Mornin' All!

another busy week this week, but things should slow down after this. I have one of my film groups later this morning, then a meeting with the administrators of the Alzheimer's research center on campus (another unit we're planning to leave money to after we croak), then two presentations later this afternoon and evening (both on campus) - first by Brandon Johnson (mayor of Chicago) and then Nancy Pelosi. Really looking forward to this! I need to get cracking on reading for my classes, but not sure if I'll get to it today.

we had another contractor come to our house late last week to give us an estimate on the replacing the rest of our windows. He said the couple that have "issues" can be repaired (and it's pretty straight forward - a DIY project if we want to tackle it ourselves), and the rest just need some TLC. No rot or anything (what we thought was rot on a couple of them is just mildew - we can take it off and just re-paint). Thank God. This guy may have just saved me $30K (plus he said since we have storm windows, the amount of energy we're going to save by replacing the remaining windows isn't going to amount to that much - maybe 10% - so it'd take a REALLY long time to make up the cost of the new windows - way longer than than we'll probably continue to live here). We have another guy scheduled to come later this week. I'm not sure if I should cancel him, or just see what he says.

QOTD: Troobsh

food has been up and down. Great some days, not so great others. Should be easier this week with a lot going on, and none if it food-oriented.

coffee with half & half

protein pancakes topped with plain skyr and homemade SF peach butter

protein pumpkin muffin

some salads I brought home from a lunch thing yesterday - they all feature things like beans, vegetables, and whole grains. So a bite or two of some of of those plus some kind of protein

I'll be on campus until later tonight, so I should probably take a protein bar with me

have a great day, everyone!

Good morning ~ Great chair! Nice relaxing weekend some fun, some chores and the best nap yesterday so I can't complain. I'm happy to be back to the structured work week. Busy me is more productive and stays on track. On the weekends, I usually have a plan in my head and then don't follow through. I feel like I deserve to do nothing, but finally have the time to do everything and waste it. I never regret doing all the things, if fact it feels amazing. I need to work on that. I received my posture sport bra last week and wore it all weekend. It either really helped with my neck and shoulder pain or it was a coincidence. It is very comfortable and supportive on my shoulders and back - I love it but was it worth the price? I can't wear it to work, so I will find out this week when wearing non-posture things.

QOTD - Oobmy

Accountability - better yesterday, but F/Sa were not good. 5 active min and 6,197 steps. Today I am 171.0 with 30 minutes done on the treadmill.

B- coffee, legendary pastry

l - ham and cheese on protein bread

d - grilled chicken and salad

S - string cheese, yogurt, nectarine

Have a great day!

Good luck with working from home during the renovations. It will probably be very noisy and your cats will be quite unhappy. They do not like loud strangers to invade their territory. But it will be great knowing that there is new heating equipment this winter.

The chair is absolutely beautiful. I remember when I was growing up there were a few men who did what they called "caning" and they would repair those type of chairs when there was wear and tear to them. It is probably getting close to being a lost art now.

Weight loss is such a frustrating experience. I know it took me about three years to lose 30 pounds. I was not taking medicine, but was at online Weigh****cher meetings one, two or three times a day, especially during the pandemic. I no longer have "good" or "bad" foods and just eat anything I want. But very small portions. My sister went with me to a nurse visit recently and the nurse asked me if I eat big portions. Before I could answer, my sister siad, "She doesn't eat, she nibbles".

That does pretty much sum it up now. I don't track or count calories, but I eat very tiny portions. I still kept the habit of weighing myself in the morning and before bed at night.

Good morning, everybody!

I did get to the hospital's drop in blood clinic at 6:30 on Friday, but they have a skeleton staff until 7:00 AM, so I still had to wait for about 45 minutes. By the time that i left the hospital, I hit square into morning traffic. But I made it through. And I got a free lunch because my steak was overcooked. And I was able to work out Friday afternoon without any ill effects from the draw. So, not a bad Friday.

Most of the results came back, and to nobody's surprise, I am not malnourished.

The rest of the weekend went well. A couple of trips to the gym, got my haircut, and I am all packed for Asia. I really studied the itinerary last night and realized that I didn't have much idea where I was actually going. But now we are on track and ready to go. The only thing is that I wrote all of the details into a date book that I wasn't planning on bringing with me. I guess that I will have to change that tack.

Three days of work and three workouts before we leave. Since I am going to be away so much, I am trying to be pretty much full time in the office between the triathlon and Thursday, when we depart. So another office day today.

QOTD: Joobm.

Breakfast: egg sandwich

Lunch: catered

Dinner: Bratwurst and Pierogies

Have a great day, all!

