What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu?
on 10/13/23 2:55 am
Good Morning! It's Friday the 13th! And wham, just like that this week is over? I didn't get nearly enough done. But yesterday's day out with dad was great. We went to see a John Singer Sargent exhibit focused on the clothing and fashion in his paintings and there were a lot of the actual amazing gowns there next to the paintings. Very cool. Then we went out to a good lunch and then walked over to the Paris Patisserie. OMG. See pics below of dad enjoying his cream filled croissant cube. It was literally in the top 5 things I have ever eaten.
No plans this weekend except for a ton of baking and lot of job applications.
Happy surgery day to Matt & safe travels to Sheila!

QOTD: What art do you have hanging in the house? We have some nice framed abstract prints, some framed sketches from the Winnie the Pooh exhibit, and of course a watercolor painting of a Dancing Hot Dog that I made for Grim when we were first dating. I couldn't believe he framed it and hung it, but it lives at the top of the stairs, haha.
Accountability: Good god. I ate a months worth of calories in a day but damnnnnnnn it was all so very good. I have the 2nd half of my cube to finish and even though I know I shouldn't have it, I know I will.
- Protein Coffee + lots of extra coffee - 60 cals
- The rest of the cube - 1,000,000,000 cals
- Egg White Egg Bite - 150 cals
- Leftover Fish Taco - 150 cals
- Veggie Burger - 130 cals

Morning gang. I don't have anywhere to go today, no appointments, nuthin'. Yay! The Museum of Fine Arts was great. We really need to go more often.
The croissant cube was OK. I wasn't as big a fan as JB. There's still nothing like a regular croissant fresh out of the oven.

I thought that was butter slathered on and I drooled, now that I know that it's cream, eh.
Good luck to Matt today in surgery and safe travels, Sheila! Your espresso awaits!
QOTD: pic of dancing hot dog or it didn't happen. I have a ton of art in my house. Some of my own amateur abstract pieces on canvas. But mostly we have sketches and street art from all over the world like Spain, Turkey, Egypt, Czech Republic, Ecuador, etc. I have had them framed through the years and the framing is generally 10x the cost of the art!
I am worried that my ulcer is back or acting up. My stomach started to feel weird yesterday and by last night I was laying in bed thinking, is this weird or do I have another perforation in my stomach and this is a slow leak? I was very paranoid. Needless to say, I was grateful to wake up alive today! I'll be eating a very bland and high protein, high veggie diet while I try to troubleshoot. It's terrifying after what I went through with being hospitalized and in the ICU in February.
B: ugh I don't know if I can skip my iced coffee. We shall see. But then cottage cheese. Sans EBTB seasoning with jalapeño, heartbreak over here but not sure seeds or spice are a good choice!
L: a can of tuna
d: I have a package of ground turkey to cook up but normally I'd have it with tomato sauce (too acidic) or taco seasoning (too spicy) Any ideas?
I got my labs back and B and D and iron are low. Time to adjust my vitamin regime! It's so hard to stay on top of but we really must.

Oh no, feel better and check in to tell us you are ok!
How about adding the ground turkey to broth and veggies for a soup?

Please get checked out. Ulcers are no joke. Are you on omeprazole or carafate currently? The acid is super bad for ulcers.
I'm not sure what iron you take, but this is the best, easiest to take, and most gentle on your stomach. My ferritin is actually a little over the top of the range. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0085OTVJO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b _search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
As for the ground turkey, do you have any neighborhood dogs you're fond of? Maybe bears wandering about?
Speaking of bears, there's one wandering my daughter's neighborhood that is now a Facebook celebrity. It's apparently eating pumpkins off people's front steps.

Thank you! I just ordered that iron. And tums. They arrive today! I take Protonix once per day. It's a prescription PPI. Perhaps an endoscopy is in my future just to be sure. Naturally I'm traveling next week but I'll call and make an appt for a week from now.
Haha on the ground turkey. I'm just not a beef person!
Word on the street says that ham is pretty good. I might try it myself.
