Nice. Did you boil the lobster yourself?

I bought two frozen lobster tails and thawed them and then steamed them myself.

Your lobster roll sounds divine. And grilled corn is pretty great!

Good morning everybody!

We got a lot done yesterday! We started with heating our bamboo strips so that we could use a ice to straighten the nodes (the circles on the outside of the bamboo shoot), then we ran out strips through the shaper to make them 60 degree triangles.

We then set up our planing forms. Because the to end of a rod is smaller than the bottom, each piece needs to be planed to a taper. Using a micrometer, we set up the planing forms. They are measured to a 1/1000 of an inch (about a human hair). While we ate lunch, they baked our strips.

After lunch we sanded, and ran the top parts of the rod through the shaper again. Today we plane and glue!

Marilyn and my retired partner went hiking yesterday. Today they may fish to get some practice ahead of their guided trip tomorrow.

Have a great day, all!

Are those little screens in the top picture magnified images for the detail work (like tie-ing flies?)

That is the engraver, she decorates the reel seats and other parts of the rod. It was actually her birthday yesterday, so we had cupcakes. I tried to upload an example of the engraving, but it didn't work. They have a picture in the lobby of the rod that they made for President Carter with the Presidential Seal carved on it.
