Good Wednesday morning everyone. Yes, I gave in and got the Thanksgiving pizza with a couple of other people. It was so good even though I only had one piece. It's very filling.
I started handing out the $50 holiday GC to employees who will not be here the rest of the week, and they were all grateful. They know to come back Friday afternoon to get their turkey.
If I had been 2 minutes sooner on the highway this morning, I think it would have been me that hit the deer instead of the van. I noticed something in the left lane and as I went by realized it was a bumper, then about 50ft up the road was a white van on the shoulder. There was front fender damage, and the bumper was obviously off. This time of year is crazy with deer and rut season.
QOTD: What's a childhood memory you have of Thanksgiving? Mine would have to be when one of my uncles specifically Uncle Dick would come to the farm at like 4am with a huge fruit basket for us and then proceed to sit and help his sister get stuff ready for dinner. My mom would make a 25plus pound turkey back then and those did not fit in an oven bag. He would peel potatoes, butternut squash, boiling onions, turnip all the while my mom was getting the stuffing ready for the bird. He was a great guy and always around to help his little sister. My mom is the youngest of 6 and only has one brother left alive.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: my last piece of pizza
D: porkchops and mushrooms
Have a great day everyone.
Mel that's awesome you're boss did that for you. She knows your value and appreciates your work and dedication.
Those colors on that chain are beautiful. You really do an amazing job.
How is the Popeye's Cajun turkey? I've seen it advertised the last few years and I do like Popeye's chicken better then KFC.
Those stuffing waffles sound good as does the turkey with peanut satay sauce. I might have to look at a few different ways to use some of the leftovers.
Happy Tuesday!!! Feeling so much better today. Still don't know what the heck was going on Sunday, but just glad it has passed.
Nothing much going on at work today and it looks like we will be getting some much-needed rain on Thursday and potentially into the weekend. I have another half day Friday, and we are getting turkeys for all the employees along with a $50 gift card for the holidays then also.
While I know it's technically "taco Tuesday" there is a local Pizzaria that makes a killer Thanksgiving pizza and I think a couple of co-workers and I are going to get one to split.
QOTD: What do you all do with holiday leftovers? Since its only my husband and I there aren't to many side dishes made and most of them will have enough for a day or maybe two afterwards. The only thing we have a good amount of is turkey. So I usually will carve it all up and freeze some of it for turkey soup or turkey salad down the road.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: maybe pizza?
D: chicken burgers and salad
Have a wonderful day everyone.
Happy Monday. Sorry I'm late to party. I woke up yesterday feeling like absolute crap. My stomach hurt most of the day and it even caused me to dry heave a few times. I have no idea why as I didn't eat anything out of the ordinary. I feel better, but not 100%.
I just had to block Ava due to so not so nice things she was saying about a few posters on the daily menu thread, and I also reported her to admin. While I am not one to block people I will be dam if she's going to put any of you down when we all know she's the problem.
I will do the best I can to start the thread M-F as I know both QJB and Amy are busy with things.
Anyways besides the weird not feeling good yesterday I got a few more little things done in the house on Saturday and missed the Tyson/Paul fight Friday. We both crashed on the couch and forgot abou****ching it. LOL
QOTD: With holidays coming into full swing which one is your favorite between Thanksgiving and Christmas? I like them both, but Christmas and getting to see the grandkids open their gifts and the smile on their faces makes it the better of the two.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: chicken soup
D: baked chicken thighs with kale and bacon
Have a great day everyone.
All the seafood I get is fresh. I have some really good fish markets around me and we have fish at least once a week if not more. In the Summer we eat a lot more seafood especially if we get out to go fishing in the sound.
Good Friday morning everyone. I have a half day at work today, so I have to make sure I get everything done before I leave at noon.
Any plans for the weekend? My husband wants to watch the Mike Tyson/Jake Paul fight tonight on Netflix. I think Mike is just doing it for some extra cash. Yet he does look pretty good for 58.
The weather looks to be in the 60's so I might do something outside around the house.
QOTD: Does anyone do weekly meal prepping on the weekends? That is one thing for the most part that I still do. Every now and again I'll make something different during the week, but most everything has already been made or planned out each weekend. For me it makes things easier during week when I get home from work.
B: coffee and protein shake
L: TBD
D: baked haddock with sweet potato fries
Have a wonderful Friday!!!
I can see you taking over a plane with toothpaste and shaving cream. LOL I get it there are size regulations for a reason right. I've only ever flown twice in my life not really a fan of planes.
