Good morning weekenders ~ Here for accountability as always. I'd rather sleep in but just can't. Foot-good, work-sucks and I spend less than $100 for once at Costco yesterday! I ended the day with a 2nd dinner w/wine and going over 700 calories and I feel like a whale right now - no offense to actual whales...And the dodgers won - great game ending with a grand slam in the 10th, it was awesome. Today I am taking Chloe on a short hike, getting a pedicure, grocery store for a couple things. There is a little festival in town - fall themed w/car show - I might walk over and walk around. House stuff of course. We are grilling tonight and watching the original Halloween movie tonight. There is hope for a nap in there too!

QOTD - How do you deal with setbacks like going off the rails or missing your workouts? Old diet culture is deeply ingrained in me and I first beat myself like we were taught - it's very cruel. You can't be cruel to yourself and stay motivated. Self compassion whether you think you deserve it or not can help you stay motivated. When you give yourself grace and move on, you are being as kind to yourself as you would a friend. Would you be cruel to a friend? All this to say for me - I ate too much pizza and had 2 glasses of wine on top of my entire menu yesterday and while I'm mad I did it, I am moving forward no punishment. I'll get to kind words at some point - I'm work in progress.

Accountability - see above - not great for food, but 66 active minutes and 11,760 steps. 167.8 this morning - no real plan to exercise - just be semi-active today.

b- coffee, eggbeater and cheese wrap in air fryer

l - rotisserie chicken and salad

d - grilled lemon dijon chicken and asparagus

s - hot quest chips with plain greek yogurt dip

Have a great day!

We are so much harder on ourselves than we would be with others. What really matters is the good habits we practice every day and not the occasional slip up. This week the Great British Baking Show had a technical to make spanokopita. It is a Greek spinach pie made with phyllo dough, spinach, and feta cheese. I have never eaten it and decided to order it for dinner.

When it came I really did not care for it. It looks delicious but just too salty and the feta seemed to strong, although I love feta in Greek salads. I ended up putting it in the refrigerator to see if I like it better today, but probably won't. Most likely will order pizza for dinner. I hate wasting food, but sometimes can't help it.

It is 47 degrees here and will be cold and rainy this weekend, but next week back to the 70's and sunshine. Probably the last nice weather before next spring so I will be out enjoying it.

QOTD: I totally get the beating myself up. And I do that, not as often as before. First, I make sure my falling off the tracks is just one meal, and doesn't go beyond that. Sometimes even that is hard with the mentality "well, the weekend is ruined...might as well...". But if I can keep it at one meal that's a win in my book. I also try and emulate a normie. What do they do when they overeat at a party or a celebration? They eat less the next day, not to punish themselves but simply because they are not as hungry. I've heard so many times DH says I'll skip this meal because I still feel full. It's not a punishment for what he ate before but an adjustment.

Rob does that too! I've been overwriting those normie adjustments with my food obsession forever. I listen to my body more now. I have gotten SO much better at stopping at 1 discretion and not letting it roll in to a whole day, weekend or more.

The QOTD was very interesting and I wanted to chime in.
I usually lurk, as in do a quick read about every body and go about my business, but your question stopped me to think. And that's a good thing.

Good morning. I'm with Mary. It's not what you do occasionally, it's what you do consistently. Back on your wagon, girl.

I also was a total fail yesterday. Not food. When I have so much pre-planned and stocked like I do right now, I do well on food. But I did zero exercise and had 2 glasses of wine. I did lots of little chores and lots of running around, but nothing close to exercise. My hip is real unhappy. Pretty certain I have Bursitis again. Like Amy's foot, the only real cure is extra care and time. Hoping to keep moving and find a way to accommodate the pain. Dr. Google says, walking yes, stairs no. Under accountability... 335 move calories, 9 minutes of exercise, 8,066 steps, 94 grams of protein. I did not meet a single goal. Poop.

Today we are taking the girls for High Tea. Finally paying off the birthday gift from February. Dang those little girls are busy and scheduling this has been a challenge. But today is the day! And we have great friends coming for dinner on the patio, fire pit and spending the night. This means I am in high prep mode to feed us all, but I love my menu and I'm having fun pulling it together. I'll be doing lots of little steps and I hope to walk to High Tea which will give me about 20 minutes of actual intentional movement.

QoTD: I really just try to own a new day. I review (when I am weighing in first thing) my day, admit where I blew it and move on to greet another day. Can't go back in time to fix it. Onwards.

Bites today

B: a little chicken to push me through to High Tea

L: at 11. So early for me. Soup, and a few bites of this and that. I expect it to be very carby, so I will be careful.

D: yum. Can't wait. Authentic from the Mexican grocery store Carne Asada, chicken thighs, fun cheeses, mixed veggies grilled way down on the flat top, refried beans. I bought coffee creme brulee's for all of them, and none for me.

I'll fill in with some yogurt and rotisserie chicken since it's going to be a weird day.

I'm off to make some fresh chimichurri for tonight and basil pesto for tomorrow's breakfast. Have a great Saturday!

Peace.

I agree about consistency being more important, not dwelling and moving on!! I want to stop my negative self talk in-between, it's so hard wired.

Do you have a topper for your mattress? My chronic hips pain improved quite a bit after getting one.

High tea with the grands sounds fabulous!! Pic's please!!

We had a tea room in our city for a while and I could never get any of my friends to go. They thought it was a weird idea. Now I wish I had just gone on my own. There is none around here now. My family was Irish and we did have tea every afternoon. The kids usually had very weak tea with a lot of milk and the grownups had strong tea with whiskey and lemon or coffee with whiskey. There were sandwiches cut into 4ths and sometimes little cakes.

Other kids had milk and cookies after school. We had afternoon tea.

Have fun today.
