What's on your Thursday Menu?
Good morning!
Sorry QJB-- I seem to have had the sleep idol last night. I got a solid 10:30 to 4:30 sleep and then a drowsy hour or two. More and more I seem to love waking up and doing simple stretches in bed. Then resting, then stretching. In no way is this exercise, but my body is popping and cracking and it feels lovely. So, more of that. Once I woke up my brain a bit, it's been a freight train of things I want to get done.
Accountability yesterday gets an A. Lots of movement and good food choices. Only water the whole day. I used to love water and that is no longer true. But I am making the effort to keep getting it down.
Today brings a walk and yoga/resistance band session. (One of the things that got my mind in gear this morning was remembering I need to pack a resistance band. And then my brain panics. I mean I only have 2 full days to put the little band in the pile...). A quick trip to Costco, Target and the bank. And a new recipe for dinner. I need to buy just enough food for two days and get something easy and healthy in the freezer for our first night back. Oh I also need to read the last 50 pages of my book so I can take my library books back and check that off the list.
QoTD: My PCP is awesome. He is always on time, gives generous personal time in his scheduling, responds quickly to emails and will refer me to anything I ask. He's also about 10-15 years younger than me so I hope he outlives me and I never have to find a new one.
Menu today seems to be
B: the last of the butternut squash and sausage. I'm going to miss this one and will make again for sure
L: deli turkey, 1/2 pecorino cheese and 15-20 pop chips
D: roasted chicken thighs and cream cheese and parmesan stuffed acorn squash.
Peace Everybody!
Good morning and Happy Cute, Adorable, Little Friday,
It's still dreary and raining here. It may be overcast but there will be no raining on my parade today.
I visited the surgeon yesterday and got great news. My hip replacement surgery is back on. While the CT scan is still being denied, the surgeon will do the surgery without the robot. I would much rather use the robot but am comfortable with this approach. I also really need the hip replacement ASAP. I'm not willing to compromise safety, of course. The surgeon said I may be able to walk without ambulatory assistance. Life changing.
QOTD - I have stayed with the same medical group for 30 years. I stuck with the same primary doctor for as long as they'll have me. I had the same primary for 20+ years until he opened up concierge medicine. I was with the next PCP for 5 years until he left. I've been with my PCP for the last 7 years and I hope he's there for much longer.
B: Tangerine.
L: 1/2 bagel and lox, salad.
D: shrimp ceviche.
HW: 371 SW(8/9/21): 324 CW: 215. 0 lbs til goal of skin reduction surgery. I'm still looking for a new plastic surgeon.

Matt, we go dancing not right away, though.
Funny story, I was in a cast from my neck to my toe for three months due to a car accident. After 3 months they tell me to take it easy and what do I do? First Sat comes around and I go dancing. The pain I felt afterwards I thought I dislocated my femur again. Not the case, thankfully, but I had to have a lot of PT sessions.

Omg - a full body cast?! How old were you?

The top was like a vest so the arms were out. The leg that was impacted was in a cast all the way to my toe (the femur was dislocated during the accident so they needed to keep that part from moving), and I had one leg out. So I had arms and one leg out. The rest was in a cast. Do not recommend.
