I think a 3rd option may be wise. But a total rebuild of the chimney might be a good way to go since you will know it is mostly new and should be solid.

that's kind of what I'm thinking. Guy #2 said tuckpointing might only last a few years - like five or so - whereas a rebuild will last for decades. I guess it's hard for them to say because although there's obvious mortar missing and damaged at the surface, they can only see so far back between the stones. We're still thinking about getting a 3rd opinion, though...but at this point I'm kind of leaning towards a rebuild because at least we'll know it'll last for a really long time. I'm not sure what DH is thinking. He's doing some reading up on it, and I don't want to sway his opinion one way or the other at this point.

Good Morning Queen JB and Menuers,

WOW JB! So glad things are going your way. Sounds like you're in a well-deserved place in life. I am so happy for you.

I am tired. I can honestly say I have never been this tired before. Between Doctors appointments for Ron, stopping at the nursing facility 2x a day before and after work, keeping the dog walked and happy, and all awhile cooking meals, I am beat. May 18th cannot get her soon enough. We finally found a neurosurgeon who will remove the spine stimulator that is not working for Ron. They better not think they will schedule and screw up my vacation.

QOTD: Yes, but only with the right accompaniment. I'll eat them as a snack by themselves, I love them on cheeseburgers and mixed in with crack chicken. But my favorite is dill pickles wrapped in dried beef with a shmeer of cream cheese. I use dill relish to make my ham salad and I use mayo (I just yucked out Jim and Grim in one sentence.)

Accountability: I did good yesterday, but stress eating has been on the rise. I did do 2 gym sessions this weekend and I am still feeling it.

TSS: 6 years 3-months 8-days 162.4 Lowest (129.4)

MS: L&F Creme brulee Yogurt and berries

CB: Coffee with SF Coffee-mate chocolate caramel creamer

L: Eggwich and snack select

D: garden salad with sirloin steak and Italian dressing and a hardboiled egg.

Exercise: dog walking

Water and Vitamins: On track. I take a Bariatric Advantage Ultra multi w/iron I use bariatric advantage Calcium chews and 500mg of Magnesium. I also use MiraLAX and fiber in my first coffee of the day.

Have a great day my friends.

Brightest Blessings,

Chrissy

Good morning.

All fell in line with my goals yesterday and I nailed 88 minutes of work out. Food choices were good, but dinner turned out to have a lot of sodium and I'm feeling that for sure. No way my wedding ring is going to go on today. I got the few groceries we needed to get through the week and got our taxes completed. Yay.

Moving on to today, I'm going to hit up the treadmill at the gym and then do aqua fit. Home for shower and lunch and then Costco for detergent. Big plans over here.

Qotd. PICKLES ~shudders~ BLECH!

food today

B: zero carb tortilla with egg and smashed avo

L: leftover pesto chicken

D: Cottage pie

Peace everybody.

QJB-When I had my intial bariatric surgery I was interested in the sleeve, but the surgeon said no because I had GERD (the sleeve can make it worse due to the high pressure inside the sleeve). Usually, the RNY cures the GERD symptoms but that wasn't the case for me (sounds like you also). I have been on a PPI for years. I know it is said that PPIs have some long-term effects, but uncontrolled GERD can also cause problems. I wasn't interested in suffering with GERD so I have stayed on PPIs.

Today is work from home. Sometimes I take a break mid-day to get my workout in just because I start to fade (get tired/sleepy) sitting at the computer. I will probably do that today before my meetings start.

Did I tell you that DD broke her right foot? She was at ballet a few weeks ago, she performed some jumping ballet move, came down rolling her ankle (no sprain) but heard a loud pop (that everyone around her also heard. The x-ray showed a complete break on the metatarsal. She is now in a walking boot, not able to drive. So DH and I are on drive duty. It can be inconvenient but overall, it has been ok.

Yesterday I wanted something cool and refreshing to eat. Unfortunately, my current diet does not allow for much in the way of those items. I would have loved a salad with fruit on it but that hasn't set well with my GI tract yet. I am crossing my fingers that as my body adapts to the shortened bowel, I can eat some of those things again. Such a bummer.

Today is weightlifting for my workout, walking on the treadmill 20-30 minutes before.

Eating trying to get 2500-2750 calories in refined carbohydrates (usually 300+ grams/day, protein 100-120 grams, fat less then 93 grams). My weight has dropped again, now between 120-123. Increasing my calories to help prevent the weight loss. I am not too sure it isn't related to the bile acid binder that also binds to fat in the food I ingest.

QOTD: I like dill and sweet pickles. I don't eat those on the regular before surgery. Now I restrict them and only eat pickles if it is in things like tartar sauce. They don't digest well.

Have a terrific tuesday.

In Cleveland We had a strng of delis called Corky and Lennys, when you went in they bought a bowl of their homemade pickles that were delicious, All of their food was good but the pickles were amazing. They closed down at the end of 2023 after 67 years.. Most people here will miss those pickles.

I about DIED when they closed down! We used to go there every time we were in Cleveland (we still have relatives there). I used to always try to stay at the Hilton on the corner of I-271 and Chagrin Blvd so I could hit up Corky and Lenny's while I was in town (and sometimes more than once...). I loved their pastrami sandwiches, too. Everything there - just great. I think I still have some of their rugelach in my freezer...)

you guys -

I've been reading about cottage cheese ice cream lately and finally gave in to the urge to try making it. When I've made low-cal ice creams before (e.g., frozen protein shakes), they're icy and not really ice cream-y. So in addition to the cottage cheese (which I made myself so it wouldn't have salt in it), I added both milk and half & half (about half of each), and both sugar and xylitol (unfortunately, fat and sugar really help with the texture - anything without them is going to be icy...so I have at least of some of both in there ). I also churned it in my ice cream freezer (most people don't - they just put it in a container and stick it in the freezer for a few hours). It turned out fabulous! It's not low-cal (235 kcal/cup), but it has 18 grams of protein in that cup! So I had a cup of it for lunch (I know - awful lunch - but I just HAD to try it). If my future indulgences are for a snack or dessert, I can eat half a cup (well, if that's possible..it's pretty damn good...)
