In my area as soon as it's PSL time at starbucks, school girls wear their shorts (because it's still warm) with Ugg boots.

You know I am all for a "Kids These Days..." rant, but we did not go to school in the era of climate change where it was 100+ degrees on any given day in September--we were in our flannels by now! Plus the school buildings are now about 50 years older because LORD KNOWS they haven't invested in the infrastructure to build a new school in this state since 1960, so the windows no longer open. Give the children (and their poor sweaty teachers) a day off!

Those porter potty style classrooms are the worst. They are like tin cans that get super hot during warm months and super cold during colder months. I honestly can't see how the poor teacher that gets that room year around can survive.

this part is true We lived in Lemoore, CA for a while when I was in 2nd and 3rd grade. My very loving and devoted Mom (ha!) would take me out the front door of our home, walk the little sidewalk and put my hand on the chain link fence. The fog in Lemoore is SO thick that you often cannot see your hand in front of your face. So she'd put my hand on the fence and say "turn into the school when you feel the gate". It was like a 10-12 minute walk in blindness and I was always a frightened child. So I'm scared not of the mountain lions of of blindly feeling my way to school a few weeks of each year!
Holy cow. Going to school was my favorite part of the day. I was like that little kid I the family circus, going everywhere. I cut through everyone's yards on the way to school, played with half a dozen dogs, and saw all the thigs.
Sadly, kids don't walk to school anymore. Everyone gets driven, even on the most beautiful days.
