Good Morning! Who is ready for a new week? I had a great weekend, including a very fun class yesterday. I am mildly paralyzed when I think about what I need to do over the next few days, but I am sure I will get it done. I think it's going to be a 20 cup of coffee kind of day, but I am not mad about it :)

QOTD: What's the next adventure you have planned? Grim and I are taking another class together up in Maine in a few weeks! We're going to learn to make colorful Fiber Tampico Whisk Brooms. They look beautiful and I am excited to learn!

Accountability: Good. I weighed in on Saturday and the weight loss is slow compared to how we used to lose in the first 2 years, but it's working so I am going to keep up the 500 calories for as long as I can.

Good mornin everyone!

Not a lot planned here today. It's supposed to be hot, over 100. So we'll likely be staying indoors after we pick up the kids. We might run to Walmart as we didn't do it yesterday.

I've got to try to do more. I did finally start up chainmaille yesterday. My tremors are quite bad and makes it interesting to say the least. I'm rather tired of the tremors.

I might try to get a little bit more sleep...not sure.

QOTD: no real adventure planned for the foreseeable future. Trying to get in to see my doctor could be considered an adventure of sorts lol

food is light. Yogurt, broth, pudding and broth. I may venture to eat some meat but we'll see,

I feel ya on tremors. I have essential tremor. I was trying to insert tiny pins in a watch over the weekend and had to stop. I tried doing it different ways but my hands shaking weren't going to cooperate.

I've always had some but these as of late are driving me nuts. When I had to have an EKG they had to weight me down to be still. My feet my arms are just so shaky, so sorry you deal with em too.

Oh man, that's rough. My stepfather has tremors of some sort. They've gotten worse in the 25+ years I've known him and make fine manipulation so hard for him at times. I'm sorry that happens to you.

No adventures planned at the moment. Just enjoying the summer which here has been full of hot, sunny days. Our hot days are about 85 with bright sun and great days to spend at the pool.

The whisk brooms are beautiful, almost too pretty to actually use. Would be fun to display and use. I do think cleaning tools should be functional and attractive.

Weight loss happened very slowly for me. But I got to goal over a year ago and have stayed there with almost no effort and even dropped another five pounds this summer without trying. I feel like my body became super efficient at holding onto weight after the surgery honeymoon.

I joined Weigh****chers and became a lifetime member in 1973. I have 50 years of lifetime membership with many gaps and years of not doing the program. I have gotten discouraged with the cost of it, the embarrassment of the weigh-ins, and the general despair when I would follow the plan religiously and stay the same or gain.

When I went back to WW about three years ago, I did it online. It was during the pandemic and I was eating junk, not moving enough, and gaining weight. Most of my clothes were too small. I started doing online meetings and did them everyday and some days did two meetings. I found inspiration in their new scientific approach. I watched members and listened to what they were doing.

I found a lot of inspiration and insight in their book, The Shift by Gary Foster. I had it on audible and listened at home and every time I was in my car. I bought a hard copy and read that too.

There were so many "aha" moments as people described what they had been through. People shared so much guilt, so much despair, so many fads and misconceptions. I felt their stories and learned from their experiences. I slowly changed how I react to food. I no longer have any guilt about eating anything. I no longer have any cravings and my restriction is almost the same as right after surgery.

I am now so satisfied with small amounts of food. I once again have to sometimes remind myself to eat because I feel little or no hunger. I have tons of candy, cookies, and other "bad" things in the house and they stay there forever because I completely forget that they are there. I used to buy Hershey Nuggets and finish a bag in a few days. Now a bag is still sitting there almost full after close to a year. I will have one or two and then forget them for months.

I plan and prepare nice meals but eat small amounts of them over about three days and then throw out the leftovers. I don't eat any food that I don't love and don't feel bad about wasting food. One day I wanted a Dairy Queen sundae. I went and bought it, took about two bites and threw it away before I drove home. I just had enough and was satisfied and did not need the rest. But if I had wanted it, I had given myself permission to eat it all.

I have learned that so much of this is a mind game. I felt so much guilt and no longer have any of that feeling. I quit paying for Weigh****chers when I realized my weight had been at goal and stable for about three months. But I do weigh daily and would go back in a minute if I regained.

Good morning and happy monday! Just about to head to the office to start the week.

Congratulations on the weight loss, you have less to lose now so it will be slower going for sure. Also, your calories are so low generally that increasing your calorie deficit proportionally will take longer.

QOTD - some friends and I are seeing John Oliver on Sunday. I've seen him before and he is so funny and smart, should be a good show. We're trying a bao house that opened nearby before hand.

I had to drop my bestie off at the airport last night and her 11pm flight was delayed until 1 am so it was a bit later than I was expecting so I'm dragging a bit today so will have the extra coffee. Will get in some rowing after I get back from the office which will be good.

menu today

coffee plus half and half X3

small salami and cheese on pretzels bread with pickles

bratwurst

frozen greek yogurt with pb and lily's chips

Have a great day everyone!

Mornin' All!

I have my book discussion group at 10:00 this morning. I didn't read any of the book while I was abroad (as I'd planned to..), so I"m only about half way through it, but I'll go to the group anyway. I think I know enough to be able to discuss it - unless there was some surprise ending or something. Besides, I like the people. Otherwise, it's not a very eventful week, which is good. I'm a couple weeks behind on my classes (again, didn't do anything with them while on my trip), so hopefully this will give me time to get caught up.

QOTD: right now all I can think about when it comes to that is packing up and moving to Scandinavia, but that's impossible (but maybe we can "summer" there after DH retires and we don't have moms to worry about?? (hopefully that just means they'll be in assisted living - I certainly don't want to lose them! But then, they're not spring chickens anymore...)). Although the next overseas adventure should probably be Romania, because my last set of great grandparents were born/raised there (although they were both ethnic Germans - Romania was very culturally diverse before World War II). I made a bucket list item last summer after my Scotland trip to visit all the towns/villages that my great grandparents were from, and I've now covered six of them - so just the last two to go. And I need to do this soon since I'm already in my 60s and who knows how many more years I'll be able to travel. Hopefully another 15-20, but one never knows what might happen...

B: plain skyr with ligonberry preserves, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: bagged salad? If so, with some kind of protein

AS: 6 black bean chips with hummus

D: black bean dal

ex: I can probably get back at it (I was having a lot of pain at the end of my trip and up until yesterday - I think it was all the walking (my legs were killing me and my feet were blistered) - plus oddly, my arms were sore, too - maybe from lugging my backpack around). But I think I might be good to go at this point. Maybe I'll go to a water aerobics class this afternoon - might be a good way to ease back into a routine..

have a great day, everyone!

I'm happy to hear that you may have turned a corner on pain. I'm trying to get to a pool this week to resume water exercises. I'm really excited about that.
