What's on your Tuesday Menu?
Buongiorno from Italy.
It's about 2:00 pm here and kinda siesta time so I got online to see what's up with y'all.
It's been a whirlwind since we landed Sat afternoon. My niece's 1st bday was eye opening and fun. Let's say it was like a mini wedding from the amount of decorations, guests and presents. That kid never cried or fussed, and that alone amazed me. She was passed along from one person to another and was photographed 1,000 times, no exaggeration. And as if the bday party wasn't enough the day after mom, dad and baby left for a 3 days trip to Disneyland in Paris. At least they'll have the pictures to show her how she was spoiled once she grows up, because I don't think she would remember anything.
I am due for another implant, after a visit with my brother. I was hoping it would be something simpler but nope, go big or go home.
I am trying my best to stick to a no carb plan but the amount of sweets and chocolate is killing me. This week is the county fair and no matter where you go in town there is fair food. DD & I were walking by one concession and I was just looking until the person behind the counter offered us a sample. She knew her customers because I bought three different cantuccini (what they call biscotti in US): apricots, blueberries and chocolate. Then she made us taste something else and that's when I put my foot down and said maybe another day. The cantuccini would be perfect to dunk with afternoon coffee after the siesta. Can't wait.
QOD - not at all. Could not care less who loses or wins unless it's the World Cup.
My meals are all over the place. Today for lunch I had Turkish kebab and dinner should be some sort of fish.
For exercise I try and do my 10K every other day. Rain is coming tomorrow through all next week, that's when I'll use my bands.
Happy taco Tue!

How is anyone in Italy skinny?

I used to wonder why I never saw obese people overseas. They ate wonderful foods but they walked when Americas would use a car. They also are more nicely dressed and you don't see the weird outfits and I'll fitting clothes over there like you can see everyday here at Walmart.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Walking, especially in the little towns you rarely use the car. We walk everywhere. I average 20,000 steps a day.

Mornin' All!
It's going to be sunny, not windy, and in the low 60s this afternoon, so I'm going biking! Good biking days are going to be few and far between from now until winter, so I need to go when I can! I've also been doing a lot of walking lately because it's good for my osteoporosis (which biking and water aerobics, while good exercises overall, unfortunately are NOT). I'm also hoping to get together with my sister, who's in town for the week (she's staying in a guest suite at my mother's retirement complex - and I'm sure she's more than ready to do something besides being with my mother, whom both of us can take for only a couple of hours at a pop). Otherwise, the usual getting caught up with stuff.
QOTD: The only team I follow is my university's women's hockey team...and I'm mostly into it only when I'm attending a game. It's disappointing when they lose, but my disappointment only lasts for like five minutes.
coffee with half & half
protein pumpkin pancakes topped with plain skyr and SF cranberry/apple compote
chocolate "mousse" (made with cottage cheese) topped with raspberries
salad
Ratio yogurt
Danish bread with butter and jam
have a great day, everyone!!
Good morning, everybody!
I hit myself in the forehead with the barbell last night. It was at the begining of the workout, so i wasn't even tired, just misjudged it. Was doing thrusters and squatted down, stood, pressed up and then when I brought the barbell back to front rack position, I just missed the mark. It wasn't weighted, just the 45 pound bar.
It kind of did a double doink. Hit first on the top of my forehead, bounced and then hit again just above my right eye. I kept working but when I put my fingers to my forehead they were bloody. Right now, the top cut is clotted and the lower one has a grubby, blood stained bandage on it. I have an endocrinologist appointment this morning, and I'm sure that she will not be impressed.
Being fair, the skin on my forehead is already tight and sun damaged, so not an ideal place to get a couple of scrapes.
Im jelly of all my OH friends who are vacationing in warm places right now. I was under blankets (with my grubby head bandage last night just to watch TV)
QOTD: The best videos about this seem to be from Pittsburgh. People throwing their TV's out the window and other craziness. I'm not at that level, but i will be affected for a day or so if my team loses. Mainly, I will be less likely to read about the team for a few days, until the next game.
Breakfast: Fasting blood work
Lunch: Tortellini
Dinner: sausage
Have a great day, all!

If I ever need to shave my head, there are probably 100 scars up there. I've bloodied it repeatedly over the years when wracking it on low-hanging objects.
