The castle was built between 1919-1947. The home cooling system was not introduced till 1932 and the cost was prohibitive, although I think Mr Hearst wouldn't have cared. Seems like having bathrooms for each room was an absolute priority; some guest rooms have two bathrooms.
I also think to preserve the carpets and silk drapery they hardly open the windows so the rooms become very hot. We got lucky because with certain temps (not too hot or cold) they open the windows, so there was air and they had fans in all the rooms.

Good morning, everybody!

QJB, congratulations on completing your degree! And I'm glad that you decided to commemorate the beginning of decorative gourd season with cookies.

Ok, I'm not pointing fingers but there are only two Chipwichs left. And I only ate two. Just saying.

I'm driving down to Birmingham this weekend to bring my son some stuff for his apartment. Mostly his gaming chair but a few other things. The plan is a half day of work today and then head home for lunch and gym.

We pick up the rental car tonight. Tomorrow morning I will hit the road after I lift and hope to get to Nashville by Saturday night. I will have lunch with my son and I fly back to Chicago on Sunday night. Monday we plan to launch Marilyn's kayak.

Me and Matt are lunching next week, so we need to pick a spot.

QOTD: I would have said no but then people pointed out Righty Tighty.

Breakfast: Protein Bar

Lunch: Prosciutto, Pesto and Mozzarella sandwich

Dinner: Fish Tacos

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good morning all and Happy Friday,

Thank you for all the support yesterday. Everyone's words are really touching. The surgery got canceled already. The hospital won't take my insurance. I'm on it today to see if I can make it work, somewhere...

It's Labor Day Weekend. Since I'm not currently working, can I still celebrate? I'm not going into work today so I can ponder. Lot of fun and/or games this weekend. Rob Zombie/Alice Cooper/Ministry/Filter Concert tonight, Taste of Polonia tomorrow, Taste of Melrose Sunday with my sister. I won't be eating anything at Taste of Polonia. Taste of Melrose is one of my favorite festivals. It's like 70 Mom & pop stands charging $3-$4 a plate. It's mostly Italian and Mexican food. Please see scary Taste of Melrose clown below.

QOTD - NESW Never Eat Soggy Waffles, ODAAT One Day At A Time.

Accountability: I didn't eat my favorite thin crust pizza last night. I went to the dive bar in the same strip center and decided I can get it another time, if I want.

B: Dannon Light and Fit Coconut Yogurt, Tangerine.

Linner: Something unique like a pambazo with a friend who never gets down to the city.

Dinner: Fairlife shake

Pic 1: My 'business partner' and I at the National Convention - Sportscards, Sports memorabilia with Karl Malone with a Bulls Playoff heckling sign trying to make the same face as the sign.

Pic 2: Taste of Melrose Clown with doll in stroller that is dressed as his doppelganger. He is not employed by the festival. He just chooses to dress as a clown as an attendee.

Pic #3: A blip in time.

Oh no! I hope you can find a hospital that will do the surgery. Keep at it, Matt. I had forgotten NESW.
