What's on your Monday Menu?

Good morning and happy Monday! Hope everyone had a nice weekend :) Mine was good but very busy. I am about to start baking--hopefully a full day of it, and with any luck I will knock out the last of the Christmas class cookies before Thanksgiving.

QOTD: Have you started your holiday shopping yet? I have done next to nothing. I am usually done shopping and even wrapping by now, but this year I keep hoping I might get a job before the holiday so that I won't feel guilty spending. Otherwise, everyone is getting cookies, lol.

Accountability: I need someone to shake me and remind me that I am a bypass patient and I can't eat whatever I want.

I found some Chocolate Fairlife Protein Shakes at Costco last week and I think I am going to try to have a detox day and stick to those today. If I am totally starving, I will have an egg white bite, but no junk today.

  • Fairlife Shake (x3)

Same, girl, same! I need someone to remind me of that and slap food out of my hands!

I can't do all liquids but I certainly eat less when I prioritize protein.

I've been awake for way too many hours. I have read the internet and made some lists. I head to Philadelphia this afternoon.

QOTD: I'm in the exact same boat! I normally have presents wrapped and this year I just don't even have presents. The kids are at the age where they want money, and I refuse to buy "stuff" that will end up in a landfill so we may do a trip and that experience will be the present. And then of course everyone will get socks and pajamas as always!

Today's menu is a little unplanned but I do have leftover Lebanese Taverna chicken and sauces. That's one meal. The other may be cottage cheese and then dinner we will likely order in. I can make good choices today!

Have an awesome Monday!

Good morning Monday menuers!

Sounds like good progress was made. Sounds like your menu has been a challenge. I'm sorry.

It's Thanksgiving week. Wow. I'm working today and have been up for over an hour. It's a reminder though that being in someone else's house means altered routines. Once I get up, the dogs are on and I don't want to bother people. I am working though, so I'll be at it soon. Hopefully a slow week where I can get a ton done. Somehow I have literally one meeting this week, and it's tomorrow.

Accountability- I've had the equivalent of a beer, half a shot of peach Crown, and a glass of fruity wine since I got here on Saturday. That's it for me.

QOTD- Not applicable. I buy and give gifts as I see them and other than mailing fudge if requested and care packages whenever, it's not a thing.

Today is dog walking, tea x5 or so, protein bars, a sushi roll, ever roast chicken, a bit of the pasta I made last night and a protein main. They tend to eat once a day right now, which I can't do and get what my body needs.

Oh, I saw Top Gun Maverick. Good movie. Cheers!

I watched some older movies on prime this weekend myself. Finally saw 80 for Brady. Not a Brady fan but I did like the Movie. I watched I can only Imagine. Very good about a Christian song writer. The cast was very good. It stars Dennis Quad, Amy Grant, and Trace Adkins to name a few. I also watched Air with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. It was ok but I kept nodding off.

Morning all. Busy day yesterday. I feel like a nap already. This will be a busy week, too. But at least I don't have eleventy-billion cookies to bake. I'm pretty much just in charge of the turkey this year. For those of you with frozen birds, they should already be thawing slowly in the fridge. Let's be safe out there.

QOTD: I'm no longer a big holiday shopper. I shop for JB and my daughter, but I no longer have young ones in the family to shop for. I'll buy or make gifts for people during the year, as inspiration strikes. But not just because it's Christmas.

Last night we were discussing the advice from the food safety people to cook your turkey from frozen because it's safer and only adds about 50% more time. Thoughts?

I've never seen such a discussion on cooking turkeys. I'll have to look into it. I've seen the debate on cooking steaks from frozen though. And I always cook burgers from frozen. But a turkey? Hmm.

I think sometime in the next week will be my attempt at deep-frying bacon.

Not a fan of Deep-Fried Bacon. Most All-inclusive Resorts do it because it is quicker, but the oven baked bacon is my favorite.

Interesting, I will have to read up on this...I always start the thaw process one day earlier than recommended and I swear is never fully thawed on Thanksgiving morning.
