My primary doctor prescribed an extended release medication for me. I told her that due to my RNY WLS that extended release medication are not recommended. She looked it up on the computer and said that it would be fine. Have things changed or am I remembering things wrong from my WLS classes?

That's what they told me too, but maybe there are differ types of ER meds these days? Can you ask what about this medication makes it fine ? Maybe it is absorbed differently?

Some medications seem to be made only in extended release form - like my Wellbutrin 150 mg XR which is a very mild antidepressant that helps me breathe, function and exercise.

Interestingly enough the 300 ( which I use when starting intensive exercise like swimming laps for an hour ) is NOT XL.

That's med she prescribed. I'm on the 150 mg XR right now. I go back in 6 weeks.

Everybody reacts different to different meds. I have had trouble in the past with just a Dramamine. I suggest starting this med when you have time to see how you will react. I would not do it when I didn't have to work or drive just to be safe.
