What's on your Thursday Menu?
Good morning gang. We got some rain last night and today it is windy, but 50 out. The temps are slowly getting warmer here in the Northeast.
A friend posted yesterday on FB that he was at a local feed store and couldn't figure out why there was a line out the door. Come to find out people were there to purchase chicks to raise their own chickens for eggs. Now don't get me wrong I think it's great that people want to grow their own stuff, but if you've never raised chicken before then you have no idea what oneself is getting into. It takes 6 months before they are at laying age and by the time that comes around, we will be heading into Fall which means the chicken will experience their first molt. Then Winter hits and chickens don't really lay much of any eggs due to the darker days. So basically, if someone gets chicks now, they will be raising them for a year before they get much of any eggs and that's if they don't lose them to predators or something else. These people will spend more money on trying to have chickens than they would for those $10 a dozen eggs in the store. But what do I know I've only been raising them for 20 years.
QOTD: If you had the land and the time would you grow your own food even if it is just fruits and vegetables? You all know I already do that, but we are always looking for a larger piece of land to be able to grow more stuff. We are hoping to add a few sheep to the homestead this year for both more milk and meat.

Have a great day everyone!!!!
Good Morning! It's Friday-Eve but it definitely feels like it should be Friday. We are getting some rain too but I think we get a break after today for a few days. Today is my 21st wedding anniversary, but we celebrated our 25th dating anniversary last month so we don't have much planned.
QOTD: At this point in life I don't enjoy yardwork so I don't think I would. I like the fresh produce and maybe later in the future I'd enjoy it if I had the time.

Good mornin y'all.
Nothing much happening today. We may go to a certain grocery store for some sale items. We might be getting some snow this weekend, Saturday. I'm over the cold and especially the snow. My body is over it!
I got sick yesterday from a sugar overdose. I went to Buckees with my peer support friend. I had two small samples of fudge and that's all it took. An hour later I was feeling like **** I'll never learn it seems. Still not feeling great but the iron supplement is keepin my stomach in a constant state of upset.
QOTD: I don't have much of a green thumb. If I tried animal raising I'd never eat 'em again. We're thinking of trying growing some veggies this year but not on a big scale.
B: eggs, sausage and cheese + coffee
L: burrito
D: probably chicken and a small salad
I have always lived in town, but we had a great garden when I was growing up and I remember the fresh tomatoes, corn, potatoes, green beans, peppers, peas, and brussel sprouts. I had gardens through the years, even if they were small. I am no longer able to do that and do miss the really fresh produce. If I were stronger I would use our community garden where they assign each person some land to plant and grow their own crops.
