Hey hey! What's up, gang? I had a great day yesterday. I made those final edits first thing and turned the paper in before 9am :) We celebrated with a nice lobster roll at a restaurant right on the water. It was delish and highly worth however the many many hundreds of calories over my limit.

Today I am taking my mom to her cataract surgery. The surgery itself only takes about 20 minutes but we have to get there 6 hours early for her prep and there is a recovery period afterwards, so it's a whole day thing--especially since they are over an hour away. Grim is coming and he'll hang back at the house with my dad and get some handy-man and tall-guy stuff done around the house for them.

I will bring my laptop and if I can get wifi, I will try to get started on this whole resume thing. Eek. Otherwise, I guess I will just read a book. I'll go back and check out your recommendations from last week.

QOTD: Have you ever been in a "haunted" house? My bestie in middle/high school lived in a house that was built in the 1700s and lots of things creaked, groaned, and cabinet doors opened on their own. They all believed it was haunted and used to get themselves all worked u over it. I just assumed it was an old house and never bought into the hype.

Accountability: I had alllll the calories from the lobster roll, and I am not mad about it.

I guess I will bring a meat stick and Quest Bar since I will be stuck in a waiting room for 8 hours. Not sure if we'll stop for dinner on the way home.

Mornin everyone! Sending good energy to your mom and you! It's an easy surgery pretty much. I did it a couple of years ago. It's still stressful though!

I have my eye specialist appointment today at 10:05. Not looking forward to it. I'll have to get a dye test.

I realized after Jim's post that it'd been 5 years for me this last March. Since my VSG. I consider myself a 50/50 failure and success. I've kept off 60 pounds even at my highest regain. But I also never reached goal. It's a hard pill to swallow. There is a lot of time I regret the surgeries. I wish I could take NSAIDs for my back & legs. There are more but I'll spare you.

QOTD: this house and my cousins house is particularly haunted. It's an old boarding house and it's very haunted. It's creepy AF. This house used to be haunted. I don't feel em here anymore. But both my mom and me have seen things. The previous owner died here and his wife died shortly after. When my grandpa put a new staircase in it kicked up a bunch of activity. When I lived in the basement it was an adjustment. I told it that I wanted them to leave me alone.

B: egg bowl coffee x2

L: ???

D: ???

PS. I've been able to feel bones scrapping each other in my spine. So I am going to seek a second opinion. Looked on my insurance/Medicaid page to see who accepted it. Sent a message and now I wait, I just can't keep living like this.

Good morning! That is not the best day after finishing your paper but sometimes we just do what we have to, hope everything goes smoothly for your mom. I have never heard of 6 hour pre-cataract prep, they make it sound so easy and more like in or out.

Work out, mammogram this morning, then we are having a virtual party for all the people that took our early retirement offer; will be interesting since the closed our Tampa HQ from this morning through further notice. I"m sending "surprise blizzard" thoughts to the Gulf of Mexico; climate change has made the weather this year so weird, why can't it drop a blizzard? One of my colleagues called me yesterday and mentioned that he lives on an island in the bay and his house is 20 inches above sea level. They currently expect about 7 feet in storm surge. Freak blizzard is needed. I also have my afternoon workout with my trainer and my bookclub, I ended up liking Lady Tan's Circle of Women a lot more than I thought I would, maybe because I don't know as much about Chinese history as I should. Also, footbinding was horrific. I'm looking forward to book discussion.

QOTD - I have been in haunted places, the morgue and the solitary cells at Port Arthur in Tasmania are 100% haunted. A friend of mine lived in the house in Rhode Island that the movie The Conjuring was based on. I definitely think energy leaves it's mark in some places.

menu today

I ended up getting chicken pot pie at dinner so I'll have the half of that I brought home for lunch

Have a terrific Tuesday everyone!

Good morning QJB and menuers,

Yay for being done with school! Not so much the updating resume piece of it.

QOTD- I joked about this place being haunted because I'd find my crawl space open and the TV kept turning itself on at night. I took a haunted tour in New Orleans with some interesting history included.

GI doctor this afternoon and work catch up this morning. Keeping on!

Food today is meat sauce with spaghetti squash, butter grits, boiled eggs, tuna, protein pudding x2, more tea.

Have an excellent day!

Good morning ~ HA, that meme is funny. Worth every bite - that is my idea of heaven! Hopefully all goes smoothly with your mom today. I got up and on the treadmill this am mistakenly said yes to a system update, ugh. It took for ever but I was determined to do my workout. I fed the babies, made my coffee and whatnot and got on. I'm doing a Tommy Rivs (love him) recovery series that are short walks in Mexico - beautiful. I did 2 since they are so short (10ish min) but I'm trying to establish a regular routine that doesn't have me hell no-ing and opting for the snooze button. I can work much harder for longer, but the routine/habit is what I'm trying to establish more than anything. The time and intensity will come. Stella's just trying to get her groove back. Work is good though 60 hours squeezed into 45. Life is good, just plugging along. Tonight is more class work and giving all the babies a good brushing.

QOTD - When I was young, everything scared me to death! I don't believe in any of that now, though I can see how people would. There is always an explanation and like you, it's just an old house.

Foods:

B - coffee x 2, protein cold brew

l - lemon pepper chicken, spicy cauli rice, salsa

d- pizza in a pan - supreme style

s - cucumbers, tomatoes, SF popsicles

822clas/103g protein

Have a great day!

JB, I am so happy that the last paper is done. My special celebration meal is beef wellington. It is filet mignon with a layer of onion, mushroom, and wine, wrapped in puff pastry and then baked in the oven. The original English version also had pate de fois gras.

We called it goose liver and I did eat it a lot growing up, but no longer want to eat that, so I make mine without it. It is a lot of calories because of the pastry but one of those things that Pru would say are worth the calories. I feel the same way about the lobster roll. That grilled roll makes all the difference.

my grandmother used to make goose liver sandwiches for us when we were kids. I loved them. I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole now. First, it just sounds disgusting. Secondly, I know how they fatten the geese's livers. I saw a video of them doing it once - it's even worse than I imagined. I'll spare you the details.
