What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu?

Good morning, everybody:

Sheila - I checked and we are going to Harvest Caye, which appears to be Gilligan's Island. I'm sure we will have fun fishing and swimming, but won't really see much of Belize. Also, I don't know if I mentioned this but we are meeting DD's boyfriends parents for the first time, as they are going to be on the cruise.

I haven't been to any of them, and have only briefly glanced at the menus, but La Scarola sounds good to me. Let me know what you think if you have been to any (I am pretty sure that you have been to Beoufhaus).

OK, i told you guys that I was going to Christkindl Market on Black Friday, but I didn't tell you that it was absolutely mobbed. So the goal is to go back at lunch today. In fact, it is my main goal of the day. I have two objectives mind: first get things for Marilyn's stocking (which should involve ample amounts of Toblerone) and second have lunch. I am thinking pierogis with sour cream and bacon and a beer.

The rest of the weekend will be the race, watching the college football conference championships - Julia i'll be watching with you tonight, Crossfit, tree decorating, and present wrapping. Normally we are a real tree family, but with our cruise we are just putting up our kids' little petroleum based trees this year.

I will be running from 8:30 to 9:15 tomorrow morning.

Breakfast: Egg sandwhich

Lunch: Pierogi (Potato flavored)

Dinner: Chicken

That's a big step meeting her bf's parental units. If you don't like them, will you tell your daughter on the cruise?

Restos- I have been to La Scarola and Boeufhaus. I would lean towards La Scarola for the ladies. Their egg Parm is a really good, solid version and I am not a huge eggplant fan.

I loved Boeufhaus but it's not a classic steakhouse experience. It's set up like a long bar with 2 and 4 tops against the wall across from the bar. Service, steaks, sides are all up there with best Chicago steakhouses I've visited.

Union sushi - I haven't eaten there but I have eaten at Sushi Mike's previous restaurant, Tanoshii(?). He was brilliant at crafting premium omakase and remembering everyone. He would make sure that no future visits repeated previous omakase.

Forbidden Root - I don't know anything about the food but the space is gorgeous from the previous iteration, Michelin starred Band of Bohemia brewery.

If you're looking for a truly unique culinary experience, Schwa just opened reservations for January. Have you been here or El Ideas?

Now they all sound good! I have input, but I am not the decision maker. I will share your comments though.

Schwa has been on my list for a long time, maybe in 2024.

Two things:

1) maybe the engagement proposal you were hoping for will happen on this cruise.
2) if you can find the Toblerone with orange and ginger, it's soooo good. We found it at the airport in Frankfurt and nibbled on it the whole time in Italy.

I just looked at all those menus (of course!) since we're in or near Chicago a few times a year. My choice would be La Scarola, but then, I'm not the one making the decision!
