew that comes in at night or employees.

B: coffee and breakfast wrap

D: lamb and small salad

Hoping to make it to the Y tonight. They were closed Sunday and Monday due to the storm.

Topic: RE: Finally Friday's Menu

Happy Friday Gang!! So not looking forward to the weekend we are supposed to get anywhere from 9inches to 24inches. Irvin and I have several things we need to get done before the weather turns this weekend. I already took a small turkey and leg of lamb out to cook; Irvin is going to get the gas jugs filled and I'm going to grab a bale of straw for the outside animal coops just to make sure they are warm enough.

I'm helping out today at work with Winter weather prep. I have a few errands to do and will go fill up the two plow trucks with gas. Other than that, it's all just going to be a waiting game to see what we really get for snow.

QOTD: Do you take breaks to de-stress from work or looking at screens? At work I do take 10 minutes each hour and walk around just to see what's going on and it keeps me from staring at the computer all day.

B: coffee with collagen and breakfast wrap

L: leftover shrimp lo mein

D: baked stuffed sole

I don't think we are going to the Y tonight just because we have stuff to do to get ready for the weekend. We really don't want to go out tomorrow since it is going to be negative temps with the windchill like -20.

Have a great Friday and weekend. For those who will be affected by the weather stay safe. Remember to get batteries for flashlights. Make sure cell phones are charged, fill your bathtub with water, get cases of water to drink in case you lose power. I know it's a cliche but get your milk and bread.

Happy Friday Eve Gang!! Well yesterday turned into a crazy day at work. The quarterly random drug testing roster that was sent to the plants had all incorrect information on them. I've been working with the other Ops Specialist to get things all sorted out with Fleetworthy the third-party company that sends out the randoms. Then we sent one of the plow trucks to have and exhaust leak fixed, but the garage only half fixed it. It almost seemed like the leak was worse. You wouldn't be able to drive the truck for more than a few minutes the smell was so bad and we need it before the big storm this weekend. Hopefully the garage can get it fixed.

QOTD: ready made or powdered protein which do you prefer? I like them both. Premier Protein is my go to for premixed shakes and Isopure is what I use when I want to mix the shakes myself. I do use the premixed ones to make pudding at times.

B: just a protein shake with collagen powder added

L: Shrimp Lo Mein

D: air fried chicken thighs

water aerobics at the Y tonight

Good Wednesday morning gang. Boy is it cold this morning. It was zero when I took the dog out and fed the rabbits. I felt bad for Meisha because after 5 minutes she kept picking up her feet one at a time so needless to say she never went potty. I put some mushers secret on them, but I'm not sure how much that helped. If she wouldn't be such a baby about putting booties on I would get some for her. Saturday the high is supposed to -20 due windchill. Not looking forward to that day.

Should be quiet at work today not much going on that I'm aware of. I think we are planning another "football party" for Friday for the Patriots. Hopefully they beat the Broncos and head to the Superbowl.

QOTD: When planning meals what's some of your go to vegetables to incorporate with a protein? I love most all vegetables, but I know some like corn and peas are high in carbs and sugars. I mostly eat Swiss Chard, spinach, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, Bok Choy and romaine lettuce.

B: coffee and 2 scrambled eggs with1 slice of cheese and deli ham

L: yankee pot roast and french onion soup

D: air fryer chicken drumsticks

I have to double check the Y schedule, but I think tonight is a water aerobics class we want to take.

Good Tuesday Morning Gang!! We are heading into cold snap with temps in the negative numbers due to wind chill. I can't wait until Winter is over I just don't like the cold.

So, I have a co-worker who wants to purchase processed rabbits from me. He's looking to get 15-20 rabbits a year. Looks like we will be getting a few more breeding pairs. That way we have enough rabbit for us and to sell to a couple of people. Irvin is already planning how he's going to set up some more hutches.

Not much going on at work. I sent out the emails about upcoming trainings. We did have to terminate a crane operator due to poor attendance so we will be posting that position. We are up to 4 open positions which is rather unusual, but things happen

QOTD: If you could have one piece of exercise equipment at your house what would you pick? I already have a treadmill which I like, but I would like to have a recumbent exercise bike. I started using one at the Y and it's pretty comfortable.

B: coffee and breakfast wrap

L: leftover fried chicken

D: liver and onions

Today is going to be a weight training day at the Y.

Good Morning Gang. Sorry for the late posting. Woke up to 6inches of snow so I messaged my boss and told him I would be in late. I shoveled around the car and Jeep, started them up while Irvin got the plow truck ready. I took my time getting in since the back roads were rather crappy. The highway was good though.

