What's on your Thursday Menu?
We had a big family. There were 13 kids and my parents and often some neighbor kids at the table. My mother was not a great cook but did cook large quantities of food. I was not allowed to cook because it would be too expensive if a meal burned. Her favorite was the 20 or more pound turkeys that she prepared for holidays and the many meals of leftover turkey that followed. She made a lot of cakes and pies and her pies are still the best I ever ate. She knew exactly how long to work the crust so it was always flakey.
