As I eliminate clutter, books are one of the things I have almost completely removed from my home. I have a very few actual books for sentimental reasons. Everything else is on the Kindle. I never bought cookbooks. My mom collected them and it was fun to sit and read them, but I left them at her house and almost never actually cooked from a recipe.
I do a Google search when I need to cook something. I store the recipe in my Paprika app if it is a keeper. One of the downfalls of using recipes from cookbooks is that they often call for one or more spices or other ingredients that you don't have, go and buy, and then store forever without using it again. I am currently working on decluttering my kitchen and getting rid of old jars of spices.

I am non discriminating in how I consume. Kindle, paperback, audio book, ebook app, hardcover but I love love love being surrounded by books. Because I consume across all the platforms, I had to create a shelf on my good reads where I track all the physical books I own so I don't accidentally buy them in an audio or e-format

My father loved pulp fiction. He had stacks and shelves of Alistair MacLean, Ian Fleming, Louis L'Amour, etc etc.
At some point he started fuming because publishers would release old volumes with new covers and titles. It really ticked him off.

I have been caught by a recover-retitle enough that I double check if it sounds familiar!

Good morning ~ The week is flying by thankfully. Yesterday was a much better day at work. Still stressful, still a ton to do and more being thrown at me but I didn't let it overwhelm me. Rollin', rollin', rollin'... I think spending a few days realistically thinking about my options was a huge reality check. There's also the devil that you know. The one thing I can control is food and I have been a saint there. I wish the scale would reflect my efforts though.
QOTD - I collect cookbooks - love them all! I only read them for fun and inspiration. I use Pinterest for ideas sometimes, but really just cook with my heart.
Today:
Have a great day!

When I was in my late teens, I did a summer job as au pair for a family. Cooking was not part of my job but somehow I got roped into it. The woman kept teaching me and I kept screwing up. Finally she remarked that I don't put my heart into cooking. I laughed and said what does heart have to do with cooking? She said everything.
So when you cook with your heart that shows.

Mornin' All!
I'm meeting a friend for coffee at 9:15 - I picked a place kind of far from home since I plan to bike over there. Other than that, nothing on tap for today other than to continue getting caught up with classes so I'm all caught up by the weekend. Oh - I weighed myself this morning, even though I feel like I weigh about 400 lbs. Nope - down 2 lbs since I left on vacation! I was shocked! It certainly wasn't from eating since I ate over 2000 kcal almost every day. It would have been all that walking.
QOTD: I must own at least 100 cookbooks. Like some of the others on here, I love them. And also like others, other than for baking, I use them more for ideas and rarely follow the recipes exactly (although even with baking, I do make changes to make them less caloric and healthier - whenever possible, that is...). My current favorites are my Milk Street cookbooks (like Jen!!). I love that Christopher Kimball is focusing a lot on various ethnic cuisines now - and his recipes are pretty easy to boot.
