I always loved going to plays and don't anymore because of my hearing difficulties. I wish there was a way to have closed captioning at plays. Even with hearing aids, it is difficult to hear in a church or auditorium. Enjoy the time with you new friend.

I make my own baked apple in the microwave with cinnamon and sweetener. One of my favorite autumn snacks. It is interesting that some of the items in the imaginary forest are true for people. I always found it a fun group exercise.

When we did it in class, my body of water was a pond that was frozen over. On the surface it was shiny and beautiful, but under the water was mud and slimy things like snakes and frogs. My psychology professor really liked that answer. I admired the pond but walked around it.

Wu-tang - as in Hip Hop? (I'm taking a terrific course on Hip Hop - so I recognize that name!!) (knew very little about Hip Hop before - so I'm glad I'm taking the class so I won't continue to be completely clueless..)

Mornin' All!

one of my film discussion groups meets today at noon over lunch. I just checked the menu since this is a new place for us. The soup and salad combo it is! Not much else going on, but it'll be a busy weekend, so I'm going to use today to get caught up with some things - class readings and a few things I've been procrastinating about and just need to tie up and be done with them. Weekend plans include a university women's volleyball game on Saturday and a play on Sunday (going with a new friend)

didn't do the QOTD (didn't login until late yesterday) but a few of those items are true of me (not all, though..) (based on what I WOULD have picked)

coffee with half & half

protein pancakes topped with plain skyr and diced/cooked apples in SF apple butter

soup (not sure what the soup of the day is there) and a side salad with dressing on the side

protein shake or Greek yogurt for a snack

Loma Linda taco filling (1/2 a pack) on salad greens topped with tomatoes, plain Greek yogurt, and salsa

ex: it's a beautiful day today, so if the wind speed is OK (under 15 mph), I'll bike - otherwise, I'll take a walk

have a great day, everyone!

Good morning all and Happy Friday,

My intention today is to give compliments to anyone and everyone. It can't be a surface compliment, either. Starting off, big shout out to all the OH peeps who have made the struggle so much easier. I'm not sure I'd be able to maintain this lifestyle without everyone here

I'm really looking forward to spending quality time with Paula tonight. I'm starting to consider entertaining anything serious again.

9am zoom with new bariatric office. I'm trying to switch my follow up care from my current office.

Our beautiful fall weather is continuing. It is cool, crisp, and dry with lots of sunshine. The nicest fall weather here that I can remember. My niece is a therapist and many of her clients are devastated about the election. She is getting upset herself from listening to people who are frightened. We are trying to talk to her and let her know that life will probably go on without a lot of changes. But it is just a difficult time for her.

We are having a family get together this weekend and looking forward to seeing people from out of town. The last time all of my sisters were together was in 2015. It is hard to believe how quickly the years pass by. Three of them are flying today from NC and will stay until Monday. Should be a lot of fun.

Here are the answers to yesterday's walk in the imaginary forest.

Take a Walk in the Forest You Build for Yourself.

Your forest has a path. Describe the path ? smooth, rocky, straight, curvy?
The path is how you see life. Do you stick to predictable and straight path or prefer different adventures.

Your forest has trees. Trees are how you perceive reality. Real trees like oak or maple mean you live in reality. Imaginative trees like feather trees mean you live in fantasy.

You come to a body of water. Describe it. Ocean, pond, lake, creek, what does it look like? What do you do when you come to the water? The water is how you see sex. Did anyone see an ocean? How you interact with the pond is how open you are to sexual adventures. Many people go swimming. Some avoid the water altogether.

You find a key on the ground. Describe it. Size, color, condition. What do you do about the key? The key indicates the type of people you like for friends. An old rusty key means you like down to earth people. A fancy key means you want fancy friends. If you keep the key, you keep your friends and value them. If you leave the key on the ground or throw it away, then you do not value friends.

Your forest has animals. Describe them. Bunnies? Lions? Wolf?? Any animals you want.
The animals are your fears. Big threatening fears or normal tame fears.

Your forest comes to a high wall. Describe what is on the other side of the wall.
The wall how you see the end of life. The other side is what comes after life. Most people see a beautiful peaceful place. Some people see the path going on.

I plan to make barbequed ribs in the Instant Pot today. I will also make some cornbread. That will be a few meals and something different.

Have a great day.

that's weird your insurance doesn't cover phentermine. That's the only thing mine DOES cover unless your BMI is over 30 (or 35? Can't remember). So I'm stuck with that. It does help a bit.

boy - Teenie is right - seems to be a lot of drop-off here lately. Although I'm guilty, too - just too much going on lately, and then there was the election. Yesterday was a terrible day because of it. Feeling better today, but not looking forward to four more years of sleepless nights wondering what ridiculous or awful thing the grand Poobah is going to do next. But here we are again..

I really need to watch a film for tomorrow morning's film discussion group. I feel hopelessly behind on everything, but I need to do this.

eating has been OK lately, exercise not so much, but I did bike to class and back this afternoon because the weather was good for it. I"m glad I did it.

here's what I've eaten today:

coffee with half & half

protein pancakes topped with plain skyr and diced, cooked apples

iced latte made with 2% milk and SF syrup

Chobani yogurt - the 20 grams of protein kind

slice of Danish rye bread with butter and jam

way too much Lesser Evil popcorn

I need about 20 more grams of protein, so I'll have a shake or a thing of yogurt later tonight. Or I might make some protein ice cream and have some of that...

I'll try to be better about checking in from now on!!

QOTD- I went for a walk yesterday in my local forest. The path is both paved and gravel at times. Oaks, Fir, Maple, Vine Maple, Pines, Cedars. The only water is a creek and a couple of ponds. No key in sight. The only animals I saw were birds and fat squirrels yesterday but I have seen snakes, bunnies, chipmunks and deer. No wall.

I had to get out and walk yesterday to clear my head and just breathe. It's not the end of the world even though it feels like it.

Today is another sunny but cold day, there was frost this morning. I would love to go walk but I'm getting my nails done so it will be too late (dark) by the time I'm done.

Have a great day everyone. I hope QJB's Dad is OK and that we will see the others back soon.

Mine is at 2, easier to work from home after since it'd about 1/2 hour drive to get back.
