What's on your Saturday menu?

Good mornin and happy weekend everyone.

Not a lot going on here today. I've still got a sore throat, runny nose and I'm achy. I hope it passes soon cause it's annoying. My mind is in the gutter and I am firmly anti medical everything. My PCP wasn't able or willing to do anything because I wasn't technically "fired" from the pain clinic. The big F U was real but now I can't get help from my PCP because I am technically still a patient there. They all want me to try integrated medicine / homeopathic crap. I have to call Monday to even see if this certain doctor would take my insurance. I did get put on gabapentin again. I have taken it before but it interacted with a med I was on at the time. It's for nerve pain. I'm trying really hard not to let my mind go more south. There would be a hole I'd hide in if I could

My A1c went down .4 so I am happy with that.

QOTD: what are you listening to lately? Music, audio books or pod casts.

Music of course for me. Hodgepodge of stuff. Corey Taylor, Pantera, Atreyu, Tech N9ne and Beartooth are all on my playlist.

B: oatmeal, pumpkin(trying to use this up), yogurt and coffee

L: haven't decided

D: tilapia, stir fry veggies with maybe some peanut sauce

S: ?????

Opal for your view pleasure.

Good morning Mel and weekend menuers,

Well, I'm having a bit of a day. My plans included being at Lowe's at six to get the neutralizer for my deck, picking up my grocery order at 7, and working on my deck before triple digit**** Alas, it was not to be.

I've got a flat. The first full one requiring a tire change since I got the car in 2012. No big deal, and at least I know there's no dog under my car since I'm on the ground. It was a bit of a process since I'm still not exactly strong but I got the donut on after the car slid off the jack once because gravel isn't the most stable surface medium. Unfortunately, the donut is flat, too. Maybe an 11 year old donut is past its shelf life, which I should check on.

Anyway, I've canceled my grocery order, placed a delivery order including a tire pump and can of fix a flat (discovered I have two jacks but no pump), and I'm waiting to call the tire shop to check on my warranty. The earliest delivery window is 11-12, so I'd still have time to drive the 45 minutes or more there and hope they can do something before they close. This, of course, is a perfect world scenario, so we'll see how it plays out in real life.

Think I'm going to do a build your own cajun seafood boil bag experiment tonight. I found some recipe ideas online that will help concentrate flavors and I'm all for that! I've also decided to focus on working through some of the massive hoard of food in my overstuffed kitchen so menus might be a little different. It's a good challenge to get creative.

That's my morning and it's only 7:30. Woo! Going to see how productive I can be until my delivery gets here.

Mel, I'm so sorry about your doctors and everything medical. You've been dealing with this for so long and the medical folks you're working with seem to have checked out. It's easy to say to find another doctor but there are factors, and I bet pain clinics want referrals. Fingers crossed that the gabapentin brings some relief since it sounds like there's no pharmaceutical conflict. It took about a week to start working for me.

Oh, QOTD- Music. Audio books put me to sleep and I don't care for podcasts. I need to do more because music is life for me a lot of the time and I don't have it in my life nearly enough. Some years back I was in a position where I could listen to headphones while I work. That isn't really the case now though I could probably Pandora at home. And I'm on the family account for Amazon music. It would be nice to have tunes while puttering around the house. Now I'm in the mood to go belt out the Bad Wolves rendition of Zombie. Yes!

Exercise - Yeah, changing the tire. If it made me sweat that much, it's exercise.

Menu - Seafood boil for dinner, maybe seared flank steak, hoping for the breakfast casserole bake with bell peppers and diced potato. It's really hard to skip garlic and onion but I'm working on it. I did get a FODMAP app to check some foods on. Also seaweed, blueberries, protein pudding, sausage snack sticks I bought to try and don't care for.

Have an awesome Saturday everyone!

That is a good version of Zombie!

Music is my escape and outlet. I admire wordsmiths so much and to put it to music is just my thing.

thank you for the kind words! I am really struggling with it but not giving up.

There are a few covers I love. That's definitely one of them and it probably helps that it fits my vocal range really well. :)

Music can do so much for the soul. Don't give up! A day at a time sucks but you're still moving forward. Fingers are all still crossed on the gabapentin for you!

It has! But I also kind of make it that way. It was a comedy of errors/Murphy's law kind of morning for sure, though. After taking a half hour to get the car jacked enough to remove the wheel (need more muscles!), it slipped off. The donut was flat. I didn't have a pump. Missed my grocery order window. The pump I had delivered broke while refilling my tire on the way to the shop after my pressure light came on. The primary charger port in my car has stopped working. My tire pressure gauge snapped off while attempting to check the tire. My ponytail holder broke. My hat blew away, though I chased that sucker down.

But, you know what? I seared a tasty steak while waiting on the delivery person. A shockingly helpful deputy stopped to check on me when he saw me checking my tires in the old parking lot. The tire place was across the street from an amazing seafood joint that does the bag thing I wanted to try tonight. I decided to eat there while waiting, and I did not get pancaked crossing the busy road. I also got $200 off new tires because my old ones didn't make it to warranty. And the shop guy was super sweet.

I checked off a couple of errands on the way home but opted not to vacuum or clean the car in this weather. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!

I saw a band this week you might like -- Andy Frasco and the UN. they were part of a festival lineup. Super high energy. I'm also listening to the Wilder podcast, it's about Laura Ingalls Wilder, Rose Wilder Lane and the Little House books. Very good.

Ohh they'd be good to listen to while cleaning! Great energy! Thanks for the suggestion.

During the months when my mother was slowly leaving this world, one of the things that I found would hold her interest was reading the Little House books. When I finish this Lizzie Borden book, I am going to start the Laura Ingalls Wilder podcasts. I read anything I can find about her. I have been fascinated by her since about the second grade.
