^^Poor Grim already lives this reality!^^

Good Morning everyone! Who has the day off? I know there is a lot of extreme weather across the country today, I hope everyone stays warm and safe! Any fun plans?

I am planning on a very chill day. I've decided I am going to master the art of making French macarons. I made my first batch on Friday and they were about an 85% success but I have a ways to go to perfect them, so I'm planning to make a few more batches today. I am attracted to the idea of these cookies because with royal icing sugar cookies, after I bake them, I still have 6 - 8 hours of work to do on them to make 'em cute. But although macarons are a little more time intensive to bake and have more expensive ingredients--when they are out of the oven, they are done! So my return on investment should be a lot higher if I can master them.

QOTD: Have you or your family held onto any of your baby clothes? Nope. I am sure my mom would have helped on to some of the sweet handmade things that she and our family friend made for me, but they lost everything in their fire. Grim's daughter just moved and she brought us a few boxes of things to hold on to for her that she doesn't have space for right now. It included a tiny little dance outfit that's so small it fit our cat. Proof:

I went to Costco yesterday and I have so much food!

  • protein coffee & egg bites
  • chicken street tacos (insides, no tortilla)
  • black olives, onions & cheese over pulled chicken

I have my sons first pair of shoes. People used to have them dipped in bronze and keep them on display. I never did that.

Greg's mom did that! (had his baby shoes dipped in bronze). They're over in her apt, attached to a photo of him when he was a toddler. Sort of an odd thing - but nothing we can take to a resale shop. Who would want a photo of someone else's infant with a pair of bronze baby shoes? I guess we'll have to bring it home. And probably keep it in a box in the attic.

or keep the picture and donate the shoes/stand. Maybe someone would acquire the shoes for set design for a play? One of my friends kids has done all the set design and costumes for their high school plays and they get everything at the thrift stores

I could see your mom putting bronzed shoes on you as a toddler. You know, like ankle weights.

I am sure they were proudly displayed when he was growing up. They were a status symbol and showed you could afford $25 to bronze shoes in a time when $30 bought groceries for the week. I thought they were beautiful But would not spend that much money on them.

Good morning QJB and menuers,

QOTD- heck no. We have a ton of photo albums she's saved though.

I need to go clean the deck off. There is snow. And more snow. But my pipes are holding up and I have all the soups and stews. Happy camper. I've got an acquaintance from India who shared a toor dal recipe with me, so will make that today, too.

Technically I'm off this week since I was supposed to see my friend. Since she's having her hip replacement in a few weeks, we canceled the trip...but I still want time off. I'll head out to Phoenix to help her out during recovery and will be there for my birthday. Hmm.

Exercise is cleaning snow up. Food is ketoish beef stew, more, and hopefully dal. Cheers, lovely humans!

Good morning, everybody!

Macarons are my daughter's favorite! With the freezing weather, we have some ice damming, and can see water on some of our ceilings/walls. This may be as simple as a fresh coat of paint in the spring or it may be an insurance claim, its gone both ways in the past.

I got an email that the gym where I meet my lifting coach is closing on Thursday. There is a possibility that some of the members may re-start it in a couple of months, but I won't be joining them. Now that our main gym went to 24 hour access, I don't have any need of a second facility. I know my coach will be disappointed, he is retired and spends a good part of his days at that gym. Since I need to be in the office Wednesday, I am going over this morning for my last session before it closes for good.

Which I am kind of dreading because it is below zero outside.

The weekend was pretty quiet. Mostly stayed home and tried to keep warm. We went out Saturday night to watch the game, only to find that the restaurant we went to didn't have Pea**** so it wasn't on. Today our office is closed, but I have a couple of phone calls that I have to be on. So, like a half day of work.

QOTD: I still have one of my Teddy Bears from when I was a kid, but no clothes that I know of. Now that I say that, there are two little sweaters that stick in my mind.

Breakfast: Bagel

Lunch: Fish

Dinner: TBD

Have a great day, all!

We do have Pea**** so were able to watch the game. I don't know who is paying for it though, unless its part of a package?

ETA -I found it, it's included for free in our internet package through 2025.

Oh no, sorry to hear about the ceiling and walls. I hope it's the easier repaint option.
