The pictures of Maui are just devastating. I have so many pics of me enjoying a great vacation on Front St. and its impossible to imagine that its gone and the site of so much tragedy now :(
We saw the explosion on the news and wondered if it was near you. So glad you guys are safe!

I have cried many times about Maui's fires. It's just so darn sad. Devastating. I also wondered how close you were to the house explosion. That is so scary!

I'm glad your family is okay through everything going on. It's terrible to see what's happening there and on the big island.

Celebrating a HUGE Triumph in Kitty Land! Shoutout to Innie for dropping a whopping 0.2 oz! Somehow it feels like that little number was a big victory for all the plump pets and humans out there.
Now let's pray that my next doctor's appointment can also show a loss (even if its just 0.2 oz!).

Happy Monday. Wishing everyone a wonderful week.
I went to Oppenhiemer this weekend. I really liked it. Although it was 3 hours in length the time went very fast. On Saturday DD and I went for a short 3 mile hike, beautiful area, then out to lunch. She was dog sitting for a family member in a small town near us. Yesterday was just a workout followed by a 75 minutes of Yin (stretching) yoga. That felt really nice. Meal prep for the week ahead. Today, not much planned except inferno pilates and a little more meal prep (protein frostys). A little down time perhaps.
QOTD: Yep, I do use Stevia with caramel flavoring for my cold brew. Whatever artifical sweetner is in my Crystal Ligh****er enhancers, sf pudding, and any other sf options I use. I pick Stevia mostly but will use any of the other brands.
Accountability: Planned lunch out with DD on Saturday. Had a really good MaBinh sandwich. I cut away 75% of the bread. DD and I shared a apple tart with ice cream. Popcorn with chocolate drizzle. Back on track today.
B: triple zero greek yogurt with keto granola, blueberries, cold brew with half n half
L: asian chicken salad with light sesame ginger dressing
D: summer berry salad with chicken, light poppy seed dressing
S; protein frosty, sf chocolate
E: infernio pilates with weights and bands, plus or minus weight workout this afternoon

The last of the human freedoms, to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances. (Frankl, 1946)
I used saccharin to replace sugar when I first started Weigh****chers in 1973. It was all that was available then. Coke make a diet drink called Tab that was sweetened with saccharin and Weigh****chers encouraged us not to use sugar. I remember signing a petition at Weigh****chers to keep saccharin available. There was a movement to ban it because it was believed to be causing cancer. At the time I was more afraid of weight gain than cancer.
When Splenda was first introduced it was not sold in stores. You had to send them proof that you had diabetes and then you could buy it from them by mail. My mother had diabetes and I got it for her. Splenda tasted so much better than that bitter saccharin.
After I had RNY I used a lot of Splenda. I added it to protein drinks, fruit, cooking, baking and sprinkled it on many things. I think I used a box a month. Now I have some but a box will last of years. Once in a while I will use some. I do not like stevia or any of the others and am extremely sensitive to sugar alcohol.
In the last year I have gone back to real sugar but use very little of that and really do not like sweet taste much any more.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
remember cyclamates? Those were banned in the 60s, too, because it was thought it caused cancer. But I read an article a year or two ago that said further research suggested that it really isn't that harmful - no more so than the current artificial sweeteners. Although I doubt they'd bring it back since so many older people would remember the cyclamate cancer scare.
re: Tab - I was a Tab-a-holic in college. I don't drink soft drinks anymore and haven't in years, but I liked Tab.
