Good Morning! I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving Day. Mine was lovely. It was a small crew but we had a huge feast, lots of good convos and laughs. I have a new level of gratitude for all that Grim usually does to clean up afterwards. He usually has the kitchen looking like nothing even happened within a few hours of everyone leaving. I cleaned for hours, but I just couldn't make myself unload and reload the dishwasher last night, so I have lots more to do today.

Unfortunately, by the time I went to bed, I had a wicked sore throat. I thought maybe I was just tired, but it feels worse this morning. I hope to have a completely nothing-day to just sit on my butt and look at Black Friday sales that I shouldn't allow myself to be tempted by.

Thanks to Teenie for texting me Dolly's half-time show! I didn't see it until this morning and didn't want to text her back too early and risk waking her up! Bu****ching that will also happen on this sit-your-ass-down day :)

QOTD: Have you ever braved the stores for a midnight Black Friday door-buster type of event? My mom and I went to one once, when iPads were relatively new and there was an amazing sale. We were in line outside of a Target for hours in the middle of he night. It could have been awful because everyone was obviously cold and tired, but the store made it a fun event. They had music blaring and handed out cups of cocoa and granola bars, and they also really controlled the space inside the store so we could all get in and out easily. I am not clamoring to go back to one of those sales, but I was happy that it was not chaos.

Accountability: I didn't manage more than a few bites of anything for dinner, because the first bite I took was the mac & cheese and that just closed up the pouch for business for the next 3 hours. But fear not--I managed to get in a million calories with little licks and bites of everything before and after the meal, too. I already grabbed a handful of cheez-its while I was waiting for my coffee to brew this morning, so god help me to stay on track for the rest of the day.

Good mornin y'all!

Yesterday was pretty decent! I ended up doing the majority of it but it was of my own doing so I'm not complaining. However I am paying the price in the pain department. I had a little bit of everything but not to much of any one thing...except maybe my trifle...lol. My brother and his family stayed until 6:30 so that is the only thing that got on my nerves. The turkey was perfect. The stuffing is never my favorite as I like more stuff in mine but it was ok. I had a small piece of the chocolate pie and one bite of pumpkin pie and to much trifle.

We need to run to the grocery store this morning for some bread for my mom and I might get me some cold brew coffee. We have a chance for ice tomorrow and super chilly temps. So we'll be staying home this weekend.

QOTD: only twice and most likely NEVER again! I like cyber Monday much better if I have money.

B: ham, 1/3 cup mashed potatoes and a small bit of gravy

L: leftovers

D: leftovers

the begging of a belt!

Good Friday morning QJB and menuers!

Yay for a quiet week, here. Yesterday was a good day with family and friends. We ate all the things and played games together. My hands are so dry and stiff from washing them a hundred or so times yesterday during all the food prep. I got up at four to make sure I could be cleared out of the kitchen for The Making Of The Stuffing...which didn't happen. He wanted to save it for Xmas. Sad panda. We had tons of good food, though. And thankfully for me, zero sports.

QOTD- Sure. I also remember when today was a free for all and people would fight you for the $1 bath towel. Just not that important. I do see some Bose earbuds online, though...I put them in my cart to marinate on.

Today is also quiet. More family time and work. I'll leave tomorrow night to try and skip what's undoubtedly going to be heinous holiday traffic. Good times.

Menu today is ham, broccoli and egg white puffs, leftover ham, rest of the lunch meat...and finger foods.

Pics are my calorie bomb from yesterday of pumpkin gingerbread with glazed pecan praline drizzle and a pan of puff pastry, Brie, glazed pecans and fig preserve finger food I was making at 0 dark thirty. Cheers!

Good morning and happy Friday!
out thanksgiving was wonderful and I hit that perfect balance of felt like I was able to enjoy everything but didn't over eat anything, not even the holiday potatoes. I might see if I can have a bit of potato and ham before I head home today. I also committed to running by Home Depot and buying something so I can do a customer service survey for middle nephews GF. She was cute, said she never looked forward to the holidays before because of family drama and my sis and I laughed because we took over thanksgiving 20+ years because we were tired of the family drama.

qotd - never. The closest I've come is we did go out mid day on Black Friday once when oldest nephew wanted a fancy TV he'd saved for all year. That was probably 18 years ago or more. I usually avoid all stores from thanksgiving until after new years if I can.

Exercise today will be schlepping my stuff through the airports and home!

menu

coffee plus half and half x3

Safe travels! You're right! So much Thanksgiving food is beige. Puff pastry, baked cheese, potatoes, gravy. Geez! Was just pondering that yesterday. Love the picture.
