Antidepressants after Bypass surgery

Hi everyone,

I am considering revision surgery to gastric bypass but I am afraid that my body will not absorb my medication and cause me to experience some really uncomfortable side effects.

Has anyone who takes antidepressants medication had bypass surgery? What was your experience?

I have bipolar disorder with mostly depression. I won't lie and say it was easy to adjust. I had to have a revision due to GERD. The best thing I can recommend is to do counseling while going through it. It can be frustrating but if you stay on top of it it may not get away from you. The best thing is to really be your own advocate. If something doesn't feel right tell someone. Be honest with your healthcare providers and yourself!

I really can't emphasize how helpful counseling is during this and wish I'd of done it sooner myself.
