Topic: RE: Finally Friday's Menu

It's Friday and I'm doing the happy dance that the week is just about over. For some reason I feel like the dog in the meme full of energy and excitement. Got a good night's sleep and woke up to rather warm weather. Of course, tomorrow it is supposed to be in the 40's with more rain, so will spend the day cooking for the week. I have to stop at the Asian market on my way home to get the ingredients to make another batch of Kimchi.

I found out this morning that my company has a Charitable Match Program where you can donate up to $200 to eligible charities and they will match it 100%. When I was looking through the list of animal charities, I found that a rescue I follow on FB is one of them. MAD Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherd Rescue. I am definitely going to be donating since they currently have 4 different dogs that they have rescued who need different surgeries.

QOTD: Speaking of charities do any of you here donate on a regular basis to any specific foundations? In the past I've donated to some small local animal rescues, but nothing big. For the last few years here at work on March 26 Jersey Mike's does all proceeds made go to March of Dimes so we make sure to get in on that.

Good Friday-Eve gang. A rainy gloomy day here in CT. I have to order pizza and wing dings for our mid outage safety luncheon tomorrow and will run to Walmart to get some soda and boxes of chips. Ended up after dinner taking Meisha for a walk down the road which is something we've never done before due to the vehicles driving faster than the posted 30mph speed limit. We walked a 1/2 mile to the little cemetery, walked through that, then headed back towards home. She sniffled all around and was having the time of her life. Then when we got near the house Irvin said let's keep going OK so we walked another 1/2 mile in the other direction. Ended up doing 2 miles of walking. The best thing out of it was Irvin saying he felt good and wanted to keep doing it since the weather is getting nice. All three of us slept like rocks. LOL

QOTD: Have you ever had a terrible haircut? Yes, in the fifth grade. I had long hair all one length past my butt, but being a farm kid would always get stuff tangled up in it. After countless nights of my mom using a comb and cup of water to comb it out, she made the decision that I was going to get a haircut at the start of fifth grade. She had them chop it to my ears and gave me a layered feathered style. Hated it was an understatement. After that I started taking care of my own hair and wouldn't let anyone touch it and still will not let anyone, but my daughter who is a hairdresser.

Ahh halfway through another week all. Still so far so good with the second outage. My hot cherry pepper seeds have finally started to sprout. Those suckers always take forever unlike the other peppers. I also have some tomato seeds that have sprouted and the wisteria are almost 4 inches tall with two sets of leaves. I will be planting some squash and cucumber seeds tonight and weather permitting potentially planting some kale and Swiss chard seeds outside. Those are some plants that do best in cooler temperatures.

QOTD: What was a simple food didn't make you sick after having WLS and you still eat today? Either deli ham or deli turkey sliced thin wrapped around a slice of cheese or cheese stick. A couple of months after surgery when I was pretty much cleared for more solid foods I had tried some thin sliced deli ham wrapped around a slice of Swiss cheese. I felt like I was eating the best thing in the world and even today I still eat the ham and cheese quite a bit.

Good Tuesday Morning Gang. Our second outage on boiler 2 started Sunday night and so far so good. Nothing too much planned for today expect for typical month end stuff and quarter end, but I did get a jump on it yesterday. We'll see what the day brings.

Last night we had some crazy thunderstorms roll in that woke me up around 1am. I thought a train was going by it was so loud. It's supposed to be 50 partly sunny and a bit windy hopefully it dries things up so I can move some things around outside later when I get home.

QOTD: Which pet's life would you want to live if you had to trade places? With all the critters I've owned in my life I would have to choose Meisha. She is the most spoiled rotten dog in the world. She gets her daily belly scratches, endless treats, car rides, couch snuggles, sleeps in the bed, and the list goes on. Now most of this comes from Irvin. I'm just the person who feeds her and takes her for training/potty walks. LOL

Topic: RE: What's on your Monday menu?

Happy Monday all. I made those chicken waffle things and OMG are they delicious. I seasoned the chicken breast then baked them. Once they were done I let them cool before putting them in the food processor to grind up. After that I added 2 eggs and a 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheese with some pepper and chopped scallions. Mixed up well and then put a large spoon of the mixture in my little waffle maker. I can eat just those no need to even use them as a "hamburger bun", but we did. We went early Saturday and got the two rabbit cages then on the way back we swung by Dockside Market in Warwick. We grabbed some fresh fish and some beef that they had on sale. The weather wasn't all that great so we just did some stuff in the house and then relaxed on Sunday.

