The volume of roadkill is getting a bit scary. When we drove across upstate New York last month we counted 9 freshly killed deer. We saw one actually get hit by an 18 wheeler.

Once, when I was talking to someone not from the US, I had to explain to him what I meant when I said "deer-splosion". Sadly, see a lot of that out where I'm at.

I hadn't noticed since I rarely leave the city, but with the increase in wildlife the past few years, this doesn't surprise me. Wild turkeys, coyotes, and sandhill cranes are all an every day site around here - i guess they want to take back their land (the land that we've been encroaching on forever...)

Good morning all. Not much exciting going on here. We had some crazy thunder and lightning yesterday, and I thought the cats were going to have heart attacks. In the middle of it I sneezed, and the kitties did that cartoon think where their legs were moving at 100 mph but they weren't going anywhere.

QOTD: I tend to break roads trips into each part -- how far are you driving in one go. 5 or 6 years ago I went from Florida back to MA, stopping just for gas and bathrooms. 13 states in a little over 17 hours. My brother was heading overseas, and I was driving his vehicle back here for storage.

I am a Martian! The potatoes I planted are growing beautifully. Here's one pot about 3 weeks or so after planting.

Unless the road trip is the point, the only reason to stop is for gas and bathrooms and snacks and you can do that all in one go. Oddly, many people won't drive with me from point a to point b a second time, I don't understand it.

Right? Unless the point is sightseeing, I'd rather get there sooner, rest up, then get about doing what I'm there to do. JB was a little miffed I didn't spend the night somewhere coming back from Florida. A: I wanted to get away from Florida, and B: I was in a hurry to see her. What's to be miffed about?

I'll ride with you! I tend to stop when the gas tank is empty, hobble around enough for blood flow to be restored and allow bathroom breaks, and crack on!

I prefer to get there also. Minimal stops unless the sites are preplanned. I swear DH can't go more than 90 minutes without peeing. Pea sized bladder. However, he makes up time by speeding like a madman. Me I don't want a ticket.
