Definitely give yourself grace, you need the protein for healing so that's a smart call. Try not to get anxious about the weight from the surgery until both legs are the same size!! Easier said than done, I know.

I understand your worries. You're doing it right and know it's just temporary as you heal.

I'd take the pain med as prescribed just for ****s and giggles. Good luck on the diet restructure. You be back in a routine in no time.

I completely relate. I left the hospital 22lbs heavier. I'm still swollen but have shed 12lbs. Bad food habits have snuck back in. I was encouraged to eat, eat, eat in the hospital since I couldn't move my bowels. Now, it's difficult trying to right the ship. My right leg is still partially swollen 3 weeks later. I was put on something for the swelling yesterday. I also won a fungus in the hospital so got prescriptions for that too. Great fun.

HW: 371 SW(8/9/21): 324 CW: 215. 0 lbs til goal of skin reduction surgery. I'm still looking for a new plastic surgeon.

weight is probably due to excess fluids - from the IV or the healing. Also, good to increase proteins temporarily - it takes your body a lot of energy to heal after a surgery. In fact, many people notice a slight metabolism boost for the first three or four weeks after a major surgery

Glad you're getting the extra protein for healing, especially heading into the second surgery. You're on the right path. My mother's doctor told her it could take up to a year for her knee to normalize. She didn't have a replacement but she did have surgery and that poor knee is still larger seven months later. It's improving, though!

They said I could still have swelling a year later. I was hoping to get rid of it by bathing suit season.

G'morning all!

Quick drive by post, simply because I'm up and not doing much else. Shoulder surgery went well on Tuesday. On Wednesday I actually thought I must be superwoman because there was minimal pain and I was able to even do some work. Thursday I realized I am no superwoman and am at he mercy of the pain; every 4 hr medication and constant icing. When I'm towards the end of 4 hours window I'm in tears and waiting for my fix...yeah, not fun. By the way my fix is Tylenol.

QOD - hot cocoa, oversized scarves, fluffy blankets, and a toss between pumpkin spice and smores.

My meals have been spare and all over the place, mostly soups with quest chips.

This pic was when I thought I am superwoman. DH said I look like football players with shoulder pads.

Happy Friyay!
