We ended up going with State Farm and bundling the auto and home.

It was super early on for me, maybe within a month or two of my joining/surgery. I remember the "1 babybel not 2, 1 egg not 2" so clearly though

Man, at least it offset some of the cost. I got that same lesson in complacency when I bought my house since I'd been with Allstate for years. Because of my "remote" location and unique heating setup, Allstate would only cover through an affiliate. I shopped around and the very next company offered me a fraction of the cost. Four digits cheaper for home and car through Farmer's. Probably helps that they're Farmer's.

I left State Farm after being with them over 40 years and found much better rates with Farmers. And Farmers has awesome advertisements.
