Help!

I am new here and I got RNY two months ago. I have had a lump in my throat for weeks whether I am eating or not. I am struggling with getting fluids and protein in as my chest hurts so badly. I have so much mucus in my throat, it makes it uncomfortable to do anything. I had an EGD last week and the Dr dilated me some but that didn't help. It's not acid reflux, as it is all day and antacids don't help. I am really struggling right now. Help!!

Your best bet is to go back to the Dr.
The foamies (the mucus you talk about) is "normal" when you eat fast or too much especially at the beginning. But if this is constant whether you eat or not is not normal. The possibility of constriction in the first couple of months is high and you need to make sure the drs check you. Don't be shy and advocate for yourself.
Good luck.

Exactly what Sheila said. Strictures can happen early on. Doctors try to be conservative when they dilate the opening -- you don't want them going too far. Having to dilate the opening two or three times can happen.

Don't suffer. Get it checked out.

I had a stricture at four weeks out and again at eight weeks out. It's not uncommon for them to have to dilate two or three times.

just so you know, they are very rare once you pass the three-month mark, so you will hopefully be home free after they "fix" this one.

I had a similar sensation when my lap band slipped.

As the others have said...keep on your surgeon and try to stay hydrated and get protein in. Go back to the diet of week one if needed, sip, sip, sip.

I had my gallbladder removed and a 4th dilation during. I am now going in Monday for my 5th dilation. We haven't used a stent yet - but it might be time. I'm so ready to feel normal again!!!
