Good Friday-Eve Gang. Sorry I didn't start the thread yesterday. I was off work and OH was not being friendly and I couldn't get it to post. I gave up after 5 times as I had to get to the dentist for a root canal. That was so much fun, not. At least I think it went well as so far, I don't have any cold or hot sensitivity. I've yet to chew on that side since my jaw is still sore.
The outage is still going well and ahead of schedule. Now to just catch up on stuff from yesterday.
QOTD: Who here have had a root canal done? This is my second one and the first one wasn't done correctly years ago and I ended up having to have the tooth pulled. Crossing fingers, it continues to be OK.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: we have pizza at work today and wing dings
D: leftover French onion chicken
Hitting the Y for weights and the pool. I think Irvin is going to do an oil change in my car tonight.
Have a great day everyone!!

Oh no that's not good. At least it sounds like what the nurse told you is working. I hope things take a turn for the better.

OH is not playing nice today. I've typed up three times to start the thread and then it won't let me post.
Good Tuesday Morning Gang. The first day of the outage has gone very well to the point we are 6 hours ahead of schedule. When I covered the scale house lunch yesterday I noticed a piece of the outbound guardrail was ripped apart where the sidearm drivers get out. I let maintenance know so there are no driver injuries.
I've stumbled up a Youtube channel called Crazy Korean Cooking. The food they make looks amazing and I'm making a Christmas list of things I want to buy so I can make the stuff. Everything is so fresh looking. I also found out that there is a huge Asian market called Hmart up near the Boston area. I might just have to take a ride.
QOTD: Speaking of Asian Cuisine would you ever eat something out of the ordinary that you wouldn't normally buy? I definitely would with the exception of a few things like stinky tofu, 100-year-old eggs, and the eggs that have the baby chicks still in them. I really want to try this raw crab marinated in soy sauce that was in one of their videos.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: beef brisket
D: French onion chicken breast
Hitting the Y for a yoga class and then working on cleaning out a closet.
Have a great day everyone!!!

Good Morning gang. The start of another week. I got my garlic planted Saturday 240 cloves in the ground. Made wedding soup and beef brisket yesterday. The Fall outage on boiler 2 started yesterday and so far, it's off to a good start. You never know what's going to happen when we take one of the boilers down for maintenance. Hopefully it goes well and stays quiet.
QOTD: Do you worry about how much fat is in foods? I don't but I do make sure to keep the carbs low. I find full fat foods seem to fill me up more like protein does.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: brisket and soup
D: French onion chicken breast
Hitting the Y and then watching Monday Night Football
Have a wonderful day everyone!!

Good to see you back. Sorry you had to deal with that surgery hopefully you heal quickly. The group is small now, but we do our best to keep the menu thread going and support each other.

Happy Friday Gang!! Another week in the books. I ended up only watching the first quarter of the game last night, but the highlights this morning showed the Pats are on a roll. Finishing up getting ready for the last outage of the year next week here at work.
I have someone coming over tomorrow to buy some horse tack I have for sale since I don't need all the stuff I have. Other than that not sure what else the weekend holds.
QOTD: How often do you check the labels on food for carb, sugar, fat, etc.? I do half the time especially when I'm making something new and have to use an ingredient I normally don't use. I really should check labels more than I do.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: Thai food just not sure what I'm going to get
D: shrimp and clams with andouille sausage
Have a great day and weekend!!!

Oh Mel I'm sorry about your mom. Not sure why some parents favor one child over the other.

Good Friday-eve Gang!! I made a big pot of chili last night and got my black garlic going. Can't wait to watch the Pats and Jets tonight. It should be a good game. Not much else going on today work has been slow for once.
This cold weather is doing a number on my drying out my hands even though I use gloves when outside. I've got to get some good hand lotion.
QOTD: What protein do you eat the most? While I eat a variety of proteins my main one is chicken done different ways. I find ground chicken and thighs are the easiest to eat.
B: tea and protein shake
L: chili and cheese
D: oven baked chicken thighs
Hitting the Y for water aerobics.
Have a great day everyone!!

