I seem to do well with planned things, but the unknown is what derails me. This time of the year is the hardest by far!

Me too. If I can eat the same things, same times, every day, losing is easier. Mix in holidays, eating out, entertaining, etc, it gets much harder.

Mornin' All!

dentist appt this morning, and cooking after that (gravy and cranberry sauce today). This is a new dentist. My mother goes there and really likes the place, so fingers crossed. My former dentist left his practice (moved to another town), and my hygienist retired, and it's been like musical chairs over there for months. Plus I was going to that office because it was only a couple of blocks from campus, so I used to be able to go there any time of day when I was still working. But now that I'm retired, that's not necessarily an advantage. This new place is closer to my house, and supposedly the dentist is great. So--we'll see.

QOTD: ugh. Neither one. I've never been wild about crowds, and now with these mass shootings, I'm even MORE Leary of them. Plus neither parades nor football games are very interesting to me. I guess if I could opt to sit in a coffee place that was above street level so I could watch the parade from there, I'd pick that.

Greek yogurt or skyr with fruit

coffee with half & half

crumpet with butter and jam (I've been making these every day because I have so much sourdough discard!! But after I bake a loaf of bread for Thanksgiving, the sourdough starter is going back in the fridge, so I won't have this "problem" (not that I don't enjoy eating crumpets!!) (I know I can always throw the discard out, but that seems super wasteful to me...especially since we really love the crumpets!)

salad with shredded turkey breast

pumpkin yogurt

braised spinach

more turkey (or rotisserie chicken breast - need to get rid of that, too!)

have a great day, everyone!

Bake crumpets and take them to a local shelter or home for the elderly. Throw in some butter and jam and people will think a little angel visited them! No waste, fix your baking jonesing and make people happy. Sounds like a great day to me.

Hope your appointment goes well. Crumpets are delicious. There used to be a tea house I'd visit occasionally that made crumpets. So sad when they closed.

G'morning all!

QJB - wow, so many cookies, so little time. I can't wait for you to have some down time so your poor knee can rest.

I forgot to share that at my last bariatric appt, about 10 days ago, she finally referred me for iron infusion. My iron levels have tanked, not just ferretin. It got approved yesterday and my first infusion is on 12/14. I'm supposed to go in for three sessions. Yeek!

I did my beach walk yesterday and I gotta say it wasn't easy. I don't know if it's because I'm 2 weeks out of surgery, or because I haven't worked out in 2 weeks but something that I thought should be a piece of cake was exhausting. There is also the fact that DD is home and I am trying to do everything for her, so my shoulder was not a happy camper. Tonight DS arrives and with everybody home, including DH who knows my level of pain, it should be easier.

QOD - def the parade. I actually love NY in the winter. Once we did the new year's ball drop, it was freezing but worth the memory. I don't understand football rules and have never watched a complete game.

My meals yesterday:

  • Coffee
  • Protein smoothie
  • Epic chicken, unexpected cheddar w/cranberry spread + cranberry pumpkin crisps
  • Meatloaf
  • E: 4 miles beach walk

Happy Taco Tuesday!
