What's on your Thursday Menu?

our Tuesday specials have gone up to $7.something (which comes to $8 with tax) since the pandemic, but it's still better than the full price. (matinees (on most weekdays) are also $7.something for seniors, which would be me). I don't have to pay the convenience fee if I order tickets online for one of the theaters (I'm a loyalty member there), but I do at this other one (even though I'm a loyalty member there, too. But evidently, you have to be a PREMIUM loyalty member there to waive the fee. Sheesh!)

(P.S. the place that waives the convenience fee for loyalty members priced this film at $9.50 for seniors for Thurs and Fri matinees (for Barbie, too) - probably because of their popularity)

I don't know if you have Regal Cinemas where you are but I have Regal Unlimited for $21.99 a month. You can see as many movies as you want. It costs a $.50 fee to order tickets, but if you go to 2 movies a month you have more than paid for it. Plus you get 10% discount on concessions. I love movies and try to go to the ones that have the least amount of people. Plus my favorite theater has reclining seats. Without it even the matinees are $13.50 for seniors. They used to have $5 Tuesdays, but now it's a mystery movie on Mondays for $5. I'm just glad that they survived the pandemic, but they have closed one of my other go to theaters...

I did loosen up with money a few years ago. In the winter, I sometimes pay the $10 delivery fee for grocery delivery because it is not safe for me to be out on the ice and snow. I found out that it does not really matter. I would pay the $4 for the movie convenience now. The ridiculous prices for popcorn and snacks at movies still bug me, but I could not sit through a movie without that bag of popcorn. I used to be really good at sneaking in my own snacks to movie theaters.

I would pay the $10 delivery fee if the roads were bad and I really needed whatever the food items were, but the $4 convenience fee for a movie when I'm a retiree who can go at any time seems wasteful to me - although if I was going with a group of friends, I'd just pay it since I can't really ask a group to switch times/days just on my account. But with my brother (who's here on vacation), we have other options...

That extra movie fee would bother me too. It still bugs me to pay the $10 delivery fee. I was thinking yesterday about moving somewhere warm all year. It is so nice when I don't deal with the cold and ice. I have a lot of family in North Carolina but hate their super hot summers. I think I would really like to move to San Diego area or even Mexico, but will probably just dream about actually doing it.

Thrifty-ness just reminded me of something. Ha.

My last partner, earlier in our relationship, would park 3 miles away from where we wanted to be because of the two euro parking fee and he wanted to find a free lot. Committing a much heavier me to a round trip hike in addition to the activities we wanted to do was...not always good. We had to learn to compromise on where you could save a few and when it made sense to spend.

He also would make his daughter pee behind the bushes rather than spend the half euro fee to use the bathroom. Charging for bathrooms there result in a LOT of people peeing in public. Phew.

Happy Pre-Friday

QJB- you are a busy lady between school and cookies plus any fun excursions. Not enough time. Congratulations on getting your papers done and turned in.

I am in Montana. Today is mom's memorial service. I mmay try to get to her condo to pack up a few things I have selected to keep before the service. DD and I left for Montana on Tuesday. We stopped at a few sites along the way to sightsee. We spent the night with a cousin. We went on a long utv ride yesterday morning to see some backcountry. Very beautiful but quite a bit of smoke in the air from fires. It wasn't too bad though. We left around 1pm to head to our hometown but wanted to visit a ghost town on the way. We drove 11 miles on a rutted gravel road to arrive only to discover we didn't have enough time to do the ghost ton and make it to my final destination in time to pick my MIL up for our pre-arranged dinner date. Oh well, next time we will make sure we have enough time to do the ghost town.

QOTD: spent several weeks staying with my mom during her recovery from her fall and surgery.

meals TBD. No exercise today.
