oh yes - La Choy chow mein - the noodles and the meat/veggie combo that went on top of them came in cans. We had that sometimes, too- I guess when my mom was in the mood for something "exotic". LOL!

That blue canned chow mein stuff was our version of a super exotic dinner, too, and was the other thing I opted to go hungry rather than eat. It's also the sole food item responsible for why I despised Chinese food until I was an adult. Go figure!

lots of boiled potatoes in my family vs. baked or mashed. Never had the canned potatoes until my FIL used them to make hash browns. I always thought they had a funny taste.

Agree - they totally tasted funny, but that was our dinner in the 70's and 80's. I found a couple cans of potatoes in my mom's pantry after she passed. She loved them.

Awe to the meme made me feel warm and fuzzy. Your Blue reminds me of My Ceaser that I bought as a support dog for my dad when he got his cancer diagnoses. They were the best of friends and Ceaser stayed by dads' side through all his treatments and was a good companion since we all had to work. Without a dog it was 9 hours being alone every day. Ceaser became is companion and dad lived for another 12 years. Ceaser took on my dad's disease in the 9th year of his life. They both passed away of kidney cancer. Yesterday's question said pets as you grew up, I was thinking childhood. Ceaser was around in my late 20's. He was a full black lab, but no one wanted him because he was a runt. I got him for $50 best dog ever. I wish Rudy was more like him, but Rudy is just like Mumsie. His way or no way. Such a hard head. Grrr.
