It's Sunday! What's on your menu?

Morning menuers!

Happy Sunday to you. I'm on fire but in a good way. My arms and core are sore from adventures yesterday and I got new tires, delicious seafood, and seared flank steak. Today I'll head to the store to pick up a few things, maybe try out the converted car wash in town if it doesn't rain this morning, and do some cooking.

QOTD - What's your take on cornbread? I know it's not bariatric-friendly, but are you a sweet/cakey northern or a savory in this camp? Even coming from the north, I'm savory all the way. Gimme some green chiles or jalapeños, with cheese, please!

Accountability- I opened a new jar of peanut butter and spent 15 minutes preparing it. Mmm, peanut butter.

Exercise - Recumbent bike and bumping to medium weights. I felt good after cooling down yesterday. Time to dial things up a little.

Menu - Flank steak, shaved turkey breast, broccoli stuffed chicken breast, more flank steak, breakfast casserole, blueberries and seaweed.

Happy Sunday!

Good mornin everyone!

Not a lot going on today and I'm hoping it stays that way. This cold is kicking my butt, I now have a little cough but even just a little coughing hurts my back.

Happy to say it, we got a decent rain yesterday. It hailed but it was just slightly larger than marble size. I got a row done on a complicated bracelet project. I made a quick pickle with an English cucumber, onions and garlic. It is so good. I kind of flew by the seat of my pants with measurements besides the sugar. I don't do these often but I love the onions especially.

Today I'm hoping to clean my room a bit and vacuum the house. That may be too optimistic but we'll see. I've been having some new pain in my hip region and in my right leg. I may decide to take it pretty easy today. Of course I don't know what my mom has planned, I know she was going to mow but it's probably too wet now. We got about an inch or so of rain.

QOTD: savory here. My south may be showing here...I like savory with cracklings overall. I'm not the hugest fan of cornbread overall though. I do prefer the kind with cheese and green chilies over sweet any day...I can do jalapeños if it's been seeded and deveined. Everyone else in my family likes a denser but slightly sweet cornbread. Sometimes I add like a tsp of sugar to mine or I've added honey too. It's best to do honey butter though if you ask me.

B: overnight oats with a bit of mango, yogurt and coffee

L: I'm hoping I'll actually get to fix the shrimp and stir fry today. I may make my mom some rice.

D: PP shake with churro or cinnamon bear flavoring added(it's unsweetened and calorie free!). I may have a no sugar added fudgesicle

I hope everyone has a good day and week ahead. Here is a meme that made me belly laugh yesterday. It even looks like our Frank who is afraid of his own toots.

Congrats on getting things done! It all counts. I'm low-key jelly of the pickle. It's something I've been meaning to learn since it's new to me.

I am in the middle of a redo of my office and currently at the mess stage. I am pulling out everything and piling it in my bedroom to sort and organize. I just have to accept the mess as part of the overall change. I found my Apple watch last night. It was under the couch. Black watch with a black band. It was against a black strip act bottom of the couch. Blended in so well I could not see.

Woo! Glad you found the watch! You're motivating me to re-enter my sacrificial office room, which contains a lot of TBD items. :)

Mornin' Weekenders!

I need to continue the usual today - working on my classes and watching a couple of DVDs for my upcoming film group meetings (didn't get around to the DVDs yesterday). I'm also going to start on a cake (my b-day is tomorrow) so I don't have to do the whole thing tomorrow. I'm thinking of making a Swedish Midsummer cake (a sponge cake with whipped cream and strawberries). I cut up some strawberries last night. Can probably do the cake part today. The whipped cream I'll have to do at the last minute. I also need to get some exercise. Weather should be cooperative today, so I'll get out on my bike or walk.

QOTD: I've used the same recipe for years, and it's a combo of northern and southern styles. Straight cornmeal (no flour) with just enough sugar to give a hint of sweetness.

B: Skyr with strawberries, a piece of protein zucchini/bran bread, coffee with half & half

AS: protein shake

L: a piece of Danish rye bread with some kind of protein

AS: Ratio yogurt (?)

D: black bean dal, bagged salad

have a great Sunday, All!

Happy early birthday, Tri****he cake sounds light and fruity. Hope you enjoy it! You don't see many straight cornmeal cakes, but they are gluten-free with no flour!.

Enjoy your good weather!

I love cornbread. I grew up making it from the recipe on the cornmeal box and it had to be baked in a cast iron skillet to get a really brown crust. I am perfectly happy now with Jiffy Mix. I don't add anything to it but enjoy it when I have things like jalapenos or black beans when other people make it that way. I just use Jiffy Mix, 1/3 cup of milk, one egg and a small cast iron skillet.

We grew up with everything Jiffy mix! Don't remember using their cornbread, though. Definitely the blueberry muffin with the colored granules and their pizza dough mix. Jiffy was always on sale and the most affordable boxed choice.