Happy Hump Day Menuer's!!! Halfway through another week. It's a bit warmer today than it was yesterday and no wind. I missed the Northern Lights last night, but I believe they will show up again tonight due to solar flares happening. We don't usually get to see them in CT unless there is some odd solar thing going on. Last year I saw them for the first time, and it was rather interesting to watch the sky go from the normal dusk color to bright green and pink.
I got the garlic powder done last night. I dehydrated 7 trays of homegrown garlic, food processed them and then use my coffee grinder to make the powder. This year I used 3 different types of garlic and one of them was a spicy type that really makes it strong smelling and tasting. Can't wait to use it.
QOTD: Who here sends out Holiday cards? I do every year to family and friends, but this year I think I might mix things up and send out Yuletide and Krampus cards to some people. I know they will get a kick out of them instead of getting the typical Christmas or Happy Holidays.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: 2 slices of chicken loaf
D: bowl of chili
Not sure if we are going to the Y tonight or not as Irvin has something to help his son with.
Have a great day everyone!!!
The garlic.

Good Tuesday Morning Gang!! Oh boy was it cold out this morning, but the new furnace is great. I told myself I wouldn't stay up to watch the entire football game, but I got sucked into it and now I'm paying for the price of not getting enough sleep. LOL
I have to get my butt moving and finish cleaning up the corner of the basement that I want to set up my meat "cooler" to make different dried stuff. I did get my garlic dehydrated and now just have to grind it up into powder. Now to just make some more black garlic.
QOTD: Onions or garlic which one do you like better? I love both and use them all the time in different dishes. They are either fresh, or ones I dehydrated and turned into powder.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: roast beef and cheddar on an onion bun
D: beef stew
Hitting the Y and then going to bed early.
Have a great day everyone!!!

Good Monday Morning Gang. Got a few things done over the weekend. The weather was pretty decent, but it's supposed to get cold with highs during the day in the low 40's and overnight temps in the 20's. That's what I don't like about New England the cold weather. Just hope there isn't any snow until January. I hate driving in that crap.
I did watch the Frankenstein movie that is on Netflix. What a great movie. If you have Netflix I highly recommend you watch it.
QOTD: What type of movies do you like to watch? I like pretty much all types of movies. My favorites are either horror related or fantasy like LOTR or Harry Potter.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: turkey and gravy
D: pork shoulder and kale
Hitting the Y for some water aerobics and then watching Monday Night Football. The Patriots did great yesterday as did some of the other teams. Not sure what's going on with Buffalo they started the season off great and now they are flopping like crazy. The Pats are in the lead right now over them.
Have a great day everyone.

Made it through another week. Happy Friday gang. I think I slept the wrong way last night as my back on the right side is a bit sore. I'll do some stretching in a bit to see if that helps. Should be a quiet day at work they got the new conference room table done and the closet is all redone, so I'll have more storage space.
Not sure what the weekend holds it depends on the weather. I do have to sex some of the young bunnies as there is someone close by looking for a Silver Fox buck and I have 7 of those just have to figure out which one is a buck. If we don't get any rain I plan on planting my garlic for next year. I also really need to go through my bureau draws and clean things out.
QOTD: Is there anything you plan on changing come the New Year for weight loss or maintenance? I'm going to start really tracking what I eat and drink daily with putting the calories, carbs, sugar, etc. I think doing that will help me get the rest of my weight off.
B: coffee and 2 egg bits
L: bok choy soup with shrimp
D: baked fish and spaghetti squash
Will go to the Y for some water exercises since I know that won't bother my back.
Have a great Friday and weekend everyone!!!