QOTD: How do you hang toilet paper or paper towels under or over? I have always put both over. For some reason I feel like if you do it under then the roll would somehow touch the wall and contaminate the TP or PT. Not saying the wall is dirty, but it's a weird OCD of mine.

Good Morning Gang. It's Friday woo hoo. I got the last three roosters sold last night now to clean out the box trailer and get it ready to move the goats into for the Spring/Summer. We go early tomorrow morning to get a couple of outside rabbit cages and weather permitting I might try and get some more outside stuff done.

There was a very bad accident a few miles down the road from my house yesterday morning that took the power out until 6pm last night. I had seen it on WINY Radio's FB while at work and at first I thought it was Irvin's truck as it looked almost identical to it and I couldn't get a hold of him. But he finally called me and was just outside doing stuff with the bobcat. He never heard the fire trucks or anything. The driver of the truck had to be Life Starred to Umass in Worcester. By the looks of it they never even hit the brakes to slow down.

Good Morning All. Chilly start to the day, but the sun is shining. Not much planned for today. The reason why corporate people were here yesterday was to let everyone know that going forward that vacation/PTO time and holidays will no longer count towards overtime. There are people here that are not happy about that, but what can you do about it.

QOTD: What's your favorite smell? I love the smell of fresh baked bread. Not that I eat much bread, but when we go to Market Basket we always get a loaf of one of their fresh baked breads. You can smell them as soon as you walk in the store. Having to grocery shop before you get to the bakery kinda sucks because smelling the bread makes you buy way more stuff than you originally went in for. LOL

B: coffee and 2 scrambled eggs with ham/cheese

L: 3 chicken taquitos

D: not sure yet might make up some turkey salad

My stepson sent me this picture of his burger last night. The "bread" is made from ground up chicken breast, cheese, eggs, and seasonings. He grounds is up and then cooks it in a waffle maker to make it look like buns. I'm going to try it this weekend since it is basically all protein.

Morning all we have halfway through the week again. Our VP of the company and two HR people are here today bright and early. Not 100% sure why, but I know it has nothing to do with me so I'll just sit back and listen to what goes on in the conference room. There is a goodbye luncheon for a co-worker who is leaving to become a CT correctional officer. Kind of a bummer because he is one of the good employees who is a hard worker.

Got some more stuff sorted through in the office last night and I found the dump trailer registration renewal that was due last February apparently dum dum me put it in there and then totally forgot about it. Now to find out what I have to do to get it reregistered. This is why I make a list of things to do because I just can't remember everything.

QOTD: Do you make a list of things that you need to do or work on? I try to write stuff down that I know I have to do or get done. If I don't well then, they usually don't get done which gets frustrating.

I would think maybe a stabbing type pain or could be a pulling type pain especially if scar tissue has developed.

When I had my lap band before I revised to the bypass I would get a pulling type pain where my port was and it was because it had been encased in scar tissue that attached itself to a muscle and when I moved it would pull on it. Not sure if that makes sense or not.

You could have an ulcer which is pretty common in bypass patients and it is like a burning pain.

Good Morning Gang. The weather yesterday was pretty crappy, chilly and rainy. Today is supposed to be sunny and 50. Irvin got two outside rabbit cages almost done. He just has to put the doors on. They came out pretty nice and we are going to Dartmouth, MA Saturday morning to hopefully pickup two stainless steel rabbit cages so we have extras for when we breed the rabbits in a couple of months.

It was funny when I got home I noticed a notebook on the kitchen table with things written down on it. Then realized that Irvin had made a list of things he wants to get done this year. He must have seen my list from the weekend and how much of it was crossed off. LOL

Mel I get McCormick's grill mates Brazilian Steakhouse mix and add turmeric, cumin, garlic, and onion powder to it. I use it as a dry rub and once I have the beef sliced the way I want it I put it in a bowl with a little avocado oil. Mix the beef and oil then sprinkle the dry rub on it and mix it up good. I usually let it sit for an hour on the counter before I put it in the dehydrator.

I start checking on it after about 5 hours to see how it's coming. Most batches are done in under 12 hours. I find adding the oil helps to keep the meat from totally drying out. I have an Excalibur dehydrator that has different temperatures for different items.