^^yep, that's the reason^^

Good Morning all! I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. Grim came home and brought me the most beautiful chair I have ever seen. He is so talented. It's great to have him home :) But no rest for the weary, because today begins the house renovation madness. We start with removing the oil tank and replacing it with the gas burner. I'm working from home today so I hope it won't be too disruptive! I have tons of meetings so the day should go quickly.

QOTD: Replace all the vowels in your name with 'oob' :) Mine is just great. Jooblooboob!

Accountability: I wasn't perfect this weekend but even when I made questionable choices, I didn't eat enough to do much damage. I didn't lose anything this weekend, though.

  • protein coffee
  • chicken sausage
  • refried beans and goat cheese tostada
  • veggie burger

I have a summer cold ( a week after getting the flu shot ! ) which I definitely did not expect.

Yesterday I spent the morning in bed coughing and reading.

Today was very warm so I spent the day in the sun gardening my terrace. ( sunburned my back as proof lol) This is first time in a LONG time I dared wear a workout bra top and shorts and showed my belly to the sun.

My body isn?t perfect but I?m working on it!

Food - ginger tea w ff milk, cream of mushroom soup w fresh mushrooms n veggies, olive bread for breakfast, skipped lunch ( too hot ) Tandoori chicken breast w peanut sauce for dinner mashed potatoes n sweet potatoes, spinach soufflé . Grapes.

Exercise- gardening ( installed a fountain, repotted and deadheaded) a BUNCH of plants, container planted a short evergreen hedge as tall as me )

A beautiful black and white spotted ( pigeon size ) bird took an elaborate bath in the fountain yesterday - I wish I had my phone on hand to photograph and identify him

. I've never seen a bird like that anywhere all these years so I'm curious. Many different species migrate through Central Park - there's actually a club of avid bird watchers who photograph identify and count them every year ! There are even hawks here ... preying on pigeons and mice and nesting on Park Avenue windowsills!

Good morning! What a nice Saturday we had. I scored some good finds at HomeGoods and I think I found the rug I want. The living room is filling up with color and for the first time in many years, I'm excited about that and embracing it. Even Rog seems on board. I was picking placemats for the table and he was trying to get me to do all Halloween. I stuck to fall and then he said we'll just get more for the new season and rotate them. So fun. I did great on food and indulged in 2 glasses of wine. I clocked like 3 minutes of exercise and , 5,187 steps. I'll do better today.

My son came into town yesterday for a concert and we are having a family lunch together today. I've offered to host it here, but the kids may all decide on a restaurant or miniature golf or something. Whatever as long as I get to see them all. No other real plans for today.

QoTD: It's a big week of exercising, book club and coffee date after, checking out a new dog sitter, etc. Exciting life over here right now. October and November are looking crazy, so I'll just enjoy the quiet times.

Bites today

B: egg bake and slice of bacon

L: TBD

D: Also TBD depending on what happens with family lunch plans.

Peace!

Good morning ~ I'm up at the crack o' every day and I can't imagine sleeping in until it's light out anymore. Plus Bubba kitty won't have me sleeping past 3:30 now anyway. I'm not complaining, I love the quiet early morning. Yesterday was fun but the plan went out the window when presented with yummy food and drink. The birthday roll has gone on long enough. I want a clean, high protein/fiber day. No major plans today besides laundry, organizing my tiny closet (just ordered a new dresser that should help tremendously) vacuuming, NFL, grilling for dinner. I didn't get my hike in yesterday, so I may do that today when I need a break from football.

QOTD - not much, it's just the usual work schedule.

Accountability - Food was good choices, just way too much that's for sure and about 2 glasses of wine. 2 active minutes and 5,184 steps - HA! I had no idea it was that low, I was lazy. Today I'm 172.0 and mad, but it's all me, and on me to turn it around.

B- coffee, egg and bacon

l - ham and cheese on protein bread

s- 94/7 grilled burger no bun - maybe zero tortillas as a bun

s-protein chips, nectarine

Have a great day!

True story /\

I'm up, not really a good thing but I'm going to try and make use of the time. I can start chainmailling again. Yay! I only had to take 48 hours or so off of it. I have to work with some 14swg wire in stainless steel so I had to wait.

I'm going to call either tomorrow or Tuesday to see if I can get a full work up of my labs. I am just hoping they'll agree to it. I don't see my PCP until November.

Today is grocery day. Other than that nothing much is planned. I need to do laundry and hopefully I'll fit in a nap.

QOTD: What are you looking forward to in the week ahead?

I have an appointment tomorrow to get he look of my denture finalized so hopefully by he end of the week I'll have the final version. May be next week but I am looking forward to it.

B: eggs, cheese and coffee

L: chicken and corn

D: ????
