What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu?

Payroll is an under-appreciated department. People care when they don't get paid, though. Otherwise, they just cause problems for the payroll people who make the magic happen.

Mornin' All!
well they're putting the finishing touches on the new driveway this morning (dividing it into sections with some kind of saw) - not sure what this does - maybe helps keep it from cracking?) Regardless, it looked great yesterday and will probably still look great with the divisions. Big drop in temps overnight - from 80s down to 50s. That's OK - I was getting a little tired of the heat, and I actually love the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Too bad we seem to have two weeks of that range in the fall and again in the spring. Otherwise, it's super hot or super cold. Ah the Upper Midwest...
well I lost one uncle about three weeks ago, and we got word last night that my last remaining uncle has about a week to live. That whole generation is about wiped out - except for my mom and the last remaining uncle's wife. Everyone on my dad's side from that generation is gone. And no more blood-related aunts and uncles. My mother is really upset - not sure if it's more because he's her brother, or if she, too, realizes she's soon to be the last one in her birth family alive. Or both. I'm sure it's upsetting. I really wish I could have seen the aforementioned uncle (the one who's hanging on by a thread at this point) while I still could and while he might have still known who I am. I brought it up with my aunt (his wife) three or four times over the past year, but she either didn't respond or said "maybe later". Well, now it's too late. I couldn't have just shown up at their doorstep because she evidently didn't want anyone around, and they live in Vermont, so it's not like I could just pop over there. Still, it makes me sad.
I've been really anxious the last two days, and I am almost never anxious. Not sure if it's these deaths, or this whole driveway project (i.e., worrying about our cars being stolen or vandalized because we can't drive on the driveway for a week - and/or worrying about some idiot kid walking on the wet cement (although as of last night, it was fine - and it was probably hard enough not to leave footprints. I hope. Haven't looked at it this morning). Or it could be the situation with our mothers (especially MIL) - I'm not sure. But all I want to do is lie around and play on the internet, because I feel too stressed out to do much of anything else. DH proposed we spend the weekend in Chicago since it may be our last chance for awhile, since his mom is now in rehab (again) at a nursing home, so she's taken care of (he'd never agree to go if she was back in her apt, because she only had home health aids 10 hours a day, not 24/7). Plus my sister will be here from Nevada the following two weekends - so it's this weekend or never (or at least, a long time from now). So maybe we should go. It may take my mind off some of these other things.

Me at my friend's house the other day. They adopted two new kittens. Very friendly - esp this little girl!
Dividing it into sections allows each part to expand and contract, and does indeed prevent cracking. They'll often cut a wider groove and put in a fibrous material that keeps weeds from growing, but still keep from cracking.

Good morning Queen JB and Meneuers,
They way you feel about opening your email is how I feel about getting on the scale. Why can't it just say nice things. Does it not know if you have nothing good to say you should say nothing at all!!!
Well, the good news is it is Friday, and I am going to be busy here at work. Work husband has been having health issues and he is off trying to get his heart regulated so I will be doing double duty today. I also got a lunch date around 11:30. CH is passing by, and I am going to meet her at my favorite dinner I have not been to in a while, so I am very excited to see her and have a great lunch. I also need to play the power ball just in case. I am now buying $10 and splitting with a coworker. I think there is enough for both of us, and I prefer losing $5 instead of $10.
Weekend consist of Mom duty putting together some zucchini lasagnas and getting out the suitcase. I am going to try to take the least number of things without feeling I under packed. I know this might sound weird, but I only take lotion for my face on vacation. I hate the whole routine of makeup and hair. It is so time consuming and it is time I will never get back. That is the last thing I want to waste my time on while I am on vacation, so a little face cream and I am off doing fun stuff.
QOTD: I don't even think I thought about the Roman empire when I studied it in school. I have seen this on TicTok. Do you think this is real or a set up? Some men say every day. Really?
Accountability: I ate to many grain free pretzels and peanut butter.

I don't think it's weird, I'm a sunscreen and mascara girl most days and doing my hair means I brushed it, lol. Enjoy not having to deal with it all on vacation!
