Hope your back feels better! Make sure your roommate does the shoveling if you are still hurting.
G'afternoon, All!
very late post here. I woke up with the mother-of-all headaches which is probably due to the snow storm we're currently having. It started early this morning and is supposed to go to early tomorrow morning (so..24 hours). They were calling for 5-12" (they weren't sure which way the wind was going, I guess). I have no clue how much is out there now since all I can see is white. OK I just looked out the window this second and saw a couple of dog walkers walking down our sidewalk. I'd say maybe 3 or 4" at the moment, since I can see everything but their feet. So maybe we'll luck out and get the low end of the range.
Headache is still here but almost gone after three rounds of Tylenol. God this stuff is almost useless. The PA at my bariatric clinic once said it's OK to use ibuprofen once in a very great while, if we're in a lot of pain and nothing else is working. But I haven't touched it since my surgery almost nine years ago. I won't now, either. I can live with minimal pain, which is kinda where this headache is at right now.
I decided to apply to take a British history class for the upcoming semester. It covers the time right after the English Civil War (1688) to the present. I took the first half of the course (British History TO 1688) about 35 years ago, and always intended to take the second half but never did. Different prof now (the former one retired a few years ago), but this current one also taught the course on WW1 that I took last semester, and he's pretty good. Plus I love British history, so this should be good.
we had a mandatory day off from going to MIL's apt since no way were we going out in this mess unless it was absolutely critical. I feel like I've done nothing today - although I probably needed that. We've been crazy busy for days. I did start making bread this morning (rosemary einkorn). It's on its first proof. Will do the second proof in the fridge overnight and then bake it in the morning. The einkorn flour isn't as unruly as I've heard people claim, but then I've worked with some pretty unruly flours before (for those who don't know, einkorn is an ancient grain - it's the granddaddy of today's wheat). I don't think I've ever tasted einkorn, so this should be interesting.
QOTD: In a way, yes. I wouldn't order anything with an outrageous amount of calories (like 99% of the Cheesecake Factory menu - WTF do they do with their food over there? Shoot it all up with massive amounts of olive oil??), but I don't always go for the lowest, either. It has to be something I'm gonna like. I almost always stick with things that feature protein and vegetables, are not fried or breaded, don't feature things like heavy cream sauces or lots of cheese (a little cheese is OK). So in other words, I would naturally go for things that are probably on the lower end of the restaurant's calorie range, even if the calories weren't listed on the menu. Although I don't go out to eat all that often - maybe a couple times a month - so it's probably not a huge deal if I splurged a little. But then I've been spurging enough at home lately that I really can't afford to splurge at a restaurant until I get this back under control.

have a great rest of your day!
