Mornin' All!

so we're taking a tour of the city water treatment plant this afternoon (a nice name for the "sewer treatment plant"). Earlier this summer I was remembering touring such a plant when I was in elementary school and was fascinated by it, so I checked and this plant also offers tours - the first Friday of every month. Evidently they're popular since they were booking two months out at the time - and today is the day. It's supposed to be really hot and humid again today, so hopefully the place is not going to smell (although some of the stuff is outside - hopefully that includes any containers with raw sewage in them!)

yesterday afternoon my cat's eye was almost completely crusted over - the discharge (which he has frequently) dried up and completely covered his eye, so I couldn't do his drops. I called the ophthalmologist's office since she told me yesterday morning at his appt that if that ever happened, I needed to bring him in because she'd need to sedate him in order to get it out. So I called - but she'd left at noon and won't be bac****il Monday. There are also emergency vets who work in her building, but no one was comfortable working with eyes, so I was told to put drops of purified water on it (we do have a bottle of that****il it was soft enough to safely remove. After an hour or so it was enough to continue his drops, and by this morning it was completely gone. The last big chunk of it must have been soft enough to just fall off. Whew. So that was our excitement for the day.

not much else going on. Still too hot and muggy to exercise outdoors, but supposedly this tour includes a lot of walking around and going up and down stairs, so hopefully I'll get a lot of steps in.

QOTD: probably bacon - we used to have it occasionally and I loved waking up to that smell. I almost never make it anymore, though

coffee with half & half

skyr with fruit (BTW - the cheesemaking supply company in Northampton, MA (where I get my rennet) wants me to take pictures of my skyr - they want to do an article on it!)

protein muffin

salad with diced chicken and low-cal dressing

protein shake or L&F yogurt

maybe crab cakes and green beans?

have a great day, all!

I mentioned we had a meeting with the development person for the athletic dept at the university earlier this week. She took us on a tour of the facility after our meeting - this is us (DH and I) out on the football field (Camp Randall stadium - home of the Wisconsin Badgers). It was ENORMOUS! (we're planning to fund women's ice hockey, though - perhaps a scholarship - so not football)

I saw the sign for Northampton when my aunt was taking me to the Hartford airport earlier this summer (she lives in southern Vermont). I wasn't aware at the time that the cheesemaking supply store was there! I've been on their mailing list for years!

Cheesemaking supply company in Northampton? I've been thinking of making cheese for a long time. I should look them up.

yep! Here you go. They have lots of cheese recipes on their web site, too. I made mozzarella once and paneer a couple of times (both are considered easy to make - which they were) - I should probably get back into it

Thanks! I've heard that mozzarella is very easy. I'd love to do a wicked sharp cheddar, but it seems much more involved.
