I can't decide if I unconsciously meant a guy named Jerry, or all Germans.

Good morning, everybody!
24.1 sets up well for me:
21, 21, 21, 21, 15, 15, 15, 15, 9, 9, 9, 9 of one armed 35# DB snatches and and over the dumbbell burpees. 15 minute time cap.
I said yesterday, that I would scale, but this one won't need it. I will try and knock out 9-10 burpees a minute with an aim to seek to keep my heart rate reasonable, and do all of the snatches in unbroken sets. I am signed up for tonight at 7:00. wearing my new team shirt.
This is going to be a fun weekend. After Crossfit Friday and Saturday, we are off to The Price is Right (traveling edition) with Matt. We have our Cliffhanger T-shirts and Alpine hats ready to go. We are going to an old school italian restaurant in Chicago called Mart Anthony's afterwards. I think that Matt will love it
Okay onto vacation.
We flew to San Diego on Tuesday afternoon and checked into the Del Coranado. At which point Marilyn declared that she wasn't leaving and I would have to go to Paso Robles by myself. Lisa and Roger came over and we went across the street to dinner, followed by a fire pit on our room's patio.
Wednesday was a very busy day - Marilyn and Roger played pickleball, Lisa and I hiked the famous neighborhood stairs and later Mount Helix. We went for burgers at lunch, grabbed charcuterie at a cheese shop with a very small sign and then went on our Duffy Boat ride. Dinner followed but Marilyn and I had a early morning Thursday.
Morning came quickly and we were off to our fishing trip. The boat went North to La Jolla and we caught several fish, mostly Whitefish. We went to a lovely dinner in Balboa Park (where the World's Fair was held). I received my annual reminder that I occupy a relatively pedestrian spot in the alternate husband power rankings.
Friday we were off to Paso Robles. A wonderful drive through Torrey Pines, and some other sights and we headed North. Greatly appreciated Roger driving. Saw almond trees in bloom and stopped for lunch. A few travel M&M's and we were at the hotel. Chrissy texted us where she was and with some Googling and interpolation we figured out where she actually was. Rounded up Chrissy and her very nice friend and we headed back to the hotel for appetizers (Tater Tots and Brussel sprouts) and later for more charcuterie.
Saturday brought the gang. Amy and Rob met us at the Inn and we headed to our first winery. Kelly has been in the work world long enough to understand expectations management. Underpromise and overdeliver. All week long she told us how congested she was, to the point that she had us believing that she would look like a 6 year old with a green stream running down her face. Instead she came slaying - perfect hair, perfect outfit, perfectly lovely person.
We had a great lunch at Justin Winery and the 5 of us, plus 4 normies struggled to finish one dessert. A second tasting followed at a a different winery, Kelly returned to the hinterlands, and we went back to the hotel. Marilyn, being smart, took a nap. I recalled that on Friday Marilyn had told Lisa that "if everybody paces themselves we should be fine", to which Lisa reminded us that "As a group, if we could pace ourselves, we likely never would have met."
After dinner we ordered a bottle of wine to go and went into the hot tub to sing. It was initially suggested that we sing country. At this point, I took the opportunity to remind everybody that George Jone's The King Is Gone is the best drinking song ever. The unanimous consensus among the group was that nobody had any idea what I was actually talking about, with an acknowledgment that such befuddlement was not an entirely unusual state of affairs.
I stand by that opinion QJB.
Anyways we sang Fleetwood Mac Rumours in its entirety. Then, in an act of selfless valor, Marilyn went back to the bar and bought us another bottle. We sang some of Steely Dan's Aja.
All good things have to end, and after brunch on Sunday, Chrissy and her friend as well as Amy and Rob went home. The four of us remaining went to two more wonderful tastings and a fantastic French dinner on Sunday. We capped our vacation off with a fire pit nightcap on a hotel rooftop (Lisa has a Sheila-quality picture of the moon). Post-prandial and snuggled in blankets we were cozied around the fire...
At which point a jackass showed up and started berating Lisa about plumbing fixtures. But that's a story for another day.
Have a great weekend guys!
