Does anyone remember fireworks from 2020, the pandemic year? They started setting them off in spring, and went all summer. Last night was a pretty normal fourth, but 2020 was 100 times worse, and 100 times longer. They were running stories on the TV news about how many complaints the police were getting, and all the accidents, fires, and injuries it was causing.
It made me curious if it was a nationwide thing.
I was curious about nationwide policies after JB said something about it. Massachusetts is the only state to ban all fireworks. 15 other states have "Safe and Sane" laws, 2 let local counties decide, and the rest let you blow up whatever you want.
Curiously, the first state to ban any type of fireworks was in the 1930s, when children playing with sparklers set a house on fire. I think it was in Iowa.
