Lol, I always romanticized getting my tonsils out until I actually had them out. They all lied! There was no ice cream - I couldn't swallow or eat anything!

Oh, I had ice cream. At 4 years old nothing was stopping me from eating ice cream.

I hope the docs figure out what's wrong. Health issues are trouble enough, but not knowing what's causing them is a lot more frustrating.

8 hour appendectomy is crazy. Soon they'll be doing heart transplants and sending you home the same day.

Thank you and I'm glad they are looking at everything.

It is crazy! I wrote 24 hours, but it was actually 12 hours from onset to home - nuts!

Hope your sister recovers quickly and that you get some answers to the concerning health things.

Mornin' All!

we have a meeting later this morning at a contractor's office. We want to replace the other half of the windows in our house - but I had a heart attack when I saw the bid. I knew it was going to be expensive - around $20K - but it was double that. WTF? We've had windows replaced before, but really? I think we need to get another estimate or two. Plus there was a mistake in this proposal. He put that the bathroom windows were going to be pine on the interior that they would stain, and the bedroom windows would come with white pre-painted interior. Nope - it's the opposite of that. Stained wood in the bedrooms, white paint in the bathrooms. It's not a huge deal and I assume it wouldn't cost any - or much - more to switch that in the contract, but little mistakes like that in the contract give me pause. We've had this company do a couple of big remodeling jobs before (two bathrooms and a family room - all gutted) and were pretty happy with them, but that was years ago. Between the cost and the mistake in the bid, I'll get more estimates. I'm sure they'll be crazy expensive, too, but even saving $5000 is still $5000...

We're going to a wine & cheese type social tonight, otherwise, nothing. I plan to make a huge dent in the book today that we'll be discussing in my book discussion group on Monday.

QOTD: sometimes I do when I'm overseas, but not in the US. They're usually little things - like the mug I got in Scotland with a drawing (in color) of a Highland cow on it. I also got a little bowl with a lemon painted on it in Italy - in some village on the Amalfi coast (oh - I also got some new house numbers for our house there, too - tiles that had lemons painted around the edges)

coffee with half and half

skyr with fruit

cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie

protein muffin?

I'll be at the wine and cheese thing at dinner. I'm bringing black bean dip and tortilla chips (there are other things besides just wine & cheese). I don't know what else will be there, but I only eat homemade things at events that feature a lot of food, and I mostly just try not to eat like a pig.

have a great day, everyone!

I have 4 windows that I need to have replaced, and I have no idea what it is going to cost. The largest one is in my bedroom on the 2nd floor and is 98" x 48" not exactly a common size. I keep getting these flyers buy one get one 40% off but I've also heard that they are the most expensive window company around. I'm going to have to do some research, I also have vinyl siding so that could complicate things. I'm not even sure where to start.
