Hello Friday Friends! I'm posting from our new lovely AirBnB in NC. It's so cute--big White House with a wrap around porch that comes with 2 porch kitties (see photo Friday below). Yesterday was a nice drive around. We explored Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Pittsboro. Grim starts school today so I am on my own to finish up my school work and all the other things I have been ignoring.

QOTD: Would you rather break your leg or lose your cell phone for a week? Assuming I have decent health insurance and can't just go buy another phone, I am breaking my leg. No phone for a week seems impossible.

Photo Friday:

Porch kitty #1

New t-shirt from the Durham game.

Grim: Before & After some really excellent Ribs :)

I grabbed a few things at the market last night so that I don't need to go out for lunch today.

B: probably an omelette and coffee at a diner

L: Nosa yogurt

S: babybel

D: not sure--probably meeting up with Grim and wood guys for dinner :)

Good morning QJB and menuers,

I bet that's a fun house! Good setting for catching up on everything you need to. BBQ in North Carolina is always fun. Isn't that the vinegar sauce part of the country?

Love the porch kitties, and Grim looks...satisfied? In the second picture.

QOTD- Phone all day. Yes, I'm addicted more than is good for me but always keen to cut the cord on technology.

Made it to Friday! I've already sent the boss a note because it's been a rough night. Started building yesterday afternoon and it just hasn't been pleasant. There are some meetings that would be difficult to reschedule today and I intend to try and take them, as well as keeping my project moving. Otherwise though, I'm working on wearing a track into the floor in my living room. Not sure what's going on but I'm following all the advice.

Accountability- No protein for second breakfast so I had half a GF English muffin with butter and some fruit. Lunch was the insides of a turkey club and a bite of an oatmeal raisin cookie.

Not sure on today's menu. I feel full so will focus on fluids and supplements. Already stopped taking iron a few days ago in preparation for Tuesday.

Pics are my hibiscus. Have a fabulous Friday, everyone!

vinegar sauce in eastern NC, a mix of vinegar & tomato-based sauce in western NC (definitely vinegar in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area). I personally prefer the western NC sauce, but it's the eastern one that everyone outside of NC knows (probably because it's unique)

My friend and I went to Childress winery in the Winston-Salem area a few years back. Not sure where they fall based on the barbecue line divide but we sure tried some interesting food! Was a great girl's trip.

W-S is "left of center", with respect to the BBQ sauce divide, so you're likely to see tomatoes sneaking in. Although nowadays, a lot of BBQ places offer several different sauce options, so they're not as cut & dry as they used to be. Kansas City style is the most well-known (very tomato-y - plus molasses and/or brown sugar - so thick and sweet) - so you see that all over.

I just read an article on BBQ sauces in Food & Wine (for some reason, I get their e-newsletters). They said the eastern NC style is the oldest - it existed even before the Civil War. Tomatoes didn't start showing up in BBQ sauces anywhere until the late 19th century. Well then there's the Alabama style, which is really different - white (mayonnaise-based) - never tried this one.

Good mornin everyone.

I'm still feeling a little rotten. The pump was turned off yesterday and I do feel better. I think it's going to take a while to get my stomach back to normal. Eating is still something I'd rather not do but I have been eating on a slice of plain bread. I have surgery scheduled for July 6th to get this dang thing out of me. I wish I had never done it.

I do see my GP this afternoon. I think I'm over the worst of the nausea. I still may ask for a small amount of whatever to get me by with taking my meds, it's a little touchy still. My mom is going to get me some bananas today.

no pics today.

QOTD! Phone would be going bye bye.

Mel

The only thing that I have found that deals with my nausea is Phenergan generic is promethazine. But the down side is it makes you sleepy. Zofran doesn't work for me.