While I have certain dishes I make all the time I also love cooking new types of food especially stuff I've had at a restaurant. Like the bok choy soup I make. A few years ago I had a type of soup at a Thai restaurant that I loved so I set out to figure out how to make it myself. I've tweaked it a bit here and there, but the actual taste is almost identical to what I had at the restaurant.
I also love to experiment with different ways of cooking things. The only thing I have not tried yet is sous vide. I have one, just haven't used it yet. I might try it with a venison roast I was given.
What did you have for toiletries that they confiscated? That's crazy. Have a safe trip.
It is Friday Eve woohoo so close to the weekend. The mornings have been rather chilly here in CT and going out at 5am to milk a goat kinda sucks in the cold. I told my husband time to breed her and dry her up for the Winter. Since goats are pregnant for 5 months that will give me time to rearrange my milking area and get a machine hooked up instead of hand milking.
Each night I have decided to take 20-30 minutes and do some sort of cleaning/organizing in the house. Last night I cleaned an area that had different types of wrapping paper thrown around it. I threw some of it out and the rest got rolled up and placed in an old hamper. While it doesn't seem like much my husband noticed right away.
QOTD: Who still uses protein drinks or powder as a meal replacement? The first year after my revision I would drink 2 protein drinks a day, but then kind of stopped doing that. The last three weeks I've been adding collagen protein to my morning coffee and just today I decided to start taking a premier protein shake with me to work as a replacement for my breakfast.
B: protein shake
L: salad with sliced chicken
D: not 100% sure, but I might make some more bok choy soup
Have a wonderful day everyone.
It will be 15 years this December that I've been with my company. Ironicly my work anniversary is also my birthday which this year I will be 50.
We start off with 2 weeks PTO time and 48 hours of floating holiday time. Since we are a part of the trash industry, we only get 6 holidays off and the rest are made up with floating holidays. Then at 5 years we get another 2 weeks of PTO time and at 10 years we get another year of PTO time. So, if one makes it to 10 years with the company you end up with 5 weeks PTO time and 48 hours of floating holiday time. Bereavement, jury duty, military, and anything else has their own time off policy. We do have some pretty good benefits here.
I don't know if I want to go down the creami rabbit hole. LOL. It would really be more for my husband than me. Don't get me wrong I do like a good ice cream, but my husband could eat ice cream every single day if it were in the house.
Finally, the middle of the week. It looks like I'll be taking half days on some Fridays and then still have to figure out when to take 5 more days off after that. I get 6 weeks and one day off each year and even with all the time I've already taken I still have some left and it's use it or lose it. I might not be working all that much in December since I already have time off scheduled from earlier in the year. LOL.
Has anyone heard about the Cheshire, CT Special Education teacher who posted a rant on her supposed private group Snapchat over the weekend threatening to kill or beat-up anyone who voted for Trump? I understand people are upset that Trump won, but holy **** some people are really going crazy.
Whether you agree with who was elected or not you do not go on social media threatening to kill people because of who they voted for. The parents of the students at the school are up in arms about this. The teacher has potentially lost her job and has probably blackballed herself from teaching due to what she said. I personally didn't like Trump or Harris, and I voted for an independent that was on the ballot, but I sure the heck am not going to threaten to kill anyone because Trump won, nor would I do that if Harris won.
QOTD: Since having WLS what kitchen device have you used more now than you did before WLS? I would have to say my Instant Pot. I make everything from hardboiled eggs to yogurt and everything in between. It's like a set it and forget it. Saves so much time for me.
B: 2 hard boiled eggs with ham
L: leftover tacos (yes I gave in and got tacos yesterday)
D: bok choy soup
Have a great day everyone!!!
Stop and Shop had shady brook turkey breast on sale for .99cent a pound. I bought 4 of them. Three are in the freezer. The one I made on Sunday I took butter, fresh sage, parsley, oregano, garlic, salt and pepper mixed it all up good and put it under the skin and a little on top. I also cook all turkeys in an oven bag just because it cuts out so much time. It was so moist and delicious.
It was such a chilly weekend that smelling that turkey cooking and the heat from the oven was so nice.
Another Monday is in the books. Tuesday what shall you bring to us all. Tacos sound so good today, but I might just stick to the turkey I have since I cooked a turkey breast on Sunday and it gives us a few days' worth of leftovers.
Nothing much going on today which is nice for a change work has been quiet with the outages done for the year. Only other thing that has to be planned is a Christmas luncheon.
I've been putting a collagen protein in my morning coffee for three weeks and it's rather amazing how soft and smooth my skin feels. My skin was looking old and feeling dry.
