Surprised that this isn't an orange cat....
Good mornin y'all!
I've been up since 10:16. I went to bed at 8 something. It's going to be a long day. I got half of a bracelet done so there's that, Not sure what we'll do today. I am hoping that it'll be a stay at home day. We'll need to get the outside decorations put up as we did the inside of the house yesterday...tree and all. The house is back to normal-i****'s supposed to be in the 60's today and low 40's tomorrow. I also think I have a stomach bug or something. It may just be the insulin and Tylenol 4's. My system is completely bananas anymore.
My mom is going to see if my brothers and the entire family wants to come over tomorrow. We found hams on sale at Walmart the other day and man was it good...nice and smoky with a salted caramel glaze. We're having enchiladas and tacos tomorrow though as they, save my nephew, don't like ham.
QOTD: do y'all have any regional food traditions either where you grew up or live now for new years? Things that are supposed to bring you good luck?
Black eyed peas here for good luck. It's also pretty traditional to have ham here for new years. We are making a dip/salsa type thing called Texas caviar. It has a can of black eyed peas in it so hopefully it'll bring me luck...LOL
Breakfast was eggs, cheese, coffee x2 and unfortunately a cookie.
lunch will likely be ham
dinner? Who knows.

Here we have pork and sauerkraut or kielbasa and sauerkraut. I made mine yesterday in the Instant Pot. Three pork chops, a pound of sauerkraut, onion, and a cup of apple juice. 38 minutes on high pressure. The pork is very tender and the sauerkraut is delicious. Will do me for three or four meals.

Mmm, kielbasa. There's a polish restaurant here that makes there own and they sell it by the pound, I should get some the next time I'm in that area

Good morning ~ It's raining here, which is extra nice since I don't have to drive to work in this while dark! I love hearing the rain hit the metal roof on the patio, it's relaxing. This morning I have a return to Kohls and a Costco run. I really wish they opened earlier than 9:30 for this early girl. Hell, I'd be there right now if I could. Otherwise - it'll be a nesting day. We're packing up Christmas and hauling away the mountain of cardboard from the garage. This afternoon, we'll get a nice fire going and watch Barbie w/a pot of chili on the stove. Sounds like a good day to me. Of course it all ends with football, but that is okay by me, too.
QOTD - No New Year's food traditions here or where I grew up that I can remember. Drinking too much, football and the obligatory resolutions - absolutely.
Accountability - add 2 russell stovers candies, 188.1 today
b- coffee x 2, SD toast, cream cheese, tomato
l - eggbeater breakfast burrito
d - chili w/cheese and onions
s- beef jerky

I am the same, I rarely make it to Costco because I am usually done shopping long before they open!

Good morning, All,
Not sure what's on the menu today but been wanting breakfast foods, which works for lunch and dinner! ? Ah, the mighty power of protein in eggs and bacon.
I've been on a cleaning frenzy and my goal today is to knock it out by end of day -??Hope everyone has a great day and best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
Good morning! Had a good day with the grands yesterday and a wonderful dinner out. I did great on food. And that's all I'm saying. We've got nothing today except I have to go to the market and find something to take to a open house party tomorrow followed by a small drinks and dessert party, so I need two things. A savory app to share, and then a sweet to share. I'm not feeling any of it yet. Cold is lingering. It's not bad at all, just tiring. I'll survive without a doubt.
QoTD: None. Though as an adult, I've pretty much adopted the East Coast ball drop as my midnight. Oh wait, I do usually set an alarm and wake up at the stroke of midnight to wish my oldest a happy birthday. The whole family does it and we race to see who gets the kid and who gets the voice mail. Given that he hates to actually answer a phone, it's his birthday eve and every place he's at is a party AND it's his last night of adult beverages for a month, it's a miracle if he answers any of us. He's been doing dry January long before it was a thing. Like 15 years or more. And he is religious about it. Doesn't cheat as much as a drop. Hard commitment for someone who's job is selling spirits and is in a bar or 7 nearly everyday of his life.
I don't know about food today. Maybe I'll find some inspiration at the grocery store.
Peace Everybody.

Good morning everyone and happy Saturday! I have finished all my workouts for 2023, unless I do a pilates session tomorrow. I really wanted tomorrow as a rest day but also very goal oriented so I did 10.4 miles between the rower and the elliptical to end with 900 miles for the year, with 680 of those on the rower. My 2023 was 50 miles a month/600 miles a year on the rower so yay me.
I didn't find any pretzel bites at the store yesterday so I need to run to a different store today and see if they have them, I did pick up pretzel rods, GL pretzels, crudite, rice crackers and apples so if I don't find the pretzel bites I'm still set. Found a GF beer to use in the beer cheese too so very excited about that, everyone can enjoy it now! I also had a great chat with my sister this morning, an hour of coffee talk is good for the soul. The party for my niece last night was great, got to spend some time with both my step sisters too which was nice. Also quite entertaining all the early 20 somethings lining up to try the celebratory Dom Perignon and all the adults laughing when they were like "is this supposed to be something people like?".
QOTD - none here but when I lived in Miami I learned about the 12 grapes at midnight, you eat one at each of the 12 chimes and reflect on something for each month with each grape, but it's a lot of pressure because if you don't get all the grapes eaten and thing good thoughts, you get back luck. I don't participate in that, lol. I do subscribe to doing things on January 1 that you want to continue to do in the new year....so eat good things, talk to people you love, get some fresh air, get some exercise...I also try not to do any chores but somehow I do continue to do those each year, lol.
Happy Saturday everyone!!
