What's on your Wednesday Menu?
My sister had an older oven and it had a lever you had to slide to "close" the oven to come up to temp. Someone* didn't do that one year and was two hours into making the turkey before we realized...snacks saved the day when dinner was two hours late!! Fortunately the family that attends thanksgiving is a laugh at the chaos group and it's now a funny not traumatic story

My mother did not serve until everyone was there. Some years that meant waiting for hours and hours after the turkey was cooked. And there were no snacks. I remember one year everything was cooked at 2:00 and my brother did not arrive until 6:00. We just sat and waited and watched football. We were all young and did not argue with my mom.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
My family waited for my uncle for years. He was an obsessed golfer and we had to wait till he was done golfing. Such a diehard they painted balls black so they could play in the snow. My father finally put his foot down and said let him eat the leftovers.