Good Morning Gang. Update on the car from yesterday. The State Police said the car was not reported stolen and there was no one inside of it. Apparently on Halloween traffic cameras caught it swiping a guardrail in Norwich. The officers think the driver was drunk and for some reason ditched it. Oddly I did not see the car there on Monday, maybe it was and I didn't notice it until Tuesday morning. They did tow it so now the owner needs to go to Troop E in Montville to get it back.
The new furnace will be here tomorrow and installed. It hasn't been bone chilling cold and I have a few space heaters to take the chill out of the air. We will survive.
For those of you who drink Premier Protein Almond milk ready to drink shakes if you heat them up in the microwave particularly the coffee and chocolate ones. They taste just like a coffee or hot cocoa. This is thanks to my husband who wanted something hot the other day instead of having a regular coffee or tea.
QOTD: What are your plans for the upcoming Holidays? I always cook a Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for Irvin and I. Some years they are a traditional dinner and other times they are whatever we feel like having. This year my brother is going to be joining us for Thanksgiving. He kind of invited himself, but that's ok I don't see him very often and he wants to talk with Irvin about how he lost his weight.
B: coffee protein shake heated
L: 3 ham, cheese and pickle wraps
D: chicken loaf and green beans
Hitting the Y and then watching football.
Have a great day everyone!!!

No dead bodies nor was it stolen. Apparently, someone on Halloween night was driving drunk around Norwich, hit a guardrail and must have decided to ditch the car for a while. The State police towed it.

Happy Hump Day Menuer's. Well, the furnace isn't fixed yet, but we have other ways to stay warm. Hopefully within the next couple of days we have a new one. One another note when I came in yesterday, I noticed a car parked off the access road down in a sandpit area. It was still there this morning, so I called the State Police. When I went back down to take pictures, I noticed it had driver side damage. Not sure if it is stolen and someone dumped it or if there is a body in it. I didn't get close enough to look just in case it is a crime scene. Plus, the windows are all frosted over so you can't see in them anyways.
Disappointing news on the mayoral race results in Putnam. They voted the same mayor back in and all he does is spend money, raise taxes, and do things without the approval of the board of selectmen. I'm not saying Republicans are any better, but after 8 years of this guy spending tax dollars on unnecessary things a change would have been nice. Maybe I should get into politics and run as an independent.
QOTD: For those of you who had mayoral or other state races did they turn out the way you hoped? As you know mine town races did not go well. Now we have to deal with another 2 years of this guy spending money left and right. I hope everyone else's went well.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: chili and cornbread
D: beef stew
Hitting the Y and I think I'll grind up my garlic and put it in the dehydrator.
Have a great day everyone.
Here's the car. You can see the damage to the driver's side.

Taxes are going up like crazy everywhere it seems. Irvin and I are going to vote when I get home.

Good Tuesday Morning Gang. Apparently, our furnace decided after 20 years to crap out. Not a big deal since my step-son is a boiler guy and is coming out today to install a new one. The dog kept us warm last night. LOL
It is windy this morning and is supposed to get to 40mph winds by the afternoon. I've got the rabbits covered up pretty good so the wind doesn't get to them. I don't think there is much going on at work today.
QOTD: How do you heat your house? We originally had electric and a pellet stove 21 years ago when we moved in, but after a year of dealing with high electric bills and the pellet stove Irvin's oldest son put a gas-powered furnace in along with central air. Definitely a game changer for us.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: chili burrito
D: chicken salad over toss salad
Going to vote for local offices tonight and hitting the Y.
Have a great day everyone!!!

Love the drawing.
I got all the garden stuff put away this weekend and cleaned out some draws to organize stuff. Something I've been having to do for a while, but kept putting it off.

Happy Monday Gang!! The Jack-0-Lantern event we went to on Friday was pretty neat. The history of the place was really interesting. I'm glad we went. Here's some pictures. The picture with the wooden ladder in the background is where the inmates climbed in and out of the mine. They were locked down there at night and during the day they had shackles on to do work around the prison grounds.
QOTD: What century of history do you find interesting? That's kind of a tough one because all of history fascinates me. For history in the US the 1700 and 1800's had a ton of world changing events. Outside of the US I find the Roman era and Egyptian Pharoah era rather interesting.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: chicken sausage and chili
D: beef fajitas
Have a great day everyone!!!

