I was working in IT during the 1980's and 1990's. Our motivation was the Franklin Planner system. We read books and attended workshops on the value of planning and how to do it in an organized way. We had beautiful binders, preprinted pages, and even a software program to prepare your daily lists and to print them out before putting them in the binder.

We used a system where you put down everything for the day and then assigned it a priority of A for most important to accomplish, B for important but not essential, and C for things to do if you still had time after the A and B tasks were accounted for.

When you had a block of free time, you pulled out you planner and picked a C task. Those were usually enjoyable things like watching TV or reading a novel.

After I retired from work at 61 I quit planning and the days began to run together for me. I had all the time in the world but never accomplished much. At some point, I realized that I still needed daily planning. I take 15 minutes every day and spend it on my To Do list. My list is in MS Word on my computer.

I currently do it in the evening before going to bed and plan for the next day. I don't assign priorities, but I do assign times. It keeps me on track and gives me some structure. This is a sample of tasks for today.

I am working on seting up the new LitterRobot box and hoping to eliminate cleaning litterbox from my tasks when my cat figures out how to use it. It has a 30 page instruction manual in very small print. I am getting it connected to WiFi and programmed.

Wow Mary, you are scheduled to the nines! I'm glad it works for you. I'm not that organized but do intend make a more comprehensive list over the weekend so I can stay on track. Good luck setting up litter robot!

Good morning and happy Friday!

I bailed on my workout classes today. Lots of hip pain. But I am planning to get in a walk and a yoga video.

Accountability yesterday went well. Not enough protein at 68 grams. 554 move calories, 95 minutes of exercise, 11,553 steps. Lots of water. 1 See's candy.

It's a bit cooler today and I'm looking forward to hosting company tomorrow night. I have lots of little things to accomplish for the meals. Make a chimichurri. Make a basil pesto. Slice and dice a ton of veggies so I can not have to do it while they are here. Decorate the back patio table for a fun Halloween themed dinner. A little cleaning. A little shopping. And the walk and the yoga. All together I should have a fairly active, on my feet day. Though Sheila and Amy turned me on to a new book and I keep going back to pick it up. Some Choose Darkness.

QoTD: I definitely have a list in my head! Weighing daily. Plenty of water. Good food choices. Some intentional exercise. Sunshine on my face to keep my moods even. As I fall asleep at night, or try to, I go over my day. I think about each meal and own what I should not have done and I congratulate myself on hitting any move goals. It helps calm my brain for sleep mode.

Bites today

B: leftover Carne Asada and egg

L: leftover taco filling stuffed squash

D: pork chop, Halloumi, tomatoes, small piece Naan

3ish: yogurt with mix ins

9ish: rotisserie chicken

Today is brown dog's 7th birthday. Here's to him and the start of the Trick or Treat season for the Grands! Anyone able to guess what Alivia is this year?

Is that a Pop tart? I can't figure out the orange unless it is a recycle bin. So cute. Happy 7th B-day Monti!!

Ding, ding, ding, Chrissy! You are a winner. Definitely a Pop tart and a recycle bin. Alivia designed both. She's very creative.