QOTD: Alcohol I know this is a sensitive subject with some, but how has your alcohol consumption changed since having WLS? While I would have an occasional drink pre-WLS (never drank beer and still don't) I was never really a big drinker. After I had the band done in 2003, I still didn't really drink much, but I found after I had my revision in 2015 to RNY I definitely drink more while it is mainly wine it is still alcohol. It is something I have been working on each month. I have improved greatly, but I know deep down drinking even a couple of glasses a week sets me back on my weight loss. Stress is a big trigger for me and daily meditation has been helpful.
B: 2 scrambled eggs with cheese and coffee
L: Turkey and gravy (unless I give in and get tacos)
D: salad with tuna
Have a wonderful day everyone!!!
My mom with the horse she almost adopted.
Sometimes animals fall into our lives for different reasons. Gizmo fell into yours because deep down you needed that companionship, and he needed a loving home. It was a win win for the both of you.
My mother on the other hand has enough animals with two cats, two dogs, two pea****s, 3 sheep, 1 horse, 1 donkey and lord knows how many chickens. The horse was beautiful, but she does not need anymore to take care of. She'll never retire.
Thankfully we no longer have to deal with leaves as we had taken down the big oaks and maples we had in our front yard. The rest of the trees around us are pines so don't drop all that much in pine needles.
When we did have leaves I would leaf blow/rake them into the driveway and then Irvin would take the 9N tractor with a the york rake and drag them down into the back. Definitely do not miss those days.
I had a nice long weekend, and it was going great until Saturday night when I tripped over one of Meisha's balls she had outside and landed on my left knee hard. I pulled something, but alas life goes on. She did lick my knee as if to say sorry. It's a good thing she's so dam cute. LOL.
My mom and I went to the Equine Affaire in Springfield, MA on Friday. We haven't been since before Covid. It was a day full of horses. We had a lot of fun but was a bit disappointed that some of the vendors we used to see there were a no show. My mom fell in love with two horses, and I had to remind her that at 80 years old she didn't need any more animals.
QOTD: What has been your go to exercise since WLS? Mine has always been walking either outside or on the treadmill. If I had the option to do some water exercises, I would totally jump on it, but besides a YMCA there are no****er options around me so I will continue to walk.
B: 2 hardboiled eggs with mustard and a coffee
L: Sliced turkey breast with bok choy and mushrooms on the side
D: Chicken burger with salad
S: Venison jerky (something I got at the EA)
Have a great day everyone.
I feel like the Democratic party supporters got played. I would have have loved to have seen Michelle Obama be nominated and chosen as the Democratic candidate instead of stringing Biden along and then throwing Harris in. I would have voted for her in a minute.
Good Tuesday Everyone. Well, my husband and I were at the town hall at 6:02 this morning to vote. We were surprised at how many people were there waiting.
I've come to the conclusion over the last 6 months that no matter who gets in as President nothing is going to change for the better. Both sides have never truly said what they would do to change things while in office. They just bicker against each other say the same stupid **** over and over again. I'm tired of the commercials. I'm tired of the violence against people and properties because of who they chose to support. This election has been nothing but a dog and pony show. I still can't believe Trump and Harris were the best this country had to offer as candidates, at least there were other parties on the ballot to vote for. Yes, I don't like either one of them.
We went a few weeks ago bought a gun safe and $400 in ammo because it will be a cold day in hell if a Republican or Democrat tries to take my right away to defend myself and my property.
Any who I'm off my soapbox.
QOTD: I was either 14 or 15 and I would climb in the old apple tree behind the barn to get the apples near the top.
B: Mushroom tea
L: Turkey and cheese wrap
D: Chicken burger
I hope everyone has a safe day.
If you have access to a pool water exercises are great, but I know many of us don't have that option.
Youtube has a bunch of videos for seated exercises for people with limited mobility something like that might be an option. Resistance bands are a good choice also.
Good Monday morning everyone. We start our second plant outage this week and hopefully it will be noneventful. The tours went well last week, and we had almost 100 people come through to see how the plant works.
The weekend was pretty nice. Went through some clothes and donated a couple of big bags of stuff I haven't worn in years. Broke down my little greenhouse and stored it away until Spring. The garlic bed is ready to be planted and I have a few more things to do in the big garden to close it out for the season.
QOTD: My BMI is currently at 33.4 :( no one to blame but myself. The lowest I had gotten my BMI was 27.4 which had me at 180lbs and I felt pretty good at that weight. I guess I should weigh 160 or below to be in a healthy BMI range. I'll just keep plucking away day after day making small changes here and there and sticking to the changes.
B: 2 hard boiled eggs and Reishi mushroom tea
L: Kale and chicken soup
D: Baked cod with spinach
Have a nice day!!!
The movie Idiocracy comes to mind when it comes to evolution or devolution of the human race.
