What's on your Tuesday Menu?
the two of you are on my mind every time I'm in the city! This was kind of a quick trip - we stayed at the Drake and spent most of the time in the Loop and then took the L out to O'Hare. Usually I'm down visiting relatives - we're often in Wheaton so super close to Jim - so really no excuse not to get together unless I need to race back home for something. I'll let you guys know next time I'm down there if I'm going to have some time - (or I can make time!!). Now that winter is over, I'll probably be down there every 2-3 months - always on a weekend because my one cousin still works...

Your poor mom. I guess a broken arm is better at that age than a hip but still. I hope she heals quickly.

I hope your mom gets better soon. At that age (how old is your mom?) breaking a bone is hard. Be nice to her about all her finances, you are lucky she has been living on her own for all this time. I hope you and your sister can come up with a schedule where you can take turns and take care of her with a smile on your face.

Good morning all and Happy Tuesday,
I have a lightly scheduled day so I'll start to catch up on the long, long list that has fallen by the wayside.
That bridge collapse is scary. I always get a little nervous crossing a huge bridge. Of the 5 Mississippi crossings I made in January, one was particularly hairy. There was torrential rainfall and winds. I like to skip those situations wherever possible.
QOTD- I need help with motivation for exercising consistently. I usually aim for 3 times a week. If I'm at only one visit by Wednesday, I block out time for two more sessions by Sat Night. There are weeks that I only exercise once or twice. Then, I beat myself up over not being as active as I can with my newfound mobility.
B: 1/2 whole wheat bagel w lox, dannon light and fit creme brulee yogurt.
L: Salad w turkey, hard boiled egg, bacon and dressing - lemon, evoo, pepper. Those misto sprayers are awesome.
D: Steak & veggie.
Dessert: Ice cream sandwich

Good morning gang. Today is food shopping for Easter day, especially all the baking stuff. I'm planning on baking tomorrow while JB is at work, and it's boy's day in the kitchen. I'm hoping I can find everything. It's been so long since she's taken over the baking.
QOTD: There were a lot of good suggestions on that exercise-motivation article. What works for me is based on how competitive I am with myself. I'm really not competitive al all with others. But a key for me is tracking. I love having a fitness tracker-- mine is a Fitbit. And seeing activity over many years is very motivating for me. I track exercise through iFit, on my rower and bike. It's very motivating, to make sure I don't skip days, which turn into weeks. I was finally able to use both machines on February 13, about 2-1/2 months after my second knee replacement. I ignored the pace and distance on each, at first, and just focused on doing both every day. I built up my distances since then, and I haven't missed a day. It helps that I listen to a book while I do it.

I've been watching the news about that Baltimore bridge. I've probably driven over it 15 times, and it's the only bridge that ever gave me the willies. Not because I thought it would fall down. But it's in a very congested area, and it was sort of an afterthought. I'm sure they wanted, or needed, to avoid taking more land on either end of the bridge. But the ramp leading up to it takes a really hard, 90 degree turn, and then climbs at a really steep angle, while turning even more. It always gave me the feeling I'd fall off. I'm hoping they can redesign the whole thing.
