Just walmart, but my local one is currently overrun with back to school merchandise. All yellow, no orange or black in sight, yet!

I love the idea of doing impossible things before breakfast. That sounds like the perfect way to set the mood and pace for the day.

Good morning, everybody!

We got caught up in thunderstorms over Kentucky, so had to divert to Louisville on Sunday afternoon. My son's flight made it into Atlanta on time, so we ended up getting him a hotel room so that he could rest while we were diverted. Marilyn had quite a time trying to get him to the hotel shuttle via telephone.

We decided to head up to Blue Ridge at about 11:00 on Sunday night. It was a late drive but better than Monday morning. My son finished his computer program (and junior year) at about 6:00 AM on Monday morning. A little worse for the wear, me made it to class at 8:30.

The rods are made from Tonkin bamboo, cut into 6 hexagonal strips and glued together. Day 1 consisted of: remove some of the nodes from the bamboo with a Farrier's Rasp, flame the bamboo with torches to make it harder and for color, split the bamboo using hammers and chisels, align the bamboo strips so that the nodes are evenly spaced and not in certain parts of the rod, scrape the enamel off of the bamboo with a cabinet scraper, and cut each piece to 52 inches.

Splitting the bamboo was the hardest part, hopefully I have enough pieces of the right size.

Have a great day, all!

Glad you made it in! My mom says there had been some crazy weather. Your class sounds technical but great! Do they let you make as many pieces as you think you'll need? How many were collateral damage from the learning curve? Congrats on your son finishing his class.

I need 12 pieces, I think the bamboo could produce 20 if split perfectly. I have my 12 and maybe 4 backups. About 4 more went into the trash or were not attempted.

I'm fascinated about the step by step process you're describing. I like fishing but just grab any old pole. I'm barely familiar with any details of rod manufacturing.

Do you have a specific lure(s) that you prefer? Do you ever buy homemade lures?

Good morning QJB and menuers,

Happy Tuesday! Glad a good time was had and you made it back from the conference. Sorry for your muffin-induced RH.

QOTD- I'd go with my mom right now if it didn't take her away from her hubby.

So there's a NSV I've been thinking about. Office work means navigating parking in one of the lots. If you get in after 8 or so it means parking on what I call the back 60. It comes with having to weave in between cars during the hike in. As a large person, I absolutely hated having to do the mental math every time I approached a space...was the gap wide enough for me to fit without buffing the vehicles? The last few weeks it's been pretty apparent that if the gap is wide enough for the driver to get out, I don't have to worry about it at all. I'm still convinced I'll rub against the vehicles or have to turn sideways and scrape through...but no. Been spending a lot of time in the parking lots lately and it's been on my mind. Anyway!

Accountability- insides of a tart from the office cafeteria that was topped with blueberries and strawberries.

Exercise - Not today.

Menu - Shaved turkey breast, chicken breast at work, flank steak cut tiny, protein pudding, part of a banana, an orange, sausage snack sticks.

Cheers!
