What's on your Wednesday Menu?

Good morning QJB and menuers,
I feel that meme so much lately.
JB, huge kudos on destroying all your assignments except the final! That's massive. You didn't have any teams to complete things with?
QOTD- I'd pick some Thomas Kincaid landscape book or something. Does that exist?
Today is a cooking competition at work. Teams have $50 to cook a dish for 30 and an hour to do it. I didn't sign on to a team. Much as I appreciate that we try and carve out time for these activities, they do take away from work time. I've been asked to moderate a panel happening at the same time, so priorities!
It was such a beautiful morning yesterday being in the lower 60's for the first time in a long time! It was so refreshing and I had my door and windows open for the fresh air.
Today's menu includes a cucumber/tomato/feta salad, tuna and a gluten free piece of bread, piece of a banana, portion of pineapple, Salisbury steak, slices of turkey, and boiled eggs with mustard.
Have a great day!

My cousin has a aa Thomas Kincaid coffee table book! That'd be awesome!

I am all for work activities when it brings people together, and you actually learn each other's strengths not work related. It's never a waste of time and it helps the company culture. Kudos to them for planning it.

Sheila, I think I told you about the cooking class team building we did at work once and how making the whipped cream with one of my colleagues was so eye opening to how different are working styles are. That was probably in 1999-2000 and I still keep it in mind.

Right? They are invaluable.
Besides, I'm the one who organizes these kinds of work activities, don't put my job down as a waste of time.

Hey!
Not a waste of time at all. I just can't participate in the activity today because of meeting conflicts out of my control, which is where the frustration lies. The team activities are tougher to engage in when it's three hours in the middle of the work day with a week's notice. What you do is invaluable to teams. I'm also on an employee wellness committee.

Hahaha you are an HR person's dream! I love a good team building activity, especially ones that have food and not escape rooms, lol.

I think this was back in early 2000, and we had several depts compete for the amount of food they would bring for the food bank. The dept that won figured it was easier to get cash from the employees and somebody went out and bought beans. I had never seen so much beans. It was literally a hill of beans. But the criteria was more food, and he understood the assignment. He was the hero for the rest of the year. Next year somebody topped it off with potatoes. But the gig was up and the event fizzled out because they figured out how to go around the system. But it was so much fun while it lasted. Talk about brining people together for a good cause.
