What's on your Monday Menu?
Mornin' All!
not much going on today, so I'm going to continue reading the book for my book discussion group and get caught up on one of my classes (the second one I'm caught up on, fortunately). It's supposed to rain this afternoon (yet again...), but it looks fine up until about noon. I'd go biking, but I've done so much lately that I'm feeling pretty sore. Maybe I'll go for a walk - or just take the day off.
QOTD: I couldn't deal with the crowds, so probably not - but one of the student workers from back when I worked at the university is the former VP of ABC Sports, so he went to every Olympics during the time he had that job (he left that position a few years ago when a new CEO came in with his own team, and he (student friend) got some high falutin position at the US Tennis Association. He's now retired.
coffee with half & half

I went to see Joe Biden here in town on Friday. We were in the overflow room (over 1000 people came!), but that was actually better because they had two huge screens in front of us (and I was in the front row), so we got a much better view that way. Plus he stopped by the overflow room after his speech to talk to us. It was fantastic! He was about three feet in front of me at one point! Unbeknownst to me, someone was there from NewsNation (well, lots of press types where there - but mostly in the main room), and my sister spotted me on national TV! (she lives in Nevada). She was able to get this picture!! (second pic is cropped from the first - I'm in the purple shirt)
G'morning all!
Oh my goodness, I'd love to hold a chunky baby like that.
Here we go, another week. Although this is a short week for me work wise. Taking off on Wed to go to DC to be one of the movers and drivers for DD. First part of the move is to Philly, and then mid August to Chicago.
We had a nice weekend. Sat was mostly lazy. Sun we got together with friends to celebrate a belated 4th of July bbqing and using all the food we had bought to have it on the 4th, and we all got derailed. It was low key and nice, and thank goodness no fireworks. I'm not against fireworks per se, especially when it's organized by the city/town. But in our area they are illegal and still people buy them and fire them up. We got lucky this year because the fog has rolled in every night to the point you can hardly see anything so we haven't had many fireworks. But even those few sporadic ones get the animals all stressed.
QOTD - I would love to go see the Olympics. Doesn't matter where. My dilemma is if I wanna see the winter or summer Olympics. Fun fact: my mom was one of the translators at the Rome Olympic back in 1960. She speaks 7 languages so she was all over the campus translating the interviews.
My meals yesterday:
- Coffee
- Handful of cashews/almonds
- Protein icecream - snickerdoodle
- Skirt stake and corn on the cob
- E: 5 miles wog
Happy start of the week!

Jasmine Paolini is one of Marilyn's favorite players, so we would definitely be watching the Italian tennis team play if we went.

I had to google her, not in the know with most tennis players. But she lives in my neck of the woods. She is originally from Lucca (close to Pisa) but now lives in Tirrenia, which is the seaside part of Pisa where we used to go to the beach.

Marilyn saw her play live in Chicago and had been a fan since then.

Yeah, I think I posted about it a couple of weeks ago. She got accepted at Univ of Chicago for a maters program (MAPH) so she is moving.

No worries.
Yeah, she was very excited and kept telling us it's equivalent to an Ivy. We are very proud.

QOTD- Maybe swimming in the past and any equestrian events but I can't take crowds anymore.
It was a quiet weekend, I did 5 loads of laundry that I hung outside to dry. I still haven't got the hole dug for my retractable clothes line so I did 2 loads on Saturday & 3 on Sunday. It was over 100 so everything dried pretty fast. I put the sheets out too early so it took more time to dry than I hoped but I got it all done. Today is supposed to be 103 and tomorrow 104, we are not used to this kind of heat, as my Mom says the webs between our toes dry out. It's not really going to cool down for a while. Thank goodness the A/C is keeping up, so I don't wilt.
One of my cats gave me a heart attack yesterday I got a notification that there was motion in the backyard. I had forgot to close the cat door and my boy went out at 8:30 too close to dark for me to feel comfortable. I found him up in the tree, coaxed him down and back into the house. The cat door manufacturer still wants me to send them a video of me trying to program the door with my cats. I told them that I am not going to traumatize my cats any further and I can't do it by myself. Honestly I regret buying the stupid thing and all of the time and energy I've had to expend on it.
Have a great day everyone!