Happy Monday Gang. What a great weekend I had. Got a bunch of stuff cooked for the week including the shrimp recipe that is on the main page of OH. Only thing I did different was use shallots instead of the onion. If you guys like shrimp, I recommend trying it out. I also cooked another corned beef, a huge beef brisket which was done in the oven for 7 hours with a French onion sauce/gravy, beef jerky, hard boiled eggs, and then cooked a turkey yesterday. So, we are set with protein for the week.

I helped Irvin with the brakes in the dump truck, but something isn't right because there is still air in them. I did some prepping of raised beds, moved the young egg layers the big coop/run and as you see from above the bean sprouts are doing amazing. I think we can eat them at the end of the week. Oh, and my Wisteria plant gave me some seed pods last year, so I planted what seeds I had and low and behold I have 7 Wisteria plants growing. Very excited about that.

QOTD: If you couldn't drink coffee anymore in the morning what would be your go to drink? Mine would be a nice big cold glass of milk. There is something about cold milk that I love even though I really don't drink a lot of it except in my morning coffee. LOL

Good Friday morning gang. It was a bit rainy when I got up at 4am, but it has since stopped, and it appears that the sun will be coming out. Yesterday turned out to be a nice day after it being a bit drizzly in the morning it became sunny and 60 out. I plan on making a beef brisket and turkey this weekend to have some stuff for lunches next week. My garlic is coming nicely and I have more seeds to get started.

QOTD: What was your favorite class in high school? I remember starting my freshman year and I had to pick an elective class. They had several interesting classes, but I chose AG class which was held in a building outside of the main school. It had a greenhouse attached to it and that is where I learned a bunch of stuff. I ended up taking horticulture, animal science, floriculture, joined FFA, and in my senior year I had three hours of working in the greenhouse. That all was so much more fun and educational than sitting in a classroom listening to a teacher go over the same stuff day after.

Outside of fencing everything I have had good luck with a product called Repeals all. Repels-All Animal Repellent Granules - Bonide It comes in both a spray and granules. What I have done is spray the plant then apply the granules around the base of the plant. When you first spray it the smell is like rotten eggs, but that is only for a few seconds. Since rabbits and other critters have a more sensitive nose than us humans they can actually smell it on and around the plants.

There are some plants that will also deter them. I plant garlic all around the outside of my garden and then along the inside I plant onions. Those are two plants they do not like. Some other plants that help to keep them away are lavender, salvia, and oregano. A motion activated sprinkler or windchimes are two other options that are supposed to deter rabbits.

Worst case scenario I can lend you my German Shepherd she just loves rabbit and is getting pretty darn good at catching them.

Happy Hump Day gang. Halfway through the week already.

We ended up being 14 hours ahead of schedule with boiler 1 outage. This is very good news since our Westchester plant has been down for 10 days so far due to some 480V power failure. They are working off of rental generators but are not able to process anywhere near the amount of trash they normally do. Hopefully they can get back up and running soon as they take the long tail from us that is brought in by Rand Whitney and we have a huge pile of it on the tipping floor like 5 trailer loads. That stuff takes up a lot of space.

Other than that not much going on. Two types of my peppers have germinated and are doing well. My hot cherry peppers on the other hand have not sprouted. Looks like I will have to plant some more from a different company and hopefully they sprout and grow.

QOTD: Has anyone ever tried to grow sprouts like Mung beans, radish, chickpeas? Since we eat bean sprouts and others a few times a week I have decided to try and grow them myself. It seems pretty easy and they are grown in mason jars with a special lid. I ordered the lids from amazon and they should be in today. I'll keep you all posted on how it works out.

Good Morning menu gang. OH was acting wonky for a couple of hours this morning they must have been doing maintenance on it or something. Finally able to get on to post.

We are getting ready to start up the boiler that has been down for maintenance and that means we are a day ahead of schedule. That's really good. Oh and that employee who called out last Tuesday stating his sister died, come to find out he lied about her passing away. When he was asked where we could send flowers, he started making up all sorts of odd excuses. My plant manager called HR to let them know what was going on and our HR rep did a three-way call with the employee and plant manager. He ultimately admitted that he didn't want to have to work the outages as it was too much work and figured he wouldn't be questioned if he said a family member died. Bad Juu Juu came his way as he was fired yesterday. It wasn't just because of that we found out other things that he was doing or not doing something correctly and trying to blame other co-workers. He was mad he was let go.