The Patriots won against the Texans, so we are off to play the Broncos who unfortunately lost their starting quarterback to an ankle injury. I do feel bad he got hurt, but that might just give the Pats and advantage.

We added another breeding pair of rabbits to the herd. They are Californians white with black ears and facial features. Very excited about them since they were one breed I really wanted. I was able to trade a Silver Fox doe for the Californian doe and paid $25 for the buck.

QOTD: Do you feel you eat balanced meals (protein, vegetables, etc)? For the most part I do. There are some days that I just do protein and forgo the other stuff I've made.

B: coffee and 2 eggs with ham and cheese

L: rabbit stew (OMG it came out so good for the first time making it)

D: 1 country fried chicken thigh with steamed zucchini

The Y is open today so we will be hitting that after I get home from work.

Happy Friday Gang!! The computer was being finicky this morning and not loading OH finally got on.

So back in December someone had used one of the plow trucks here at work done at the wellhouse and damaged the plow. They never reported it. Me being the detective I am and with the new camera system I was able to find out what day, time, and who was driving the truck. I let the plant manager know and showed him the footage. I believe it was just an accident, but they did not report it.

Things went well with the corporate guys that came to visit yesterday. There were a few minor things they found one being the flag that for weeks I had been saying needed to be changed out. Other than that, it was a pretty good day.

Very cold this morning 5 degrees is the high and we are supposed to get some snow this weekend not much, but enough to cover things again.

QOTD: Do you take your required supplement every day? I had a lapse a few years ago, but since then I make sure every Sunday I put all my vitamins in my pill box and keep it on the counter so I don't forget.

B: coffee and 2 hard boiled eggs

L: chicken wings and 2 slices of pizza

D: pork chops and kale

The Y is closed today for some sort of issue/maintenance with their heating system we both got the email last night so we will have a relaxing night.

Happy Friday-Eve Gang. Irvin decided he wanted baked half of chicken with red sauce and mozzarella cheese along with homemade mac and cheese so that is what he got. I made myself some seasoned chicken thighs since I'm not a huge fan of red sauce. He loved it. I had also picked up some berries and whipped cream for dessert, but he was full from the chicken and mac & cheese. We will have that tonight.

Came to work this morning to find out a couple of corporate people were coming here today. I did a quick cleanup of the office really just straightening a few things out. They got here at 7:30 about 10 minutes after I finished things. I offered to do the weekly walk around of the hazardous waste areas to help the EH&S technician out. Since I've taken a haz waste course and I'm certified I can do it. It's not really that hard of a thing and only takes about 20 minutes to complete.

QOTD: If you got to your ideal weight would you want to have plastic surgery done? While I'm far from my ideal weight I have thought about it. I would get my stomach done as that area is the worse for loose skin. My arms and thighs are not that bad and I could live with them.

B: coffee and 2 hard boiled eggs

L: 1 chicken thigh and 1 cup of mac & cheese

D: I think we will just do the fruit.

Tonight at the Y will be the weight circuit since we didn't go last night.

Happy Hump Day Gang!!

Well for once Irvin had some good luck. His CDL license was downgraded in 2024 due to not having his DOT physical done. At the time he wasn't planning on driving anymore so didn't really care, but recently he decided he wanted it back. Since his license needed to be renewed by his birthday which is today, I had started calling a few weeks back to see what he had to do to get it upgraded back to a CDL. I had called the DMV and was told since it was over 2 years, he needed to take the knowledge and road test over along with getting an up-to-date DOT physical. He did the physical on the 5th. The doctor sent the certificate to the DMV that day. It was going to take a few weeks to get the road and knowledge test set up so he decided to just renew as a regular license until he could get the other things done. When he went to the DMV yesterday, they gave him a new CDL license because they had received the new medical certificate and he doesn't have to do the two tests over. That saves a few hundred dollars.

The body scale should be coming in today and we are rather excited about it. There is an E&I interview today and a 90-day review of a new hire. The water wash went well yesterday and hopefully boiler 2 stays good until the scheduled outage in March.

QOTD: Do you eat on a regular dinner size plate or do you use a smaller salad plate? That is one thing I've done about 95% of the time since surgery is keep consistent with eating my meals at home on a smaller salad plate. I remember my surgeon telling me to use that instead of a bigger plate because with the bigger plate you are more tempted to eat more food especially slider foods.

B: coffee and protein shake

L: French onion soup and 1/2 chicken salad wrap

D: whatever Irvin wants I'll make him for his birthday

Have a great day everyone!!
