Good Morning! I just caught up on yesterday's thread. Yesterday was not the day I had expected. First, Mom was wrong and there was not 6 hours of wait time--she conflated two different appointments. We were home by 1pm, yay! But COVID restriction meant they wouldn't let me inside, so I was stuck sitting in the car for 3.5 hours with no wifi. I listened to an audio book and designed some new cookie cutters on my iPad but it was basically a waste of time. Oh well. When we came back to the house, mom napped, Grim finished up his handy-work, and I moved on to "tech support" with Dad. His iPad did that split screen thing and he was basically ready to throw the entire thing out, lol. Poor dad.

This weekend we are having a birthday party cookout for Grim's daughter and I'm going to make her some special cookies, so I will get started on those today. If the rain holds off, I will also try to get the patio looking nice. We really haven't been out there much at all this season, and it's looking quite disheveled. I'll see what I can do to get it looking cuter :)

QOTD: Do you prefer pens or pencils? Favorite one? When I write, I like a good felt tip pen like a PaperMate Flair :) I also like mechanical pencils because they are always sharp. Dull pencils make me sad.

Accountability: Let us never speak of yesterday.

I kept wondering what they were going to do for six hours before cataract surgery. Luckily mine was over in about an hour so my sister just went to the park and got her walk in while she waited. Stuck in a car with no WIFI would be tough. I worked on my patio this week using the leaf blower to get off any stray leaves and then vacuuming the cushions. It looks so much nicer and there will be lots of nice days to sit outside now that most of the really hot weather should be over.

I am with you on the PaperMate Flair. I love them.

I would have done the same, weather permitting - taken a long walk. I do that sometimes when I take my mother to appointments.

My knee is still not working so walks are out of the question at the moment.

I finally have my knee working pretty well. It took a few months of PT, Tylenol, Biofreeze, heat, and massage, as well as Voltaran as last resort.

I have been enjoying the cooler weather (mid-80s) with sitting outside on days off to have my lunch or read a book. I try to find a spot of shade if it is hotter.

QOTD: I prefer pens over pencils. Felt tip pens or ones that roll really nicely. Mechanical pencils over traditional.

Good morning QJB and menuers,

Sounds like a day! Glad it's behind you.

QOTD- Standard ballpoint, I'd say. I type 99.5% of the time now and it feels like my handwriting had regressed to that of a mad professor when I have to write these days.

Office day today and the entire day is literally full of meetings before and after my GI follow up at 11:30. Yesterday's doctor felt like am arm wrestling match to be heard. He gave me a dual diagnosis, several prescriptions, and some answers. He also asked for another ultrasound to check blood flow to my liver because he said my liver enzymes were high. They're pretty much normal compared to pre-surgery but I'm good with checking. I am getting the bile binding medication and will be stopping my PPIs for a while. Fingers crossed.

He also is putting in for some special antibiotics that have to be approved by insurance. Two weeks on and two weeks off going forward once it's approved. Ans he didn't answer me when i asked about the duration. I've never heard of extended use like that, so we'll see.

Anyway, prepping for our full day meeting tomorrow. Good times.

Accountability - Half a burger at a place that only offers burgers. No regrets.

Today's menu is up in the air a bit. Will take eggs and eat grits before leaving. I'll also make some tuna salad for soft food. Probably protein pudding when I get home but it's a long day.

Cheers, everyone!

A significant portion of WLS patients have high liver enzymes for a year or two after the rapid weight loss portion. Mine were high pre WLS and still are but not as high as they were in the first couple of years. We just decided the pre-op high was my baseline and moved on.

yes - mine were high the first couple of years after WLS. My PCP flipped out - but the bariatric folks knew what was going on. Rapid weight loss is tough on livers. Mine did eventually settle back down...

It happened to me right after surgery and years later when I dropped about 20 pounds of regain.