Happy Halloween!! Of course I can't post a meme because my laptop won't let me copy and save. Any who. We are getting ready to head out to the Underground Prison Jack-o-Lantern event. I'm getting the route set up for the places we are going to today. I'll have picture on Monday.
QOTD: Which scare you more Zombies or Vampires? Zombies for me. The dead coming back to life is just freaky.
B: coffee and eggs and steak
L: not sure
D: baked fish and potatoes
Have a great day and weekend everyone!!!

Finally a doctor who listened and now you have an answer. One of my sisters have RA and she takes some sort of medication not sure what it is. I hope you get seen sooner rather than later.

Good Friday-Eve morning gang. Things were a bit crazy this morning at work, but we are all set now. Today is my Friday and the second Employee Appreciation Day. Pray the rain holds off until this afternoon since the clambake company cooks on site.
Tomorrow we are going to the underground prison jack-o-lantern event, but first we are stopping by Pleasant View Farm to get some grassfed red angus beef. We go a few times a year to get some. After the jack-o-lantern thing we are going to stop at another farm to get some lamb that is also grassfed. Not sure what we will be doing this weekend.
QOTD: Does your town or a town near you hold any Jack-o-Lantern events? Roger Williams Zoo in RI has been doing one for 20 years. There are other towns around me that do them also. I've only been to a few over the years, but they have always been great.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: clambake
D: making a pot of chili
Not sure if we are going to the Y tonight, but if not I'll do the treadmill at home.
Have a great day everyone!!!

Happy Hump Day Gang!! The BBQ was a success yesterday. The food was really good especially the steak tips. Tomorrow we have the clambake that everyone is looking forward to. They started the demo on the closets. The guys are taking the wall out that is in between them and making it one big closet for storage. It is much needed. I'll have to do a Home Depot run with one of the guys to get some supplies.
I have today and tomorrow to work and then Friday off. I'm really looking forward to it as I have a whole agenda planned besides going to the underground prison.
QOTD: What would you do to help those who are going to be affected by the potential non distribution of SNAP benefits? While yes there may be some people who abuse the system and lie about their situation. I know that there are many people in the US *****ly on them to feed themselves and their families. Between the elderly, the disabled, and families who parents do work, but still qualify because they just don't make enough money. I plan on asking my Plant Manager if we can purchase a few extra turkeys along with sides to hand out to a few families for Thanksgiving.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: leftovers from yesterday since I ordered a ton of food
D: Ham and gravy
Hitting the Y and then sorting out peppers that I had to pick out of the garden.
Have a great day everyone!!!

Good Tuesday Morning Menuer's. I am waiting for the catering company to show up for our first Employee Appreciation Day. I'm getting the hoodies together for each employee along with some sort of electronic charger that our corporate office sent each facility. It should be a fun day.
I've been working on cleaning out the basement so I can setup a grow tent that we are turning into a meat cooler for hanging different types of Italian meats like Capicola, Prosciutto, Soupy, and Pancetta. I've always wanted to make them and now I have the space and items needed to make the "cooler".
QOTD: What's the best catered food that you've had? We get a lot of catering at work for different events and I think the best one we've had was the Hawaiian Luau last year. They came on site and cooked a whole pig with all the fixing's. Everyone loved it.
B: just a coffee because there will be a ton of food for lunch
L: catered BBQ
D: probably nothing because of lunch LOL
Water aerobics at the Y.
Have a great day everyone!!!

Happy Monday Gang. Chilly start to the day we had more frost on the ground. We got the rabbits breed again and took another load of trash well really tires to the plant. I cooked a ham and a turkey breast to have stuff for the week. It's a short week for me since I have Friday off.
Tomorrow and Thursday are our employee appreciation days. BBQ and then Clambake the guys are happy about it. I have to go out and get a few things for the raffle prizes. Other than that it should be a rather quiet week.
QOTD: Do you ever enter raffles? I do sometimes especially if they are free ones, but I've also entered ones that you had to pay for. Two years ago I won a nice hunting rifle that was raffled off. The tickets were $30 a piece the gun was worth $900.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: ham, cheese, and pickle wrap
D: turkey and gravy
Hitting the Y and then going to try and get to bed early tonight.
Have a great day everyone!!!
