What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu?

Beautiful salad! Your post just reminded me that I'm probably inheriting a high-end mountain bike in the next few months. I used to ride bikes daily as a kid but man, I just feel like I'm a fraction of a second from disaster whenever I get on one now!

QOTD- That my hobbies are for old ladies. Spinning, knitting, sewing, weaving... and crocheting occasionally.

So happy it is Friday, it's supposed to be 93 today and 92 tomorrow. Were not in the heat dome but at the edges. It will cool down next week to the mid to high 80's.

I'm thinking of replacing my windows. There are 4 that need replaced. They are single pane glass with wood frames and an exterior single pane storm window. They are awful. I think I will get an estimate, 3 of the 4 are on the 2nd floor so not something that I would attempt. The largest one is in my bedroom it's 98" x 48", the sides open and the center is fixed. The bedroom faces East and gets the morning sun, the others face West and get the sun all afternoon. Even with mini-blinds and insulated drapes it doesn't really help. Trying to decide if it's worth it. Any suggestions?

The only thing I have planned for this weekend is to finally install the cat door. Not liking having to leave the slider cracked open for easy entrance for my kittens. The neighborhood cat isn't fond of them and will chase them. Plus there are 2 tom cats that worry me. With the door programmed for their microchips I should be able to control it. Plus I can lock them in when I want.

Have a great day everyone!

I don't know if they do it there but our local electric coop will come in and give you an energy assessment; if you make the changes they recommend, you get credits on your account...plus you get the energy saving from the changes. When I lived in AZ all the west facing windows on my house had a reflective coating which helped and some people also put on exterior heat screens. Good luck with the next steps on your place.

We have been very happy with the Anderson windows we had installed upstairs. Both are in direct, long hour sunlight. We got their best sun rated and then we keep them covered with sun blocking curtains when no one is using the room. It's helped the heat that gathers in that room by probably 10 degrees. It's still hot as hell up there in the summer, but definitely better. We only use the AC up there when we have company. We just keep the hall doors at the bottom of the stairs closed when we are running the house AC (like we are right now. It's hot out there!)

No suggestions since I'm with you on getting the conglomeration of windows here replaced. The estimate I had last year was for $21,000. Not something I can do right now! Fascinated to learn about energy assessments, though!
