Great pictures. When our kids were young I used to try and pass off the baboons as monkeys because i hated the smell of the monkey house and the Baboons lived outside. They didn't buy it.

Good morning, everybody!

QJB, I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. Hoping for the best and don't forget to take care of yourself also.

We had a good weekend. Thursday night was Pearl Jam at Wrigley Field. The concert was good, although for the 90's alternative era, I thought Green Day was a better concert. The warmup was an Irish singer that I hadn't heard of. He raved about IHOP in Downtown Chicago. Before the concert we went to the Draft Kings Sports Book. I didn't know that we had legalized sports gambling in Chicago, but apparently we do. We didn't gamble, but the facility was large and clean and the food was pretty good.

Friday morning came quickly, because we had to leave to get our flight for Oklahoma City. The Sooners pounded Temple and we got to see the schooner zip around the field many times. Saturday we went to the Oklahoma City *Bricktown district which is an outdoor canal and bar/restaurant area. We went on a boat tour and hit a couple of the local establishments. Sunday morning we flew back at 8:00 and were home by 11:00.

The plan for the rest of the weekend was Crossfit, College football and US Open. I got the workouts in, but was caught by surprise by the Disney/Direct TV carriage dispute. You can imagine that Marilyn is not happy about her US Open being blacked out. Boo!

Last Wednesday I had my 6th Surgiversary. I was so excited about the 28th being my Amex autopay that I forgot about the anniversary. Its been a great ride and I thank everybody for the support.

QOTD: In a couple of weeks we are going to Asia on a river cruise to Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. Other than that the holidays and football.

Breakfast: bagel

Lunch: tacos

Dinner: meatballs

Have a great day, all!

Good mornin all. QJB, so sorry to hear about your dad, sending up prayers for a faster recovery and that you find the things you need to help care for him and keep him safe.

I have a dentist appointment to get the impression for my bottom denture. I am not feeling very good. Every single inch of me hurts in some varying degrees. My back is a **** show and my shoulder and neck too. Just bothering me more than usual I guess. It'll probably be a long day ahead.

Miss Tange is doing well. She finally started playing with the toys we had gotten her. She seems to be filling out more and not so much bones sticking out. She has caught glimpses of the other kitties and she is not a fan but has absolutely no fear of the dogs and doesn't mind them one bit. Tomorrow we take her to the veterinary to get preventative care and some tests.

QOTD: when the bugs die at the first freeze!

B: eggs, chicken sausage and coffee

L: ???

D: probably a salad.

That is so scary and I am so sorry for what you are going through. I spent the last few days at home and avoiding everyone. I skipped a birthday party and a Labor Day party because so much Covid here. I plan to get the new vaccine today. But I will stay away from my exercise sessions at the senior center for another week.

It is reality that the body becomes weaker and I think I am about the same age as your dad. There are challenges and I work on them a day at a time.

It is sad to think that summer is over. Fall is nice but I know another winter is on the way. Hope your dad keeps improving. Glad Grim is back and hope your fa!l activities are great fun.

Good morning everyone - happy first taco tuesday in SEPTEMBER. September people! Wow

QJB, nothing wrong with checking out for your mental health, in fact, it's probably a healthy occasional coping mechanism. I hope your dad gets sorted out and if he needs to move into a care facility, there are good ones available that are convenient for you and your mom. Maybe there's a home heal care step that will be available first though.

QoTD - I have a couple of concerts this month, homecoming for one of my nephews, a long weekend in Nashville with a girl friend and of course getting my halloween decorations up, trick or treaters and Thanksgiving. I love fall.

I tried to reply/post a few times but was blocked from South Africa; but I read a bit when I had availability. I don't think I will go back and try to recreate replies over the last 2 or so weeks though.

Back to work today and ready for some normality, our last 4 days I don't think I broke 2K steps any of the days and I need the exercise for my mental state. Somehow, I came home 2.3 lbs lighter than I left, and I found the solution for sleeping on long haul flights (2 glasses of wine, a unisom and my malaria pill) and slept for about 7 of the 15 hour leg, can't beat that.

Yesterday, I did get in a short walk and some stretching but my steps and activity level were low so back on track today. I was disappointed that while I was diligent to get my 1X a week workout with my on-line program, only one of the sessions registered so my 126 week streak came to an end, technically. Back to week 1.

Today is getting a walk in before I start work, work, running to the UPS store at some point to mail my sister's bday present and laundry.

I did have a grocery delivery so I'm set up for the right choices this week!

coffee plus half and half X3

greek yogurt with granola

salami and cheese

polish sausage

I will bore everyone with pictures for a few days, even though it's not Photo Friday.

Good Morning everyone. Well, it's been a very tough few days for me. Grim was away, and my Dad ended up back in the hospital. Apparently he caught COVID on the plane with me last weekend and he's not doing too well. His oxygen dropped so low that it caused a heart attack. He's in the ICU and they are monitoring him closely. It's so scary and awful. I will just go ahead and admit that I comforted myself with some crappy carbs this weekend and I turned off my phone and just tried to ignore the world. I am really scared -- not that he's not going to pull through, but that his body is becoming too fragile for him to live safely without assistive care. I went ahead and bought some new things for my parents to help make home safer for him, but I don't know if this is a long term solution or not. He's been in the hospital more than not over the last 4 weeks :(

But on the plus side, Grim came home after I went to bed last night and it was nice to wake up with him next to me this morning. Back to work today and hopefully a normal day will help whip me back into shape.

QOTD: What are you looking forward to this fall? I feel like I missed summer because I never made it to a beach and barely saw the sun. So I am determined to take advantage of some autumn joy. I want to pick apples, carve pumpkins, go up to the mountains to see the leaves, and do all the things.

  • protein coffee
  • 1/2 breakfast burrito
  • cauliflower crust pizza
  • mushrooms & turkey meatballs

Topic: Happy Labor Day! What?s on your Monday menu?

Good mornin everyone! Hoping we all have a great day!

Not a lot happening here and that is ok with me. We may go for a drive but I doubt that. My brother is picking up a shelf for Rachel this morning.

QOTD: if calories were no issue and carbs didn't exist what would be your favorite beverage?

mine would be a frappe with two extra shots of espresso and lots of whipped cream. Can you tell what I'm craving?

My mother did not sew and we always had costumes from the store. I remember one year being a witch and think another year was a bride. When my son was in nursery school, I wanted to be the mother that made costumes and made him a costume that was some type of animal. He cried his eyes out because everyone else had a costume from the store. That was my first and last attempt to make his costumes.
