Mornin' All!

well I'm glad I went biking yesterday (23 miles!) because it's going to be really windy today. But still, sunny and warm (high of 64) - so I'll get some walking in.

I decided to bake a loaf of sourdough bread with my new starter even though it's a couple days early (it's only been five days). The stuff was super active, so I figured it was probably OK to give it a shot. The bread dough was rising much faster than expected last night, so I stuck it in the fridge to slow it down, because I didn't particularly want to stay up until 1:00 AM waiting for it to bake. I woke up at 3:30 AM because our bedroom cat wanted out of the room, so I went down to the basement to check the dough (we have a fridge down there). Cripes! It had finished its doubling - so I took it out and brought it upstairs for its second proofing. It just came out of the oven - looks very nice! (photo below)

class today at 11:00, then a couple of grocery store runs because I have to make something for an event tomorrow and two events on Saturday. Suffice it to say, I'll be swamped tomorrow!

QOTD: I really don't follow country music at all, but I appreciate Dolly's politics and activism. I know three of her songs - the two everyone has mentioned (Jolene and 9-to-5), and I remembered Harper Valley PTA when I saw it on Jim's post. I may recognize more if I hear them (re: country music - I've heard the new version of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" and I really like it (liked the original version, too). I'm glad he's singing it - for a number of reasons)

coffee with half & half

rye crumpet with butter and marmalade

vanilla yogurt with raspberries

last of the dinner from the past two nights (chicken/chickpea curry with vegetables)

Ratio

kiwi

braised spinach

have a great day, everyone!!

(this looks a little skewed, but only because it's on top of my stove, so I couldn't take a picture of it from the top down - so this is sort of at an angle)

Smell of freshly baked bread is the best smell, in my opinion.

thanks! Just tried a piece - it's great! I'll leave most of the rest for DH - but I had to at least taste it!

QOTD- I will always love you, that one always gets to me. There are a few others but I can't think of them.

Another night of not so great sleep. I finally just took another sleeping pill. I know I shouldn't but I was desperate. Then my cats managed to use my face to take off of the bed. Something startled them or the boy was just being a boy but next thing I know my chin is bleeding profusely and they got the side of my face and ear. They knocked over the rocking chair so I don't know what was up.

This week has flown by. For some reason I was thinking it was only Wednesday.

I got a short walk in on Tuesday in the Nature Park, it did my soul good. I love the trees and quiet, I need to get there more.

The emergency vet notified my vet about Sissy so I got another lovely condolence card. Of course it makes me cry. Our animals lives are so fleeting. And we love them so dearly.

I need to get back to work. Have a great day everyone!

About 3:00 AM cats get the zoomies. They turn into crazy animals that fly around the house, knocking things over and doing things like using your face as a launchpad. Part of the fun of kitties.

Good morning QJB and menuers,

Well, car is on the way to the shop. It started acting the fool earlier this week. I had an appointment for tomorrow morning to check it out but we didn't make it that far. It's probably the battery and I'm hoping for the little one versus the big one. Given the car is almost 12 years old with both originals, I'd say it's done well. Hoping for a fix (and a ride!) before tomorrow. I'd planned to head to Georgia after work tomorrow night.

QOTD- I loved her in Steel Magnolias. She didn't sing there, though. Sing them for me and I'll nod or shake my head! I don't remember song names well. Much respect for her and what she's accomplished in her life given where she came from.

Menu today is Greek yogurt, toast with havarti cheese, more yogurt, some of that chicken and black bean bake thing I made that I'm not feeling.

Meetings resuming and continuing for the rest of the day. Cheers!
